one day in the life

one day in our life

I write in bed and she chills beside me, maybe with a book or my iPhone. I get dressed so that we can stop by Starbucks and Target where I'll try on sunglasses and feel every size 5T pant, finding two soft-no-tag pair that might be tight enough in the waist and long enough in length. A certain almost-six-year-old will have to try them on when he gets home from school. If he approves, I'll buy every color they have.

Tonight I might get them McDonald's for dinner, because Gray's birthday is this week and he's been asking for a Happy Meal for weeks now. And also I don't want to add any more dishes to the sink. Jeff works late, I'll barely get everything crossed off on my checklist, scraping the bottom of a deadline or three, but they get done. They always do.

  1. Reminds me of my daughters just chilling out with me. My favorite moments are when I look down and see them content to just be by me, no matter what I'm doing. <3

  4. Your posts always make me believe that yes, I can be a good mother. That it doesn't require perfection, just love, patience, and remembering to breathe and accept the insanity when it comes. And personally, I think spending the day in bed before getting coffee and indulging in the rarity of McDonalds sounds perfect.

That photo of your daughter is especially wonderful.
