All Free and Clear is not recommended for cloth diapers, it will give baby a rash, and may not come totally out of your diapers I've heard too! Eeek! Can you find Purex Free and Clear? That is an inexpensive, very easy to find detergent that works well for babies and diapers! Also, I second the choice for soap nuts! They are awesome!

Steph, so did you get the diaper sprayer? You may not need it right now because she's breastfed, but as she moves into solids the cleanup becomes increasingly messy! lol! I also used All free and clear to wash my diapers. I installed a drying rack on the wall that pulled out so I could let my dipes air dry, it's supposed to keep them waterproofed longer. I can't speak from experience here. If you ever use pockets the inside becomes sticky when you use the dryer and it makes it hard to stuff. Therefore you should air dry pockets for easy stuffing. If you want to save money for all your diaper laundry I would recommend making your own detergent using equal parts of Borax, Washing Soda (baking soda will work), and Oxy Clean. Works like a charm!

I know cloth diapering can be addictive, but I just had to throw out there that Bamboozles are really great, absorbent diapers that fit a really wide range of babies all the way through toddlerhood. It's probably our favorite diaper, and we've been CDing since Gabe was born (17 months). :)

We have recently had an ongoing bout with thrush and I used disposables, and it felt so wrong! I do use disposables at night with Libby and Hudson both, though. Happy cloth diapering!

I totally feel the same way. We use Bum Genuis as well. Once I'd gotten started with them it was such a piece of cake! They are cute (Cotton Babies has new bold colors), easy and feel sooo good. I kinda feel a little proud of myself for using them (eco-friendly). My only regret....? Wishing I could buy some pink ones too! ;) (Better be careful what I wish for.)

I'm so happy for you and a bit jealous. I was so excited when I attempted cloth with Julia, but I made the mistake of buying tons of one type and then not liking them and giving up.

These days I literally cannot even keep up with my regular laundry, so I'm still doing disposables.

But it's funny... b/c I am jealous... but I still know that I won't be making the switch. Sigh. I feel like a terrible earth killing mother... but what to do... At least I am doing better about trying to cut down on paper towels. Baby steps right? LOL

Aren't cloth diapers great? We used disposables on the first 3 and cloth diapers for the last 3. The cloth diapers were such a much better experience for us and the babies. We also saved a ton of money.
I love my www.bellabottoms.com. I get the terry cloth ones and they are wonderful.

I have been using the BumGenius one size diapers since Oliver was 3 months old. That was over 2 years ago and I still love them! I use them on Wyatt now, too. They are still my favorites, even after trying a few other brands.

Glad you are enjoying the cloth diapers. We love them too. We use prefolds without a snappi too. Although we do have some because I too wonder if we will need them when Baby Sister starts crawling (she scooted across the floor - almost army crawl style - the other day). It is funny how much people who cloth diaper truly come to love it. Baby Sister leaks out of disposables too. Although, not at nigh and we do still use disposables at night. Considering switching though.

How great that cloth diapering is off to such a good start for you! I totally agree that cloth performs much better than disposables.

I had my middle child in Bumgenius for two years, and I loved the fit but they were falling apart by the time he turned two. I maybe wasn't careful enough with them?? But the fuzzibunz held up just fine.

So have you looked into knitting some wool covers? I'm eyeing a pattern for some wool longies for my little guy.

This post made me smile, Steph. I love seeing others fall in love with cloth diapering.

We recently went through a huge issue in which we found out the LB is lactose intolerant. Let me tell you that no cloth diaper could have held some of those awful bowel movements. Just trust me.

Keep on enjoying. The honeymoon period does end eventually and you will think, if only once, "Do I really have to do laundry today?" But those thoughts are fleeting. :)

hello! You have encourged me to use my cloth diapers. I have been a bit intimidated and have waited until the pooping slows down. Will is now 3 months old as well and I have been thinking about starting. Do the one-size fits all seem bulky that they leak?, or do you prefer those over the indian prefolds. I bought both. Good for you for going cloth. I did it 4 years ago and will never go back. your are right. It is so easy but for some reason we have been programed into thinking it is difficult. It's really not!!

my kids hardly ever get diaper rashes.

I am a fan of fuzzy bunz...and anything that snaps. I discovered that anything with velcro sticks to everything and tend to tear at the material after a while.

I'm so glad you love it! It's really kind of fun....

Fabulous! I'm so glad you love it! When I started cloth diapering, I too was pleasantly surprised by how well they hold leaks. They totally outperform pampers!
A little tip: As Ivy gets older you might notice the bumGenius inserts retaining smell. A little oxygen cleaner does the trick. I use Nellie's.

Elizabeth got some of them for her 2nd birthday tonight & she exclaimed about the pretty colors just like she did about the toys! I like that when she's potty trained, I can use these for the next baby! I've been using the homemade detergent with our diapers & have no problems. Had to use disposables a few days this week & she got a rash with the disposables!
