The Measure

Noah & Carter measure up
Noah age 11 - Carter age 10

After posting this photo the other day and then seeing everyone's comments asking if Carter was really the tallest, I thought I'd clear it up and show you that Noah was just slouching. But to my surprise, um, Carter apparently did just have a growth spurt and if you count his hair, he's totally taller right now. Otherwise they are like the same exact height.

Noah is going into sixth grade and Carter into fifth. I am anxious to find out just where they will be attending school in two weeks, but we'll get there. They don't stop growing, FYI. They just keep on, yes like beautiful weeds, and if you have a little baby in your arms right now I know that might seem scary to imagine but let me tell you, it's amazing and as miraculous as when they were born. The love grows as they do. It's awesome.

  1. I LOVE this! I measured them on my wall a few weeks ago and Noah was taller, but you are right about Carter having a growth spurt. They are amazing brothers. And pretty soon you will be looking up at them.

  2. :) Carter's hair! Aha. Maybe you could homeschool for a few weeks? :)

  3. I love this!! I think Luke and Tommy may be like this someday. Luke has always been 50% for height and Tommy 90%. People think they're only a year apart because of Tommy's height, so I could see them being a hair apart when they're older. Such handsome boys.

  4. True, so true. They grow so fast and each stage is it's own fun. My "baby" just passed me. I'm now the shortest person in the family.

  5. My middle daughter had a huge growth spurt & grew 7 inches in one year, her older sister did not...Now @ 15 she is easily 3 inches taller than her older sister (who will be 18 in less that two weeks...) Probably needless to say, the oldest daughter is quite dis-pleased by this development & the middle daughter is thrilled...Ahhh, siblings...

  7. Lovely post. And it is such a profound moment when you both realize they are taller than you..the parent!! That's when they really are convinced that they've "grown up." :)

  8. Time moves so unbelievably fast. I mean, really, it is shocking when we stop to think about it. Hope your growing boys are in the just right school shockingly fast and your thoughts can move on to what adorable young men they are growing into.

  9. Well look at that! And you're right, it's just as miraculous, although it makes my heart a tad sad that their (meaning ALL the kids!) legs are getting so long...

  10. I love this post. Sometimes it's hard for me to imagine what having older kiddos will be like. Thanks for the reminder that as they grow, so does our love for them!!!

  11. Such a timely post! I was just looking at my two younger boys and realized that my 5 year old is the same exact height as my 7 year old. Funny how growth spurts come on so quickly and at different times for each kid. :)

  13. I know when I had my first newborn, everyone said, "They grow up so fast." But they were totally right. In a blink, my babies are gone. Blogging helps to reflect and enjoy all the small moments, and I try to look forward to the rewards of older kids without getting too down about the years that fly.
