My new shower curtain

"Today I'm going to buy a new shower curtain, and new towels to hang on the towel rack. And maybe! even a new tissue cube cover. One room at a time, I think, and starting small with the bathroom is totally do-able for me, today." -me

I'm on a mission to make every single room in my [small] house my favorite.

A couple weeks ago I decided that if I was going to start at all, I'd have to start small. So, I went shopping for a new shower curtain for our upstairs bathroom and was determined not to just settle on something nice at Target. I went to every store (and online) until I found exactly what I wanted.

And on a couple trips up to Chicago with friends I snatched up the perfect accessories.

I am not a designer, but I do love pretty things in my home. This bathroom isn't even one that guests see when they come over. But I see it every day.

    We don't own our home but we've really been trying to make the most of it since we plan on being here a while :)

  2. I like to think outside the [Target} box too. It came together beautifully! I love your attitude about making every room your favorite. We didn't get to pick our current house since it came with the job, but I've loved adding our own touches. Finally all of my old antiques feel at home.

    Looking forward to seeing the playroom!

  17. I love this.... I need to do this too. One room at a time.... We rent so its hard to personalize without really changing things up, but we need to make it cozier and personal!

  24. I love the shower curtain! and the refresh accessories and it all looks just great! I too am going room by room cleaning out cleaning up and then making each special for me and my family. Our colors, our loves and like you the playroom for all those toys! I'm excited to follow along with your changes! Perhaps i will post mine too!

    Oh and I am trying to move beyond target too. It's so hard with that liberty of london though!

    I think that those sorts of rooms are my favourite to do. The ones that others don't see. It's like a statement of my own self-worth. I matter, and I deserve a space that I enjoy. I'm glad you found yours!

    And I know what you mean. When we lived in a house that needed EVERYTHING I started with one room. Then I just wanted to be in that room but it really does help to have a place to go that makes you feel good enough to work on the rest. :)

    I like your mission. I've been feeling that lately, too... but my house is not too small and VERY WHITE - mindnumbingly white... builder-square and empty. YUCK. I only have 2 rooms somewhat finished... and the kitchen is driving me BATTY - UGLY!

And least of all because you have led me to finally find the perfect answer for new curtains for Eleanor's very first bedroom!!! THANK YOU!!! I'll be purchasing two of those teal shower curtains (yes, I know they are for showers, but I am confident that I can make them work as curtains) and they will be SO fabulous for my daughter's new and very own bedroom in our new home (we're moving this Saturday!!!).

    I love your love for your kids. Your daily reminders to be present and to enjoy the everyday things, or not get caught up on the (frustrating) every day things. I love that you can admit that starting small is how you'll slowly but surely make your way. And so on. I appreciate coming here and resting in the knowledge that there is another mommy out there who, by God's love and grace, is making her way and doing her very best to be the very best mommy she can be.

    If we were real life friends, and if I lived near you, I'd give you a big hug!

    Your bathroom is beautiful! Simple, elegant... I love it! I'd always wanted the Anthro expensive version of this curtain you've found, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the $118 or whatever it is on it, even though I loved it. ANYWAY!

  46. It's perfect! I have a similar mission. I bought an aqua bowl at a yard sale and decided to use it as a toothbrush holder. And buy decor around it. So far, just the bowl is on the counter!

    Just out of curiosity, how {small} is your home? I'm working w/ 5 people in under 1100sq ft. We're figuring it out though.
