the arts & homework center in my new-to-me hutch
I've conquered more corners than I could have imagined and it's only Wednesday. That's awesome. And really is kind of a miracle.
I started leading a small group at church (formerly known to many as Sunday School) for 3-5 year olds and they sing a song to the verse Phillipians 4:6-7...
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (repeat like a dozen times)
I can not get it out of my head.
And I don't want to.
(repeat like a thousand times.)

Yay! Your hutch looks awesome! I love the jars...so cool AND functional :) And thanks for sharing that verse. Perfect reminder of God's peace!
ReplyDeletewhat a happy hutch :) I miss you friend! can't wait to drop by in just about a month!!
ReplyDeletesuch a happy looking hutch and very functional. I use to love teaching Sunday School when you and your brother were little. Enjoy these times!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute hutch! I wish I had room in my home for a hutch. We have odd walls and fire place placement... no room.
ReplyDeleteI love that verse!

How could I not simply adore this post? I somehow heard of your blog a couple years ago, but I just *discovered* it yesterday. I just transplanted from Indiana to Texas in May...it's always good to hear from a fellow Hoosier. ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastically blessed and peaceful day!
Yay for conquering corners!
ReplyDeleteI led the 'children's worship center' at our last church -- even though I never thought I really qualified as a 'sunday school mom' like you wrote about previously. But there was nothing like breaking the message down for little kids for me to actually finally *get it* myself. You know?
happy wednesday. xo
Hey, Stephanie. . .so glad your New Year is starting out well for you. 2011 is going to be a great year! I have a question for you: I love how you collect and re-use jars. . .do you have any tricks for getting the labels off? I recycle jars alot because I can't seem to get the labels off cleanly and I would love to use them more like you have here. TIA! Molly
ReplyDeleteThose are my absolute favorite verses in the Bible. Our pastor prayed those over us when we were in the midst of infertility so many years ago. Love it!
ReplyDeleteSide note: I'm totally going to start saving my spaghetti sauce and pickle jars so I can so fashoinable display things. Great idea!
So glad it rocking along smoothly!!! I just managed a day without doing any jobs ... just chilling with the kids - it is nothing short of a miracle for me who likes to do do do do stuff!!! Just chilling - good for all of us and the hardest thing in the world for me!!!
ReplyDeleteyea for conquering corners! do they sing the song from the seeds family worship? we have that cd and i love that bible verses are getting into our heads and sticking!
ReplyDeleteMolly, I do love jars!! :) I find that just washing them in hot water usually works and I scrub off in the water. Or occasionally I'll get out the windex and scrape off that way.
ReplyDelete[And if it still doesn't work, I sometimes like the "distressed" look with a bit of label still on OR will cover it up with a ribbon! :) ]
Steph
I will try that, thank you! I love, love, love your blog and all that you have to say. : )
ReplyDeleteAre you doing the actions to the song as well?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting so much done this week.
Did you that that's my favorite scripture, and I almost emailed it to you the other day? Huh.
ReplyDeletewhat a great verse to make into a song! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeletethat's one of my memory verses for my study!!! love it and need to imprint it on my brain!!!
ReplyDeleteFavorite verse! I'm so glad those lucky little kiddos get to learn it early in life and cling to it. I memorized it during some stressful days in college and I think I have to remind myself of it every single day.
ReplyDeletelove how beautifully you always state your thoughts. that verse is a treasure to keep focused on. and your new hutch with the jars, just beautiful & peaceful looking!
ReplyDeleteThat has been my "life verse". Funny how it applies to both children AND adults. I think God gives us extra "motivation" to conquer those corners and closets the first few weeks of January every year. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh how I LOVE my with it times~ Right now I am pulling myslef up from a huge over-do~ Im now INSPIRED~
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the hutch. Cute and functional. Love the song too.
ReplyDeletelove this and your beautiful heart. and boy, do i love those verses, i need to learn that song!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing major corner and wall and room cleaning, too. So much, in fact, that my entire house is a disaster as a result. But the end is near! I can see the light and it will be grand once everything has a place and we have less things to maintain. Purging and sorting galore!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI love this scripture. My translation reads slightly different but of course has the same understanding. I love reading verse from different Bibles. Sometimes it can even clarify a thought. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've been working on organizing our playroom-I have decided I must send the boys away in order to make any progress though! :) I love the photo of your grandma's button collection; it is so cool.
ReplyDeletelove the use of the jars to organize everything. it looks great! and i have that same verse posted right above our kitchen sink. it always helps me get things in perspective when i get all worked up, worried or stressed about something.
ReplyDeleteThat is my such a wonderful verse. Definitely one to repeat often. My other fave? Philippians 4:8 - the very next one.
ReplyDeleteThis is a new favorite.
ReplyDeleteI kind of want to print it.
Your heart is lovely, Steph.
..S.S.
That is my favorite verse in this season on life that I'm in!!!!! The whole chapter (phil 4) as so much things to learn from!!!! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI'm memorizing that verse right now - so fitting for our season in life.
ReplyDelete(I wish I knew a melody to go with it).
(I really need it to be stuck in my head).
