We drove into Chicago yesterday and visited the Willis Tower (aka the tower formerly known as Sears).
[The boys in the glass box ledge that makes you feel like you are WALKING OFF THE TALLEST BUILDING IN THE WORLD.]
Is it the tallest building in the world? I think it used to be. You'd think I'd know this after I just went there.
Ivy's not dumb. She got down on her bum and scooted when she saw that city through the glass one-hundred-and-three stories below. I had to throw my lens cap out there to get her onto the ledge so the photographer could take a picture. She didn't go for that.
[I'm working on the pigtail thing. I feel broken as a Mom to a daughter. It's still sinking in. For real? I get to do this? Now what?]
(P.S. I love every second of it.)
(P.P.S. Omygosh isn't she the cutest thing ever??)
[My boys.]
On the way home Carter asks, "Why do I smell pumpkins?!"
In the sweetest, tiniest voice Gray sings, "I tooted."
Thanks, Kim for inviting us to the #skydecktweet meet-up!

First, I love the pig tails! Seriously, I've been making threats to G that he's going to need to learn these things.
ReplyDeleteAnd that last bit about had me bent over laughing. I love the things kids say!
That ledge looks very scary! I don't know if even I could walk out on it!
ReplyDeleteAnd, little girls in pig tails!! There is nothing cuter or sweeter!
fun pictures. your kids are adorable. that ledge does look scary...my palms were sweating just looking at the pictures. and the pumpkin/tooting part...hilarious! merry christmas!
ReplyDeleteShe is so adorable and smart! I wouldn't have gone on the ledge either. lol
ReplyDeleteThey are so adorable *sigh*. My knees go weak whenever we visit the CN tower glass floor, but Gemma? She jumps up and down on it which makes me feel faint. BTW -those pigtails should be illegal they are so cute.
ReplyDeleteBTW - pumpkin toots made me giggle.
OMG love this. First of all, my heart practically fell out just looking at the photo of the boys on the glass ledge thingy.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ivy's piggies. Precious.
Wow. I haven't been to the Sears Tower in, uhm, decades. Yes, with an "s" ack!
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkin story. LOL!!
That is so funny! And, wow, those pics are amazing. I'm with Ivy though-- you'd pretty much have to throw a fat wad of cash out there to get me to go! :)
ReplyDeleteOh how utterly frightening! I don't know if I'd be that brave.
ReplyDeleteAnd why'd they change the name of the Sears tower?
:--)
ahahahahahaha love this post!
ReplyDeletei can't wait to take evan to chicago, he will love it!
Would you stop already with those cute kids of yours!!! I am so glad I have my own else I would think yours were quite the cutest...
ReplyDeleteOMG...my stomach fell when I saw that ledge. I don't know if I could even walk out there. You are making such wonderful memories with your kids. These are amazing pictures. I really love the one of Noah and Carter in midair. I am so proud of them for being so brave.
ReplyDeleteWhen I realized where those pictures were, I started to hyperventilate a little. Open heights make me soooo nervous.
ReplyDeleteAnd your pigtails (or Ivy's as it were) are aweseome. Emma is 4.5 and I still haven't mastered a good ponytail. It's hard!
And oh my goodness, Gray! That's HILARIOUS!
The picture of your babies on the glass is making me stomach drop.
ReplyDeletePumpkins, eh? He really IS sweet. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been to the SEARS tower twice, but not when they had the glass box of doom.
What a great family outing! I would be out there with the boys living it up on that glass floor as would my daughter. Hubby and son? Likely puking up lunch just at the thought. :)
ReplyDeletePumpkin toots huh? That is pretty darn adorable!
Pigtails - love them!! Have you discovered the No Slippy Hair Clippy yet?
Looking at those boys standing on that see-through ledge makes me queasy! I can understand why Miss Ivy didn't want to go out there!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pigtails. I hope I can do that someday (but I hear you on the girl stuff, it's taking some getting used to!!)
Those pigtails are so stinkin cute! Adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd the ledge totally is making my heart beat really hard. Totally freaking me out.
so much fun.
ReplyDeleteand pumpkins?! oh, gray. you're great.
So cute about your kiddos! Love all these sweet musings..just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh those pigtails are just too darn cute! As is the little girl wearing them. :) Just wait until she's older and refusing to let you even touch her hair... I used to despair of ever having the time in the mornings to do the hair for 3 little girls - and now I only have one who will even let me. For now, anyway. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteMy stomach is lurching in my throat as I see the boys on the see thru deck. Ivy knows what's up and isn't going to be fooled!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time!
I am still grappling with being a Mom to a girl too. I am a little bit of a failure when it comes to bows, etc. But when her hair is long enough, I can certainly do pigtails. Great memories for the kids and I am with Ivy, no way would I go out there!
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE!!!! What a little princess Ivy is and your boys are so sweet looking I just want to hug them all! Love the toot story! lol
ReplyDeleteArabella is proud... every time she does it she announces loudly "I farrred" lol
They're so cute, and SO brave. I don't think I would be able to walk out on that ledge. Looks like a fun day!
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh my heart lurches to see those babies up there!! But I'm scared of heights! Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun adventure. And yes, as a mom of two boys that IS what little boys are made of.
ReplyDeleteI'm craving making ponytails now!
How I miss itsy bitsy pig tails!
ReplyDeleteand you boys, on the ledge?! Seriously, the picture itself is making me dizzy! Can you tell I'm not a fan of heights!
Still waiting to be able to do pigtails with Paige... grr... I know she'll have hair one day! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the conversation on the ride home! That place look so cool, though I'm not sure I'd be able to step on the clear floor...
Super cool photos. Now I want to go there just so I can get pictures on that ledge. ;)

I think Ivy's pig tails are awesome. Big Sister wears pig tails that only include the top half of her hair and stick up out of the top of her head. And I think she is cute - but I cannot wait till she has hair long enough to pull the entire thing up.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for that tower I do not think I could have let my kids walk on that. It looks terrifying. Luckily, Big Brother would never go out there.
I loved your photos! Sadly, we still haven't made it in to check out the skydeck. Looks like you had fun though!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I love the pigtails!!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to go on the ledge when I was there for Blogher, but I had a bit of an *ahem* adventure attempting, but failing at finding the Sears Building.
That would make me queasy too! I say keep rockin the piggie tails...they look adorable.
ReplyDeleteLOL on the pumpkin toot!
Your boys are so brave! I could not handle the ledge or even the skydeck!
ReplyDeleteLove the pumplin toots!
ReplyDeleteI think I had a bit of vertigo when I saw the photo of your boys out on the glass! I don't know if I could step out there...I'm a big baby about heights like that!
And yes...she's got to be the cutest thing ever!
Oh neat!
ReplyDelete(And I think the Sears tower is the tallest buidling, while the CN Tower, is the tallest free standing structure, or tower, since it doesn't have habitable stories.... or something like that. Just some Canadian trivia for ya, haha.)
That would scare the bajeeshus out of me!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the pumpkin toots! That is so...well...cute!
Those photos are amazing! What a fun time for all of them. So cute that Ivy wasn't trusting the height.
ReplyDeleteI really want to go there, but every time I see pictures of the ledge it makes me nervous and I don't know if I would be able to walk on it.
ReplyDeleteSmart girl not to walk out there. That must be very confusing for a baby mind.
ReplyDeleteLove the tooting comment!
Oh how I love boys...
Ha! The pumpkin toots have me grinning. And, oh. my. is she definitely the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThose heights though...man, does that make me all dizzified.
Ha, boys are funny aren't they? I could totally picture my boys making the last comment :)
