September ONE

September ONE

This morning the kids claimed it was freezing! so they put on long sleeves and pants and were shuffling around the house wrapped in blankets.

all four, 9.1.10

They are in desperate need of haircuts, (welcome to the club) but they all also don't want to get their hair cut so I keep putting it off. It's only hair.

silly bandz

I noticed while taking this photo that Noah was wearing Silly Bandz to school.

9.1.10

This month Ivy turns two.

This day, being the first, is a much-needed new beginning for all of us. I'm glad for it. Welcome to my life, September.

I take photos of my kids together the first of every month. See previous month ONEs here.

  1. I love their outfits, they are so ready for Fall! It'll be 97 degrees in NY today, I think we're going to the pool...

  2. You know what? As much as I love that you do this? It's a reminder that life is FLYING by. Also, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to steal this idea but I don't want to steal this idea but I really want to steal this idea. You know?

And your kids? So cute and amazing and I bought Ivy's gift last week and Anna is JEALOUS!

Hooray for September and all the good is going to bring.

  4. Beth- I'm sure I'm not the only one with the idea like this! Do it.

Julie- it's like a rubber bracelet that kids love right now. When not worn, it's in a shape of animals, sports shapes, etc.

I hope September treats you well.

  7. I love seeing Ivy taking such good care of her baby. And you are right, it's only hair.

  8. I AGREE with Beth- I really want to copy this idea, but I don't want to copy this idea, LOL. Can you make it a linky thing, and we can all join in?

Maybe since Beth wants to copy this idea, she will be so generous as to make you a button! ha!

  9. I have absolutely loved this series you've been doing this year. Loved it. Are you familiar with those photo books from Shutterfly, or one of the other online photo processing sites? It would be cool if you make a photo book at the end of the year with outtakes from these sessions you do...

  10. I cannot BELIEVE how big Ivy looks in these pictures. My little one turns two this month as well-the 25th- and I guess she probably looks just about as big. Sadface/happyface.
Love your First of The Month pics. :)

  11. I look forward to these monthly pics now!

And, like Beth, want to 'steal' the idea! I was waiting until K turns ONE for some reason (I don't know why) but plan to start next month, because, guess what? She turns one on Oct. 1st! :)

    Perfect timing, right?

  12. Oh and p.s. They are all so cute and I love their hair! :)

  13. Oh dear, my boys need haircuts too!! My Carter looks like a little girl right now, but I'm afraid if I cut his hair, he'll look too old. He should remain a baby. At least that's how I feel about it.

  14. The chairs are so vintage chic...love them. And of course, the kiddos look adorable and sweet, like always. I cannot believe Ivy is turning TWO. That blows my mind. I know you don't think there are any more babies, but I would REALLY like to see you make more beautiful, sweet, amazing children. Because you are so good at it.

  15. I love Ivy's crown. So cute! It sure doesn't feel cold to me around here. Lol...I guess they're ready for fall to get here. I'm not sure if I am or not. I go back and forth. I like the summer-like weather, but now that I'm back to work/school I don't have time to enjoy it.

  16. Turning two already!!! where did the time go!!!!

  17. I love it! All my boys look so unkempt right now...I finally dragged two of them in for haircuts, but they insisted the cuts not be TOO short so now it's just the slightly-shorter bedraggled dog look. I am really looking forward to the fall, beginning of the school year, fresh new pencils and fresh new beginnings!

  20. As Beth said, I totally want to steal this idea. Also, I think I will. I hope you don't mind. We'll call it "inspired by." And I will definitely link-y over to you and give you credit for the superb idea. Baby #2 is two weeks old. This is the first month I can can take a photo of them together.

  21. This is kind of unrelated, but not totally so I'll just throw it out there but to save a few bucks I bought clippers at Target and started cutting the boys hair myself. Even hubby lets me do his. Boy hair tends to be easy to learn how to cut, and everyone's locks are kept up much better now that mama has got some clippers and isn't afraid to use 'em.

  22. Hyacynth,

I'd love to do this and literally had the scissors to Noah's hair the other night, with my fingers all like the stylist holds hers but I totally chickened out!!!! I don't know what it is with me and hair, but I am awful at even cutting PAPER!

  23. Oh would you look at the first photo of everyone getting ready - man your kids are so cute. I wish silly bands would spread around the world to here - my kids think they are so cool!!!We are also in desperate need of haircuts... d.e.s.p.e.r.a.t.e... and I keep putting it off because it is a bit of an effort!!! We book the hairdresser off for the morning and we arrive and she cuts and cuts and cuts and when we leave it looks like a large hairy creature has been around to visit for the morning....

  25. It's always fun to see your first of the month family pictures. You have such a beautiful family!

  26. So cute! September 1st was definitely a new beginning for our family as we welcomed Child #5 into our hearts. She came 3 weeks early and was pink and healthy and the best surprise we could start the month with!

  27. I love that you are doing this! Great idea :) The first thing my Violet said when she saw that last picture was "She has Taylor Swift!" - that would be what she named her Bitty Baby :) Story to go along with your yard sale story. We were at one this spring and there was a whole table of baby dolls. Violet walks from across the yard to the table and grabbed a Bitty Baby off it and asked if we could get it b/c she "always wanted twins". My kids have a twin thing - they think they are SO COOL! Anyway, the babe had a missing big toe that we learned was chewed off by the family dog (hee hee) and the mama of the house told V that she could have it for $.25 - that's right a quarter! Hubs asked her if she wanted to send the doll, now named Lily, off to get a new leg but Violet said she likes her just the way she is. Awww. Have a great day Steph!
