Small Style: Ivy Got A New Hair 'Do Too

 sshair

Ivy went for a trim the other day, too. Again I wonder if I am doing this right- this how to have a girl thing- because am I supposed to just let her hair grow long? It looks so much cuter in a style, and according to the hair stylist at the kiddie hair cut place, it will thicken up by having the shorter layers for now instead of hanging on to the stringy baby hair.

  1. She is growing up so fast! You have a cutie for sure!

  2. Very cute! My daughter is almost 5, and her hair has always been shoulder-length or shorter. On one hand, I'd like for it to be longer so that I can do fancy braids with it and stuff, but her hair is so baby-fine that it's hard to work with. The shorter hair is cute, stylish and no-fuss, and can still be dressed up with clippies and bows!

  3. love that outfit, it looks like one you would wear. :) she is a mini you, that's for sure.

i'm now wondering if i should take audrey to get her hair cut, i have only cut it once and just an inch or two off. she still has the baby hair. hmmm...

  4. Wow, that's a cute skirt! And you are "supposed" to do what you want with her hair while she's still too little to care too much, and before she decides to give herself a haircut.

  5. She is beautiful! And that skirt is to die for.

  6. I love her hair (and her skirt)! I don't think a girl needs to just have her hair go long. I just took my very curly headed girl in for her first trim at 2 yrs old to get rid of the odd, long baby stuff. It looks so much better. Besides, what is more girly than going to the salon?

  11. I love it!
Even though she looks like such a big girl ( i still think of her as a baby).

She is gorgeous, just like her mommy.

  12. LOVE her haircut! I need to have my Ivy's cut again. I agree so much cuter in a style rather than the scraggly baby hair. :)

  13. Steph, I love Ivy's hair. I have held off cutting Jessica's hair and it is that baby string hair...I may be getting it cut today.

  14. What a difference a trim makes. She looks so grown up.

  15. Love her cute haircut! When I was cutting hair in the salon, I was always for what looked better rather than long hair on a little girl. Sometimes hair can be too thin and then it just looks stringy long. This cut is so cute on her!

  16. Oh Steph I nearly burst into tears when I saw the second picture. My baby girl is 22 years old and when she was little, had that same style and color hair. In the second photo, they resemble each other a lot.

She is precious. Thanks for the memory!

  17. Ivy looks simply darling! What a gift a daughter is!

  18. Oh my, Ivy got a haircut, too! You both look so beautiful! I agree, short hair is definitely more of a "style." I'm growing my hair out for now, but long I feel like it's just hair and short I got a lot more comments on it. So funny!

    I love Ivy's outfit, too!

  22. I love her hair! My second oldest daughter has fine, stringy-ish hair, so I kept it short when I could. But now she is 8 and wants long hair like her 9 yo sister and so she is growing it out. I don't love it but it is obviously not something worth fighting about. And I love Ivy's skirt!

  23. My girls both have super long hair and it drives me batty! One of them won't brush it and it tangles so badly. My hubs is a little obsessive over them having long hair, so we don't cut it but every few years. Her hair looks adorable and easy to manage!

  24. She's all grown up, oh my gosh!

Troy just saw her photo and said, "Is that my friend?"

  25. No- I'm with you. We like short hair on little girls. I first cut my daughter's hair short when she was 2 and it's been that way ever since (she's 7 1/2). One time it got to about shoulder length and she didn't like it. She likes how easy her hair is to manage when it's shorter. I do too!

Oh- Ivy's outfit is PRECIOUS! She is such a cutey, and that skirt is killer!

  26. love that skirt!!! and her hair looks adorable too

  27. Her hairstyle is stinkin' adorable.

  28. Her skirt is so cute! I think shorter hair is easier to manage anyway..

  29. Beauty Queen Superstar, that girl! That skirt is just fabulous :)

  30. Oh she is so adorable! Love the short cut. I had that on my girl, and she wanted to grow it out long... but it's not growing out very long, so I'm trying to make this same decision. I may just get it cut :)

  31. I LOVE her skirt! So much!

  32. I love short hair on little kids. Just looks so pretty. I like it on adults too. Just so stylish! I wish Lilla would do it again, she just has to be so girly with as much (super thin and therefore stringy) hair as she can muster. Gotta have those pigtails. :)

Oh, and I think you are doing just fine with this whole having a girl thing. No right or wrong way, just go with it!

  33. I love, love, love, Ivy's haircut! So adorable! I love short hair, period! I'm trying to convince my 3 year old that we're so over the long hair...but she' not having it : - )

  34. So, there is no right way to be a girl Mom. You do what you do and it is right for you.
My brother keeps his girls hair long FOREVER.
I don't. It gets scraggly and not looking great and when that happens, it gets cut.

Libby got her first cut today. It is still below her shoulders, but just barely.

I like hair with style, I think it looks much cuter...as evidenced by our darling girls.

I can't believe how grown up Ivy looks in all these pictures. When did that happen?????

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh how cute is that girl... love it!!! If only my kiddo hadn't cut her own hair again... and again... and then again... and now I guess she will be wearing hats for the rest of her ENTIRE life...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Could she get any cuter.....oh my:)))) Total sweetness:)))

  37. I love the new do!
And that skirt is gorgeous too.

  38. ohhh, the hair is perfect!! i cut emma's bangs early on, but then grew them out. and i've always kept her hair short. i'd go total pixie on her most days, but i think ken would divorce me. ;)

  39. Awe, that's totally a Gretchen 'do! LOVE it!

  40. Steph,

    Cutest haircut ever! Love it.

  41. We adopted our daughter when she was 5, and her hair was very fine and long and kind of stringy looking. Our stylist told us the same thing and it really worked well - her hair is so much thicker! She's 10 now and wanting to grow her hair out for Locks of Love but I like it better short :) Ivy is just too precious, no matter how her hair is styled!

  42. I love her cute little do! We do lots of braids and such, so her hair is long-ish, but I get frustrated because I *have* to do something with it or it looks stringy. We had it cut similar to this once and it was great! Spray a little water on it in the morning, run a brush through it and ta-da! Hair done! That sure is nice.

  43. Looks to me like you are doing it very, very right! She's adorable!

  44. So cute & adorable. I love her hair cut. I keep my daughter's short too. At first it was because she sucker her thumb and her hair, but it seems more well kept that way.

  45. So so cute.

my daughter has the same haircut except hers has grown out a bit. she wants it longer, but i look at pics of when it was just.like.ivy's and it's cuter like that...i fear a battle brewing :)
