Always.

In the parking lot, before we go inside the library, I remind Gray-and-Ivy to use whisper voices.

They listen wide-eyed and good-like and hunch their backs, crouch their bodies like they are sneaking up on someone

and tip toe the rest of the way in.

We made our snowflakes yesterday. School was canceled from the snowstorm, and today they even have a 2-hour delay. It feels like time doesn't exist, in our winterwonderland, no where to go, no one to be. We are going past two months without TV. It's easier to breathe in here, and we pass the time with

each other.

  3. I love this so much. My kids only get to watch a couple shows on PBS in the morning and that is it. I love how they play together without the distraction of the TV.

  10. How much snow do you have? I read about Lafayette, IN having lots of snow as well as South Bend. We have none and it is going to be close to 60 today. Oh well it could easily be the other way around, especially in March (our snowiest month.)

  11. My kids aren't quite old enough for making snowflakes yet. We ended up with a bunch of confetti and lots of tears! :)

    Lovely thoughts, though.

  12. need to hear more on the no tv. we have considered it so many times but i have never done it and my husband doesn't really want to. we only let ds (4.5) watch about an hour of tv while dd is asleep in the middle of the day as is...maybe i should just accept that that works for us right now.

  18. I'm taking the plunge and we will be going without television here starting the new year. We will have Pandora playing during the day, but no t.v. I may need your advice on how best to introduce this and keep with it, at first!

Love your snowflakes, and the pics are beautiful!

  19. We make snowflakes also, or Wycinanki (paper cuttings). My older one started off with tissue paper and just ripping little bits where I would show her to at the age of 1 1/2. At 5, she looooves hearts so cuts them out constantly. Great idea. The tv causes nothing but wasted time.

  20. I'm glad that being without TV is working for you. I found it far more freeing than I expected it to be, myself.
