I am not even kidding you that tonight while I sat on the driveway chalk-drawing whatever Ivy
But no, she meant "mote" like a remote control. Because our new mattress/bed has a remote control and can do all sorts of amazing things. Isn't she a hoot? I drew my best remote, too, btw. See there?
I have no idea why she made the bed on fire.
It's been several weeks now since we welcomed our new Serta iComfort adjustable bed into the family. I admit that initially I wasn't so sure about it. The first few night's sleeps were probably as can be imagined for a new bed- a bit awkward and unfamiliar- and this one was a special memory foam in the "Genius" style of the iComfort selection (on the more firmer side) at that. Our old bed was not even that old, and was a pillow top. But, it had my husband sleeping on the couch most nights because it was too soft, and me waking with constant backaches.
After the first week or so I found I was actually sleeping much more soundly on the iComfort. And Jeff had finally come back to bed. I fall asleep faster than I have in as long as I can remember. Granted, it could be in combination with the fact that Ivy sleeps in her own bed now, for which still feels really strange. Just the other morning we woke up with no kids in our bed- not even any middle-of-the-night-sleep-ninjas! And we kinda laid there and it was like weird. Jeff reminded me that we are entering a new chapter of our lives. No kids in the bed. It's wild. But also? it's my castle now and I get the bed-remote all to myself. Awesome.
We really noticed a difference when we went out of town for a couple days and lamented that the hotel bed just laid there, flat. Blah. We'd have to maneuver the pillows to watch the news. And we'd toss and turn almost all night. We are so spoiled with our new bed we both agreed. Among adjusting the bed however you want via remote control, there is also a PC/Lounge mode, positioning your legs and back just so. We are friends.
And of course the Serta iComfort comes in mattresses that just lie there- in four styles to choose from [$1299-$2499]. You don't have to have the adjustable platform but when they let me choose any one I wanted, um, it was a no brainer. (The Serta Motion Perfect adjustable base is an additional cost depending on which bed and size you buy.) And if you're not in the market for a new bed, the iComfort pillows [$79-$99] are hot stuff- no one is allowed to touch my contour-style iComfort pillow. You can visit icomfort.com to find a retailer nearest you.
We chose the Genius iComfort bed because my husband prefers a firmer mattress and I was honestly a little worried about the memory foam being a bit too form fitting. We visited an American Mattress store nearby to test them all out. I've definitely been surprised by how easy it was to "break in" and how you can totally jump on the bed (among other things wink) without making a sound or movement at all. Remember those commercials for a similar product where the wine glass won't spill? Yeah- it's like that!
Win! It's kind of crazy fun that I get to give away a Serta iComfort of the winner's choice. That means yes it can even be adjustable if you want, any size, any flavor of soft- or firm-ness. Serta gave me a roomy timeframe to host this giveaway and I thought Ivy's chalk promptings was a sign it was time to be a bed giver. Will it be yours?

The words I've said here are my own- thankfully!- and have not been changed or altered or even requested to be posted.

i'm seriously the first commenter?
ReplyDeletei'd love to have this bed. we haven't had a new one in about 10 years, and we're about to move into a new house, and well, new bed, new house...that would be sorta great.
Steph what a wonderful contest! I have done everything except tweeted about it.
ReplyDeleteI checked out the collection and would love the Serta Icomfort#174 Motion Perfect TXL/King Adjustable Base. The adjustability would be so nice!
We're a co-sleeping family and just found mold (MOLD!!!!) on the underside of our mattress. HOW it got there is beyond me. Ick ick ick ick ick.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had a new to us bed in 15 years. We would be so unbelievably grateful for a new awesome Serta......I've had so many sleepless nights these last few years, and if that dang sheep truck pulled up outside my house I think I would be a puddle of happiness!
I'd love to win this! My kids both have nicer mattresses than DH and I do and I'm ready for a comfier bed!

