Well, she did want to be Hello, Kitty for Halloween.
Ivy is doing great. She got six stitches in her lip after some bedtime ballyhoo. You see, she has this routine of slipping out from under the covers after I tuck her in to give one more round of goodnight kisses. This night she just didn't make it back to her bed so safely.
We have an appointment to have the stitches checked and removed on Friday with a new-to-us doctor. Ours was over an hour away and moved offices even farther west. This new one came recommended by a friend and my phone call to them went something like this: Hi, are you taking new patients with a natural approach to health care? Also, we don't vaccinate. All good. So, can you take out my daughter's stitches this Friday?
We are hoping the wound heals up nice and clean on its own and over the next six months we can see what kind of scar (if any) is left. After that we can consider plastic surgery if needed.
Everyone in the E.R. made up over Ivy's blue eyes and how good she was. She was so still and also talked their ears off. Once we got home, however, she was back to her wild ways and has me seriously considering bubble wrap for the next small style. Do they make it for a mama's heart?

Quick question for you, Steph: How do you ever stop kissing her cute little face, especially now?
ReplyDeleteMan, she is the cuteness. Whiskers or not. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, it will likely heal wonderfully w/o further surgery. My oldest had 7 stitches in her chin 2 years ago, and I can hardly see it now.
ReplyDeleteAnd, go ahead and push that bubble wrap fashion theme ; )
LOL, poor dear, I was not that old when I head my first set of stitches from a bedtime ballyhoo. I had about a dozen on my forehead from sliding up under a bed and hitting my noggin.
ReplyDeleteDave
poor little darling, she is still as adorable as ever in this picture, love her eyes!!!!
ReplyDeleteYikes! It makes me cringe for her to see this. She looks like she's taking it in stride. It's one of those good stories to tell later. :-)
ReplyDeletePoor baby :(
ReplyDeleteShe does have beautiful eyes :)
Aw, little love bug!
ReplyDeleteJanelle
If you find some heart bubble wrap, send some my way, ok?
ReplyDeleteGlad she is ok and did really well.
Oh poor Ivy. :( And you. Glad she did well though, and if she does have a scar it will just make her mysterious. ;)
ReplyDeleteOH, I can just imagine how this hurts your mama-heart. I'm pretty tough with the blood/guts/stitches stuff, unless it's one of my own babies. Then I get all faint and weepy. She's going to heal quickly, though, and ohmygoodness her eyes are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEven with the stitches, she is so incredibly beautiful! So glad she is okay and did well :)
ReplyDeleteOh that girl. She and my Libby are seriously two peas in a pod!!
ReplyDeleteWrap her in bubble wrap..HA! I have said I wanted to do that SO many times!!!
xoxo
Oh, those eyes! They take my breath away!!
ReplyDeleteShe still looks so adorable. Yeah, you are right about the Hello Kitty Whiskers.
ReplyDeletePoor baby girl! I got bit in the lip by a dog when I was a kid. I had a lot of stitches in my lip and a decent scar but it got better over time. I never had any plastic surgery but now it is barely noticeable. I hope she heals up quickly!

ReplyDeleteAlso, the Mederma for Kids works excellent on preventing scars. (You know how I know this)
Oh, such a sweet face, even with the whiskers. Any scar will just be the mark of her spirit, right there where the angels kissed her.
ReplyDeleteAwww...poor Ivy! It's tough being tough!
ReplyDeleteOh, she's beautiful! And, so tough and brave. You have to be with three big brothers, though, right?
ReplyDeleteSo glad she's doing well. We have a few (several) little scars in our family. We put Vitamin D oil on them every night and they're not even noticeable anymore.
Oh poor baby... would you look at those eyelashes!!! Unbelievable!!! Lots of love...
ReplyDeleteTulip had 7 stitches in her chin in January - we called it her beard. She pulled out two of the stitches the next day. I told her that was a mistake and she said, "I know, next time I won't ever do it again."
ReplyDeletePoor Ivy. She's so cute. That picture is just too much!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found a doctor! Finding new doctors gives me anxiety...
She is so brave and so are you.
ReplyDeleteoh that ivy. wasn't right around her second birthday when she hurt her arm? i'm dreading the e.r./doctor visit for the first time for something like this. but it is bound to happen. (although, i have never broken a bone or had stitches, clearly, i need to live a little more;))
ReplyDeleteoh goodness. poor ivy. but she is the cutest kitty around!!! i hope it heals beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThose sweet blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteI keep looking for that bubble wrap for mama's hearts, but everywhere I look they seem to be out.
Glad you found a new to you doctor so easily. Hope it all goes well from here on out.
bubble wrap is a good idea. ;)
ReplyDeleteawww, sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a sweet little face- those eyes! Hope she feels better soon. Love her skirt in the small style post!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Good to hear she is back to adventure loving self though. What a little trooper not letting stitches get in the way of a good time.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Poor sweet girl! Her eyes are so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI did the same sort of thing around her age to my lip (trick or treating Halloween night actually, I slipped and split my lip on a front porch). I had stitches like that too, but on one side of my lip. It did scar a bit but no one who doesn't know the story would even know it's there. I hope Ivy's heals up well!
Glad that she's ok! I know I'm just repeating what you've already heard, but that pic is wonderful!!
ReplyDeletesweet sweet ivy. i have a scar, a HUGE chicken pox scar, on my nose. i don't think anyone even notices it, even though it is right there. hope the doctor thing is just no big deal and easy as can be.
ReplyDeletepoor Ivy, but she is so beautiful, those eyes...
ReplyDeleteOur kids seriously are SO much alike. Baby Dude had stitches in his bottom lip on July 4th last year. The scar is quite minimal. Will snap a pic and email it to you :)
ReplyDeleteHugs, sweetie. To you and to sweet Ivy Larue.
