May all your days be gold my child

on the dock, sooc

My favorite part in this whole day was watching their hair blow when we took the speed boat out on the lake.

I'm reminded, who am I to not let them be kids?

with my expectations, unnecessary burdens,

These days are theirs as much as they are mine.

  1. Stephanie, it's so heartwarming. I feel the same way all the time. I have to remind myself that all these summer activities, although they are not my cup of tea, are for my my kids. They will cherish these memories for years to come. Great post! I love your pics too! You are a great photographer. You always seem to capture the moment.

  4. Well said. One time I left a box of toys to donate on the floor when Evie started pulling them all out. I started getting frustrated, until my husband said "well babe, it IS a box of TOYS, and she IS just a kid."

Ever since then I try to remind myself to just let her do what kids do if it's not really harming anyway. It's not always easy though.

  23. I can so relate.

this weekend we took the kids on an overnight adventure where, I admit I was probably too hard on them. I have a hard time figuring out where that fine line is between just being kids and being respectful to those around us.
