(Oh, bee tee dubs, she's ONE YEARS OLD WITH THIRTEEN YEARS WORTH OF OPINIONS.)
As I was pushing her in the cart to the parking lot, an old man was sitting in a car nearby, with his window down, and he said "Can I look at your baby?"
I obliged, and Ivy smiled and he went on about how special children are, what a blessing, and I agreed.
And he was one of thirteen children, and told me a story, "My Mama always said if there are children in heaven, then I don't want to go there."
And he laughed. And told me that story again like he hadn't just seconds before.
I loved when hub's grandmother was alive, she always told the same stories, but after a while of listening I would finish the story and prompt her on more. It was amazing the things she would tell me when I would give her mind the mental bump it needed (so to speak) so she could elaborate. Now when people want to know something about the history of the lake cottage or about grandma in general they head in my direction
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteHe told you the story AGAIN? Ha ha! Love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm guessing Ivy's new backpack is super cute! :)
Awww. That makes me sad (and happy) on a number of levels.
ReplyDelete:)
I just want to be where my children are, while they're still children. And probably when they're not children, too. We'll see.

ReplyDeleteOh, you can hardly blame that mama, after 13 kids and probably doing it ALL by herself and without our modern conveniences of dishwashers, washers, dryers... or any help from her husband. Can you imagine? She probably was never able to leave the house even! Oh, goodness. That poor mama, I hope she's enjoying heaven, kids or not! :)
ReplyDelete"bee tee dubs" - that makes me laugh. Your Ivy and my Carlee would make quite a pair with their opinions, and they're about 6 weeks apart in age... :)
ReplyDeleteI think that toddlers are the most opinionated people on the PLANET. They have to make their voices heard, yo.
ReplyDeleteI love the last line of this post. I totally got the picture of this guy with that one line.
ReplyDeleteYou. Are something, miss stephanie.