Your chalk drawings beat mine, seriously. Ivy is adorable, lol. I love her priorities! I'm surprised she hasn't refused to sleep in her own bed if yours is that comfy ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never owned a new bed and I'm currently sleeping on a used bed from freecycle that has mysterious stains on it. Yes, I was that desperate :) talk about GROSS not to mention uncomfortable! I've been trying to set aside some dough for a new bed but dang, they are expensive and money always seems to need to go towards other things instead.
We have what is supposed to be a great bed and I hate it. I would love to win this one please.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a new mattress. My hubby Andi were just discussing the fact that over the past month, our mattress has morphed from a thing of comfort into a torture device. My fingers are crossed!

ReplyDeleteWe bought a king sized bed when I was pregnant with my first, and he is just now spending some full nights away from us. Both of us wake up in the morning going - there's something different ... oh, there's no tiny person taking up most of the space!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear your husband is off the couch.
ReplyDeleteThat is a tremendous prize!! Here's hoping! =)
I would love to win a new bed! We just don't fit in a queen and we've discovered our sleep number is pretty much the same anyway....so low that we have dents in each side of the bed....but hey, that does come in handy for having Elsa in bed with me these first few weeks :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwesome giveaway! I would LOVE a new bed (not to mention we could totally use one)! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, they all look amazing. The Genius or Insight sound like my favorites, though.

What?! So excited about this contest it's currently 2 in the morning and I stubbled upon this. 39 weeks pregnant insomnia;) My husband recently had a 2 level spinal fusion and disc replacement. Our bed is about to do him in. Like you our bed is not that old but it is a pillow top, WAY to soft, and has body "divots" in it. How awesome would it be to win this!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how I'd love to win this. My sister *really* needs a new bed. [And now that I've put that in the comment I'll REALLY have to give it to her if I win.] =)

ReplyDeleteWe are so in the market for a new mattress! We always joke about how we got "duped" when we bought our last mattress. We were persuaded to buy the new "Olympic Queen." We had a queen bed, but the Olympic Queen mattress allows you to have a slightly larger mattress on the queen frame without having the expense of buying a new king bed. The sales guy said the industry was going the way of the Olympic Queen. Well, it's been more than 7 years and I still can't find Olympic Queen sheets and never did find a mattress cover so our current mattress has lovely stains. We are expecting baby number 3 (Shhhh haven't told anyone yet) and have to replace our roof so buying a new mattress has been put off yet again! Thanks for hosting this contest.

I'd love to win a king size mattress. Not that it would fit in our small bedroom but I'd figure it out!!
ReplyDeleteLightning McQueen - I'm forced to draw him every time we get out the chalk. My four year old talks of nothing besides Cars right now!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful does that mattress sound! When people ask us how in the world we can stand camping with 4 kids, our answer is seriously that the mattress in the camper is more comfortable than the hand me down full mattress we have been sleeping on (with 3-4 kids between us) in our room. iComfort sounds like a dream:)

ReplyDeleteHi Steph! Thanks for this great opportunity. I'd love to win a bed for my son. He's in an old hand-me-down twin from the neighbors...it's all I could do for him at the time. A new lil bed for my biggest boy would make this mama's heart SWELL!!
ReplyDeleteluv, liz
We're in the market for a new mattress- the current one hurts my husband's back. So glad you're enjoying your new bed!

ReplyDeleteOh man, you have no idea how much a new mattress would do for us! We got a cheap one years ago with a new baby and we were broke. My hubby is 6'2" and his feet hang off our current bed. We haven't slept well in years, always waking up moaning and back and legs cracking when we stand up. This would be heaven!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like the Revolution.. but I'd have to go find one to jump on before choosing!
ReplyDeleteA new mattress would be heavenly! We were given our current one and we both seem to be waking up with back problems.

ReplyDeleteOh Steph, what a blessing winning a bed would be. In 9 years of marriage there has never been enough "extra" for a new bed and I won't go into debt to get one, so hubby and I continue to sleep poorly on a hand my down bed that was his sister's when she and her husband were newlyweds. Considering their youngest starts college in the fall, this bed is old old old!

ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention in my first comment that this would be wonderful to win for a few reasons... Our bedroom set was my dad's when he was little. For a long time it was the guest room furniture at my grandma's house. When she downsized I was in high school so I got the set but it went into my dad's basement. Then I took it to college with me where it lived in a few apartments. Then my husband and I got married and it moved with us to an apartment in a new state. And now it's in our house. So um... we could use a new one. :)
