She finally broke down, "Mama, I'm sick." A cold got the best of her today, and I stroked her hair until she fell asleep. I mouthed the word
magnificent, and hoped I'd remember to write this down.
That is a good word. She was fine as long as she was touching some part of me and I was fine as long as her eyes were finally closed. Her face round like the moon, and I her earth.
Her face round like the moon, and I her earth...
ReplyDeleteperfect. there's really no other way to describe it.
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat will always be one of my favorite lines...the moon and the earth. Love.
ReplyDeleteSigh. What a lovely relationship you have with her, and how adept you are at describing it.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful.
ReplyDeletehow sweet. sounds just like my evening/night yesterday with my almost 3 year old...
ReplyDeleteThat was beautifully put. I'm sorry she doesn't feel
ReplyDeleteWell though
So so so sweet. Exactly how I feel when my little girl is sick.
ReplyDeletedon't you just love that your touch is all they need sometimes?
ReplyDelete"...and I her earth." Amazing.
ReplyDeleteHope she feels better soon.
Simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHope she feels better soon.
poor baby! I love those moments. My son is old enough now (almost 13!!!). I was sick not too long ago, which I am very rarely sick. He smoothed MY forehead, kissed it and said a blessing over me.
ReplyDeleteI must not act too horrid to get that from him. He tells me that I am a wonderful mom. Aww!!
Stunning ode to mothering love in what? Less than 100 words? Perfection.
ReplyDeleteWow, unbelievably perfect.
ReplyDeleteLovely <3 Absolutely. I've been there.
ReplyDeleteTruly gorgeous. Posts like this make me doubt that you ever have a hard time being gentle.
ReplyDeleteThis is the kind of post where I hesitate to say anything and disrupt the magic.
ReplyDeletePerfect. Warm.
ReplyDeleteOh, so pretty!!!
