Monday was a very long day of celebrating the 4th, and although Ivy insists on walking everywhere now (even in the grocery store- no cart!) she was flipping excited to see I had tucked the mei tai in my tote after the fireworks show late in the evening. We are pretty much over ever using a stroller anymore. Babywearing wins!I wore her as we lugged our chairs and children the long walk to the car, and when it was time to put her in the car seat, she begged me to "keep me on". Oh how I've missed wearing her. I should do it much more, it's just that the opportunity presents itself so little now. I'm thankful for all the time I did physically carry her close to my heart.
Bravado Designs asked me to be a guest writer at their site today. I'm offering my best tips on the beautiful art of breastfeeding your babe or toddler while babywearing. Special thanks to Leigh of Marvelous Kiddo, Erin of School Teacher by Day, Superhero by Night, Hyacynth of Undercover Mother, and Natasha of Natural Urban Mama for allowing me to feature their breastfeeding while babywearing photos!
And while Ivy LaRue is absolutely done - finito! - no longer really breastfeeding, there have been some moments... I've spoken about them here: I Still Occasionally Breastfeed My Toddler.
One of my newest advertisers, Nursing Bra Express would like to offer a Majamas Easy Bra to a commenter here. Long gone are my nursing bras and tanks, but oh how awesome a good one was when I needed it. Leave a comment here if you'd like to be entered to win. (Open to US winners only at this time.)

This is going to sound dramatic (or hormonal) but I am honestly sitting here in tears. I've talked to you about this enough that you know, and you get it b/c you're there with Ivy, but these dwindling ends to things with babies-turned-kids that are probably the last are really fricking hard.
ReplyDeleteAww... I wish I had the opportunity to still occasionally breastfeeding my toddler. My daughter weaned herself at a year and I was like... "Seriously? Um... we were gonna keep going..." Luckily baby 3 will be here in October, and I'm praying she'll nurse until I'M ready for her to quit, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really really need a new nursing bra. Don't think I've bought one in 5 years! I wish I could figure out nursing while wearing a baby, would make getting stuff done around here with my twins a lot easier lol, but I've jut never been able to get it down.
ReplyDeleteI'm using nursing bras from my first baby (who is almost 7!) So winning a new one would be a real treat and perfect timing with a one week old at home.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you were able to wear Ivy again! How sweet that she feels as strongly about it as you do!

ReplyDeleteI agree that a good nursing bra/tank is a must when breastfeeding! Entering to win for my SIL Nikki who is due in September. Looking for many ways to love on her after some tragic losses in her family the past few years.

You are such an inspiration for this new mama, knowing that I've got a long time to go on this babywearing, breastfeeding journey, and that it will be worth it! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and all of the info and stories you share; thank you!
ReplyDeleteI would love a new nursing bra; my go-to could use a break!
With Baby 3 on the way I could SO use a good nursing bra. I've got a few and some that have given up, but I've never had one that I really, really love. And it would be so great to have one that fit me right and was easy to use.
ReplyDeleteBeing a large chested woman to begin with has made finding nursing bras a huge challenge! Seriously, a lactation consultant/nursing bra specialist told me that I was a 'hard case.' Great words to hear 8 weeks into nursing your first baby, huh? She was great and was just being honest, but why can't someone make affordable, usable nursing bras for the big girls?
Done ranting. Thanks for the giveaway!
Heather

New babe coming soon nursing bras always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteNursing bras perplex me, and intimidate me, so of course I'd love to win one that I don't have to make a decision about!
ReplyDeleteThat Ivy is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm starting round two in a few weeks, so a new bra would be a treat!
What a sweet post I'm just learning the art of breastfeeding in a mei tai with my three-month-old. I actually did it in the middle if Walmart the other day! I don't have any decent nursing bras, mostly sports bras that I pull up or down, so I'd love to win this!

Just read and commented your post on Strollerderby. I wish my son would have come back to nursing a few more times. It was like when he was done that was it. It was a complete refusal.

ReplyDeleteMy best friend is pregnant with her first and it's been a learning experience for the both of us. As she gets bigger, I'm having to start loaning her my bras! I'd love to give her something to use once the baby is finally here!
ReplyDeleteI could totally use a nursing bra...mine are all leftover from my firstborn, and after three solid years of breastfeeding they could use a break!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I can't believe this is my last baby. I was thinking this morning about how after Ivy was born you commented about this maybe being the end. I think you were where I am now...knowing it is the last but not wanting to fully commit to it. *sigh* it is so hard...yet at the same time kind of exciting ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo...I love you.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh it's like you read my mind. I literally just found out baby #3 is on the way today and started panicking because I no longer have any nursing bras and also gave away all my baby carriers, slings etc. That got me to thinking about blogging when I was pregnant with Stella which reminded me of you because you were pregnant with Ivy at the same time and well that got me to start reading some of my old favorite blogs again. So here I am a rambling, in shock nut reading your blog and in need of a bra!

ReplyDeleteAnd I desperately do need a new nursing bra, losing 60 pounds will do that! :)
My Lily is 2 1/2 (how does that happen) and she refuses to be worn anymore. Major sad-face. I would love to wear her occasionally, but she sees the Ergo and screams NO!
ReplyDeleteAll of that drama, yet she still nurses all the time. :) Silly kid.
