I am almost legally blind without my glasses, and this morning I was getting out of the shower- and the way the sunlight shined on Ivy's eyes, they glowed this bright blue, almost purple. Even to the almost blind.
She has pockets in her pants for candy! and stickers!
And a sneak peek to a possible someday-post about having a girl after all boys:
Yes, I had convinced my soul that having a little girl was scary, that it would mean having a "little me" and truth be told, I am not always a fan of myself. I do see so much of myself in Ivy but ...it is all the good parts. It's like God created her to show me the reflection I have never been able to clearly see. I have new eyes.
Ivy's hat is from the San Diego Hat Co, ruffle socks by Matilda Jane, & painter overalls from Tea Collection. (I buy all her Tea Collection clothes thru my affiliate link.)

I just can't get over how big she's gotten!!!!
ReplyDeleteSteph, I'm pretty sure I could pick your kids out of a lineup by their footwear alone. I absolutely love this.

Perfectly put: "It's like God created her to show me the reflection I have never been able to clearly see."
ReplyDeleteHer hair has gotten so long!
ReplyDeleteAnd your words ring true over here, so beautifully said...
Beautiful words. My favorite part, "It's like God created her to show me the reflection I have never been able to clearly see." She is beautiful and so are you.
ReplyDeletethat last photo is super lovely. she looks so grown up! it scares me!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you're learning to see your own beauty reflected through her. And in turn she will be able to see her own beauty as she grows up in you.
ReplyDeleteShe has perfect little geisha lips...I love it.
ReplyDeleteShe's ridiculous cute and beautiful.
They Must.Stop.Growing. Gah! She is BEAUTIFUL! And oh so big, momma! Sigh. <3

ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you for this post! I totally welled up. I am 32 weeks and 2 days pregnant with my first baby. The ultrasound tech was 99.9% certain our baby is a girl. I must admit that I have the same concerns you did. I really needed your eloquent words, "It's like God created her to show me the reflection I have never been able to clearly see." Thank you! I hope my girl brings me the love, inspiration, and clarity that yours seems to have brought you. <3
ReplyDeleteI've simulataneously wanted and not wanted to have a daughter for the exact reasons you listed. A small me scares me. But to have a daughter, through whom I could see the beautiful, well, that makes my heart quiver with joy. Maybe someday. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your shots today, Steph.
We have all girls, yap 3 of them, and I have to say I LOVE it, but I would also love a boy, Lord willing in the future
ReplyDeleteOh You have a beautiful daughter... everything about her is to love!!! Hope you guys have a lovely weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteI tried to convince myself that maybe I was "supposed" to be an all-boys mom. And then I had Corinne and I have never felt so comfortable as a parent as when I am parenting her...
ReplyDeleteI'm just a couple weeks away from welcoming our first daughter after a trio of sons! Your posts concerning yours (while always poignant and humorous) have been especially meaningful to me as the days tick by :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post! She is growing up way to fast!!
ReplyDeleteShe has beautiful lips.
ReplyDeleteAnd she looks much more grown up and mature than Peabody.
And I can't wait to read the rest of this post. At six, Bean is the best parts of me, with hints of the things I'd rather not have to face about myself mixed in. The same is true of my mother (and her mother). Each generation of women sheds light on the other - it's humbling and fascinating to see where many of my qualities came from, and inspiring to see where they might have the potential to go.
after 3 sons, I had a daughter, and can't stop re-reading your beautiful words "It's like God created her to show me the reflection I have never been able to clearly see"....even posted it as my FB status (credited it to you of course). From the reaction of my friends, i expect you will be getting alot of new traffic.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!
look at that spunky little gal. what a honey.
ReplyDeleteOh you know I love this. The pictures too, of course. And your words on having a girl. I'll totally understand if time escapes you and you can't finish that post, but of course you know I'm looking forward to it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steph.
A thousand X's and O's about this post. *Love*
ReplyDeleteI think that's what I fear most for my girls, that they will somehow 'become' the worst of me. God is always reminding me that they are NOT me, and won't be. SO thankful for that! Having a girl is fun...and Ivy is extra-much so :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post so much. You know how much it comforts me. Love you.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!

Gaww... hands in pockets! G has a pair of pants with suspenders, and she likes to put her hands in her pockets too... kills me! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteShe's so darling, Steph.
ReplyDeleteJust saw Beth's posts...I don't know what's happening, but wanted you to know that I'm praying.

I had a little boy after 6 girls and i too was afraid that he would not be a real boy. Well I was wrong he is all boy and it sometimes scares me. In just a few weeks he will have a little brother and then I will get to see what it is like to have 2 boys.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so much like a girl from "the big city" in that outfit. And so stylish.
ReplyDeleteTea is my absolute favorite clothing brand for little girls. I think I might need to add an affiliate badge to my site just because of that. Did you sign up through Tea? Off to research it...
