December 21, 2009

it's beginning to look a lot.

Every morning I tell Gray You got bigger while you slept! And he beams and asks am I six yet? And I say no, you're still four.

getting ready for Christmas

I am completely finished with my Christmas shopping and wrapping, and even what will go in the stockings. [It helps to have a lighter Christmas = less things to buy & wrap. Oh, but even so, my family is going to have an awesome Christmas.]

I also finished the blanket I was knitting for Beth's sister Sarah (who should be having her baby today!** He's here!! )

knit baby blanket

Ivy was sick all weekend long and the only thing that made her feel better was to be held. Even while she slept. [Especially while she slept.] Brother Noah was happy to help out. He rocked her to sleep a couple times.

noah rocks ivy to sleep.

Sometimes I ask Carter how did you get to be so cute? and he EATS IT UP and says I don't know, I just am!
Or other times he tries to think up ways he is so cute and then that's just even cuter.
The kids are home for two weeks on Christmas break and I'm so happy. I love having them here with me. Today we're planning on a trip up to the city. It's been snowing here, too! I hope I can get some good photos.

And I hope you're having a wonderful holiday.

Carter looks like he is such a little honey. SO sweet.

And that blanket? So cute. (it's still on my "to do" list to learn how to knit.) Maybe 2010 will be my year...

Ok, that's Noah holding Ivy - he too is a sweetheart. I'm sure all your boys are awesome w/ Ivy :)

Oh my word, my heart! That picture of Ivy and Noah is adorable. Yet another way to foster such a special relationship between your little (and not so little!) ones. What a blessing. (And so nice to remember those moments when squabbles arise).

It's really refreshing to hear a mother say she looks forward to having her kids home instead of dreading it. Noah with Ivy--SO sweet!

Libbie wanted to be held all weekend too--she's not been well. Wish she had an older sibling to do the job!

Her sweet curl on the back is just too precious. You certainly have a super sweet family... they learned that from you.

Merry Christmas, Steph. Enjoy every second of it.

LOVE that he rocks his baby sister to sleep! At 2.5, Suzi is a little young to be doing that yet, but I bet for the next baby or two she might be able to. It's funny, she keeps saying "her baby" is so little, and she hasn't noticed that (at 4 months now) the baby is rapidly catching up with her. (Suzi is a tiny little thing.)

My daughter, Annie, is 3 and she is also obsessed with being "five and six". I think it's because one of her older friends told her she can't go to school until she's five or six. So now, every day, like your wee man, it's "Am I five yet? Am I six yet?" and I say, "No, dear. You have to finish being three and then be four for a whole year before you're five." Kids are hilarious.

Love your blanket. Pattern???

Noah rocking Ivy to sleep has got to be the cutest thing EVER! When I ask Jonny who made him so cute, he says "God". Of course, he's 2 and I trained him to say that. Hahaha!!

Sometimes lighter Christmases are the most awesome of all, I think. Because the awesomeness is not about the stuff, not at all.
