Still babywearing

still babywearing

It's doesn't happen as often, but I still keep a sling or mei tai with me at all times. It's usually to keep her safe, or to help me when I'm on my own with the other children.

At the beach yesterday she played nicely for so long, but eventually just wanted to run off and away from me, so I told her she could play in the sand or she'd have to go in the mei tai. She climbed right onto my back [she chose the mei tai.]

It allowed me to be attentive to the boys and still know she was safe.

Just when I think our babywearing time is coming to an end, I am assured that for both of us, it's still hanging on tight... holding us close.

  1. that is so sweet! i can only hope that my little guy likes it as much as i do when he is big enough to run off. that will be almost as hard as weaning him :(

  2. Me too! My little girl turns two next month and I still keep the ergo and sling with me at all times. I love it so much.

  3. I cherish the moments that I can still wear Paige :) It happens a few times a week, I put her in the Ergo from the car to the beach, sometimes at the grocery store, for walks when she gets tired.
I love it. The closeness never gets old.

  4. Oh, I love that! With my 16 month old not yet walking, we definitely babywear a few times a week and I look forward to continuing even after she's walking. What Mei Tei do you like? I have a borrowed Baby Hawk, but it goes up so high on her neck...she really doesn't like it in the front carry.

I have a really old Freehand baby carrier mei tai that I love (the "newer" version is ok, too) and Baby So Smart mei tai (I like this one a lot.)

  7. I find the same thing with my 22-month-old. Babywearing is on the wane, for sure, but it's definitely not over.

  9. Audrey is almost 19 months and I still wear her (I'm also 23 weeks pregnant) occasionally. Well, mainly mowing grass. :) And she loves it. I can't wait for my newborn to get here to wear her too!

  13. What a sweet picture and what a sweet moment! My youngest is 19 months now and is built so heavy and solid that he's getting hard for me to carry, and yet our 3 yr old is a thin little peanut and still loves to climb up into my arms, and I let her, a lot, and I keep thinking how much easier it would be to wear her than her little brother...!

  14. I LOVE the shadow of her pigtail!! I could meditate on that all day, couldn't you? Such a great picture. My boy and I are done, I think, sadly. He's heavy, I'm old, and we both really like to move about life freely now. But I'll enjoy watching you and Ivy as long as you both last! :)

  17. That is just like Big Sister and I. She still spends time in the wrap or the Ergo. We had to fly home from visiting family in Florida yesterday and she spent the whole day in the wrap. She slept most of the time. She will ask for it at times. I love that it is still something we share - even if it is less now that she can walk (and I was worried wearing her would keep her from walking). :)

she and i take naps together sometimes, and even though i always think it's the last time, it never is. and i'm so glad!
