Not Our House

dream house

I couldn't wait to write about our new house, but alas, we were outbid and the house I've pinned all those pins for, including this rug (and this rug) is, after all, not our house.

Today I woke feeling pretty defeated, however in the meantime I'm getting this house ready to sell and it's coming along so much less painful than I thought it would. It will all shake out, I know, but I admit to some impatience on my part along the way. Where is our house? Why hasn't it found us yet? Will those rugs work in it, too?

  1. God already has the perfect house picked out for you. It's all in his perfect timing that he will reveal it to you...and I'm sure the rugs will look great.

  2. The right house will come along even if it doesn't seem like it is right at first. It took us three different homes to find the one we are currently in and love.

  3. Oh, do I know the feeling of not finding/getting the house you want! But everyone promised me it would work out for the best. It did! Hang in there!

  4. I'm pretty sure I'd be asking myself those last two questions if I were in your shoes, too. I can only imagine the ball of nerves spinning as a mama searching for her family's home. Just wanted to say hang in there. :)

  5. It will be perfect, this house that you find. It's so frustrating and defeating, but it will be perfect.

Just a few months ago, I was desperate to move back to town with my parents. I was even thinking about getting an apartment that was smaller than our current one, because I so desperately wanted to be close to them and have them there in an emergency.

But I took deep breaths. Friends helped me realize that I needed to trust God and know he would find the perfect situation for us.

And He did. A few days after I relaxed and prayed for peace, I got a call from a family friend who's tenants moved out suddenly. For $100 a month more, we would be moving from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom farmhouse across from a park with a garage and a huge plot of land. It became perfect, allowing us to have a friend move in to take care of my husband and daughter.

I never even DREAMED it would have been possible....it just shows that God knows what He is doing, no matter how frustrating and exhausting it can be!

I'm praying for peace for you.

  6. Oh I know it's hard. You will find your house. Your house will find you. Try not to hyperventilate or get too many ulcers over it.

  7. Over the last 8 years, we've moved 6 times. I've learned that as long as I truly love something, it will work in any house. And if it's a house that you also love, I'm sure that you can do no wrong! (This does NOT apply to curtains. I have a bin of curtains in my basement that proves this theory.)

You will find the perfect house. You will be able to have the rugs that you love. And in the end, you'll wonder why you ever thought to feel defeated in the first place.

  8. So sorry! The perfect house is out there waiting for you. When God closes a door, he opens a window. I'll keep my eye out for awesome houses with open windows. :)
