Visual Prayer

summer table

It starts with an empty table and open heart (and for Ivy a heaping plate of carrots and caprese salad).

 beginnings

We visited with my friend Michelle yesterday and did visual prayer outside in the rich summer air, surrounded by trees and gardens and life. Visual prayer, to me, is communicating with God through creating art instead of speaking words out loud. Michelle is often a painter, I am more of a tearing paper and glue type of pray-er. Ivy likes watercolor and crayons.

 What will I be?

My heart swells to burst, creating with my beautiful children, and when they nap beside me while I worship art-fully, well that is an amazing blessing. A taste of heaven.

  1. Oh, this is fantastic. I love this. I've been walking through a time of grief and have been surprised at the number of canvases and tubes of paints that I have purchased, almost unaware. I love the title of visual prayer!
