Gray asked me what I wanted him to be when he grows up.
"Oh, you can be anything you want to be."
He asked if he could be a little each of everything?
I laughed, "like what?"
Oh, like part superhero, policeman, skeleton- with two bone arms, and part cowboy.
I could totally see him being all of that.
On the 1st day of every month I take photos of my children. .You can see previous month one photos here.

Love it. He's a good one. ;)
ReplyDeleteahaha..love it. great photo!
ReplyDeleteOh, I could squish them all in big squishy hugs! Although hugging a skeleton (even part-skeleton) might not be so squishy, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI love all the Gray-isms.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the first of the month - just to see your cute guys in action!!! Too cute as always!!!
ReplyDeleteThank GOODNESS for children who don't yet feel the pressure to limit themselves. I hope he keeps feeling that way forever <3 Such wonder.
ReplyDeleteGray is hilarious!!! Love the picture btw :-)
ReplyDelete4-5 is such a fun age. Full of the funny. Your kids are so cute, Steph.
ReplyDeleteI will always love that you do this. Best idea ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad Gray will always have a skeleton ;)
Haha! That is so awesome; Gray is just the coolest little guy. I love the photos each month-I need to get on doing something similar with my kids. I just can't believe how big everyone is getting!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'd like a couple more exciting careers and a pair of boney arms, too. (Well, bonier than they are now, anyway) so I can totally relate. Adorable shot of your gang as usual.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. Seth told me he wants to be a Dentist or just stay a Viking. Yes, my son is a viking, didn't you know that?
ReplyDeleteSide note - Libby saw this picture and said, "Me play wif Ivy tomorrow".
Oh I wish...
A great way to start Dec. One. Gray made me laugh. Great pic.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd held onto that line of thinking longer.
ReplyDeleteI really could have been a ballerina archeologist superhero firefighter.
Definitely.
When people used to ask me what I wanted to be I was always sort of horrified that I was expected to choose ONE THING to do and be for the rest of my life. (Little did I know I would grow up and fall in love with a military man, and so move all over and get to have a ton of different jobs!) To me it is still kind of a horrifying thought, actually... I mean, not that other people do it and are lifelong architects or nurses or whatever, but just that *I'M* supposed to be one thing. I don't feel at all like one thing.
ReplyDeleteI love Gray a lot, I love that he doesn't want to be "normal" things like a doctor and a policeman and a marine biologist. He has no limits! And I love Tristina's comment.
Gray needs a book.
ReplyDeleteAnd your first of the month photos are the best.
The skeleton party cracks me up! HA HA HA! He's too much!
ReplyDeleteYou're kids dress so 'hip' Steph. I just love it.
Great picture, and beautiful nursing photo with Ivy below. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture-love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd your Gray reminds me of my youngest sister when she was about 5. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would proudly respond with, "I want to be a fire truck!" (not a firefighter-she wanted to be the fire truck) :)
Your kids look so great, and cool in this pic! Descriptive words I know...
ReplyDeleteThey are getting so big, Steph! I love the way Gray talks :)
ReplyDeleteSweet. I remember when Evan wanted to be a dog. A DOG.
ReplyDeleteYour "One" pictures make me want to have 3 more babies all at once.
ReplyDelete<3
Are you going to continue the "ONE" series next year? I love it.
ReplyDeleteha! i think being a little bit of everything that he loves is a pretty good thing to aspire for. i love your 1st of the month photos - your family is beautiful!
ReplyDeletexo,
erika
Love your month one pictures. And I love that Gray wants to be a little of it all. He already knows variety is the spice of life.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Oh, your son is adorable! I'm 21 and I still wish I could be a little of everything, a different career each day.
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed watching the way the kiddos grow through your once a month photos. I'm feeling inspired to try it myself.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I feel like Gray. I feel like I'm a smattering of everything.
Will you thank him for inspiring these thoughts in my mind this morning?
I love your 1st of the month tradition. In fact, I look forward to it. :)

Steph, am really enjoying surfing through your blog -- i haven't really been reading many blogs lately (you know, they take TIME!) -- your kids are ADORABLE, and now I'm going to check out the pics of them each first of the month!
