Return To Sender

Yesterday I attended Jenny's baby's "baptimes" (Noahspeak) yesterday in Chicago. I decided to take just Noah with me, "like a date!"

We stopped by Starbucks on the way, he loves a vanilla bean frappuccino. And I, an iced latte. We listened to Elvis, I told him about today being the anniversary of his death. (It was a day always remembered when I was growing up.)

He kept track of the time on his watch, and reminded me when we needed to feed the meter. He showed me he knows how to spin a quarter.

And when it was time for cake, I made sure he got a really big piece.

  1. This is so special, Steph. I'm sure he'll remember this forever. I often have special times like this with my oldest, most often when every one else falls asleep. Last night he helped me mow the lawn and after ward I allowed him to steer the wheel of the riding mower without my help.

Not only was it special for Noah but I know it had to of been just as special, sweet and wonderful for you too.

  2. I'm just starting to realize the importance of going on individual "dates" with my kids. It's important and special to both of us.

  5. I love it when I am reminded how uniquely special each one is, and it is even better when you are really able to enjoy their uniqueness.

  7. I'm so glad you had this special time with Noah. I still remember where I was when you called me saying he'd been born. Next time we definitely need to make sure we get that picture of our first-borns together. Glad you guys could make it, and again, sorry about that heat in my church-yikes! Love you!

  8. I took The Chicken with me when I went to work the other day at the coffee shop. And while at times I wanted to yell at her because I wasn't getting stuff done that I needed to because she wasn't reading her book as promised, it was nice to share the time with her and a peach muffin.

  13. I LOVE dates with just my Ethan. We just did a back-to-school date and he told me there were three things he loved about the day. 1. He got a blizzard (for the first time) 2. He got a cool backpack. 3. Just me and him.

    heart. melting.
