Precisely Why Kids Can't Marry, Drive Cars, and Have Kids Of Their Own

illusion
optical illusion

Gray gabbed the entire time we were in the car yesterday, but I didn't mind because our days together grow short- him starting school all day on Wednesday. He talked about marriage, of course, and I tried to explain why he couldn't marry his cousin Lauren. So his shoulders drooped and he said, Fiiiiiiiiiine. I'll just marry Ivy then I guess. And then we had to talk some more. Then Ivy cried because she and Gray can't get married.

He got to talking about having kids and he said, When I have kids, if I don't have room in my car I will have to put the extra kid in the trunk. And of course I told him that he can't do that and he said, But it will be in the trunk! No one will know.

  5. Oh, I love it when the boys say they want to marry me or their siser.

My oldest was convinced he would never get married because he never wanted to move out. So now we've worked out a plan that when he gets married, he and his family will just live with us. I SO hope that plan sticks. :)

  7. Hah, I love it! I was convinced I was going to marry my cousin Michael when I was about seven. When told I couldn't my retort was, "But YOU said he is my THIRD cousin! So it's LEGAL!"

Did I mention that side of my family is from Arkansas and Nebraska?

  16. I was just thinking about little kids and their views on marriage the other day, when Luke told me he wanted to marry his cousin. I think it means that we're doing something right in our own marriages when kids equate marrying someone with simply wanting to spend the rest of their life with someone they really love.

  17. I'm so looking forward to those chats with my boys. I guess I have at least three to four years to wait. :-)

p.s. I remember working out an agreement with my cousin to get married when we grew up. I was SO upset when my mother told me we couldn't. The reasoning seemed so stupid to my 8-year-old mind! @mrs_jennyk

  19. HI Steph - I was so inspired by a poem I read on Lovelyn's blog today which she linked back to your original post and the same poem. Just wanted to let you know I did one too! Thanks for the inspiration.
