A few weeks ago I was shopping and found this canvas, and it took my breath away.
It didn't just speak to me, but it was me. For me.
So I didn't even think about it really, I picked it up and bought it quickly. And when the lady asked if it was a gift, should she wrap it? I said yes. It was a gift. For me.
If you only knew. Sometimes I want you to, want someone to.
I am a broken writer, I collect the words all day.
I am a lonely painter. I live in a box of paints.*
I think I'd like to take an art class. I'm going to look into it.
Canvas "Believe in healing" by Kelly Rae Roberts, photos taken by me and posted with Kelly's permission. I also just bought her book and have just decided that Today is the perfect day to start reading it.
*lyrics Case of You, Joni Mitchell

This is as breathtakingly beautiful as you.
ReplyDeleteI know you have your story...and I know it's scary to tell, but sometimes you just need to let the words flow out in one big exhale. I'm always here and always safe to breathe your story out, whenever that day comes. I love you.
Oh Steph, it's gorgeous. It's so you. (Or at least the bit of you I know from reading your blog these years.)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Wear more skirt :-) Love it!
ReplyDeleteSteph,
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely beautiful. I can see how it is something you picked up immediately. In fact, from the interactions I've had with you those are lessons you are living and have taught me.
"Tell you story" & "Believe in healing." It is perfect!
Love to you today,
Katie
I love coming here and reveling in your words. Somehow you always know how to touch my heart while you're pouring out your own.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
And I love your gift; never a truer message. Believe in healing. Oh, yes, I surely do. And I believe in healing through writing.

ReplyDeletehonor your intuition...
if we all could do more of that.
*le sigh*
The colors are absolutely gorgeous! Love it! And I love the "wear more skirts" too! :) Have a blessed weekend, Steph!
ReplyDeleteLove that canvas. Love this blog post. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I'm glad you found it. Somehow, I think, these things have a way of reaching out to us when we need them.
ReplyDeleteAnd today I think I will wear a skirt. :)
It suits you and your words.
ReplyDeleteit is breath taking and such great words to live by:)
ReplyDeleteI love it. It does seem to suit you, from what I know of you! And what a great reminder of your beliefs each day!
ReplyDeleteOMG its GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfectly you, Steph. It's like the artist created just for you.

Ooh that Joni song gives me goosebumps. It's a fav.
ReplyDeleteKelly Rae's book got me started thinking...about what I wasn't doing with my life. Kelly Rae's e-course (that I'm doing now) has changed my life! She's inspiring, encouraging, sharing and REAL! You are very lucky to have gifted yourself with this wonderful piece. Enjoy it and let it speak to the authentic you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. The painting and the post.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much about this post :) joni mitchell is always somewhere in my subconscious! And than painting, gorgeous. I recently saw a bracelet that inspired those "made for me" feelings. It said on it "and she lived the life she loved" ... its ordered and on its way :) love those moments, the ones that evoke eveything creative and beautiful in us.
ReplyDeleteSo perfect.
ReplyDeleteTruth longs to be set free. It eats away at it's place of captivity, especially when that place is our heart.
Our heart strings, yours and mine, will never be broken. Mine tugs, yours tugs, we know. I'm always here.
xoxo
absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeletejust like you. i love it.
our stories, our whole stories, are almost impossible to tell, aren't they? it is unbelievable to me sometimes that no one....not one person....knows my whole story except me. maybe it is this way for everyone?
Oh my gosh I love that.
ReplyDelete*love*
ReplyDeleteThat IS you!
ReplyDeleteI loved the piece before I could read the words.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing and I can't wait to read more of your story.
p.s. Skirt wearing is awesome!!
its beautiful, you will know when it feels right to share some of your story. Maybe its just a nugget at a time, whatever feels right to you. I hope you gather strength just even if its to breathe easier from this art...its beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just took a 3-hour painting class with "Painting with a Twist." I had never painted on canvas before. The teacher guides you through the painting step by step. Everyone paints the same thing. It was a blast! I'm proud of my piece! Painting with a Twist is a franchise. Maybe there is one in your area.
ReplyDeletePerfection.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you should definitely take an art class. I took an oil painting class several years ago (pre-Laurel) and it was WONDERFUL. The color mixing part alone made me so, so happy.
And now it's fun to have pieces of art that I painted hanging in our house.
It's lovely. Like you.
ReplyDeleteI have a piece of her artwork...just a print though. LOVE the canvas. And I love that you bought it for yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, I LOVE it!!! I want one!!!
ReplyDeleteOH that is so very pretty and meaningful and perfect for you!!
ReplyDeleteI need to do some good, therapeutic shopping like that.
Thanks for sharing this with us Steph!
That canvas is breathtaking...and reminds me of you so much.
ReplyDeleteFor you. For sure.
Where did you buy it?

I love it!! We all have a story to tell I suppose and one day we'll begin, but until then I'm all about wearing those skirts!! Beautiful, thanks for sharing it with me.
ReplyDeleteI bought this book and it's AMAZING! I am itching to get my hands on supplies and start unleashing this creative part that is tucked ever so neatly inside my heart.
ReplyDeleteNell
My heart stopped.
ReplyDeleteJust. Yes.
Good for you, Steph.
That painting, that sentiment, beyond powerful.
hey! I have her sister!! I got it as a gift during a painful divorce and it has given me so much peace, love and inspiration. I hope she does that for you too. :)
ReplyDeletehere's a picture of it.
