the happy in just a regular old day

This morning I finished our Christmas cards, and writing with a colorful fine-tip Sharpie makes my handwriting so flowy and me very happy.

happy

Laundry doesn't necessarily make me happy, but having Ivy as my little helper does. She always always puts pants around her shoulders and her brother's underwear on her head and around her arms. She finds the leg holes of the underwear and thinks it's a bracelet or something. Where did she get this?

It makes me so happy.

Later in the day we rest in bed and I nurse her to sleep. It's that warm, gentle shut of her eye lashes, damp curls at the nape of her neck, soft hand clutching my finger, my hair, my shirt. I give her my everything and she takes it and is safe.

I marvel at her beauty, at her personality even when she sleeps.

This is one of the happiest moments I live daily.

It is too dark now to get a good picture of all my boys and girl. Also, they won't stay still for even for a moment,

but I catch their feet.
Two, four, six, eight.

Happy, happy, happy, happy.

The end.

Lovely. Nursing in the quiet stillness is one of my favorite parts of the day too. Anna has such short hair, but it's longer at the back by her neck. So blond and wispy, I love to just run it through my fingers while she nurses. Puts joy in my heart. :)

This whole post is lovely, but what a sweet nursing picture. I love toddler nursing. No worries about food intake, just pure, sweet nursing.

Oh so happy. So very, very happy. I'm feeling your emotion so deeply. And the photo of Ivy nursing puts a deep aching in my heart for one more child so I can actually experience that bond for a long time.

Regarding your comment on my blog:

Serious?!!!! You are so deprived if you've never had a S'more! Its a roasted marshmellow (over a fire, of course) then you put it between two graham crackers and some chocolate, preferably a peanut butter cup. Oooohy Goooohy Deliousness! If those are even words! Please go make yourself one, right now! You don't know what you're missing!

Jen said...

I was so hoping you were joking! S'more are so much better with Reese's Peanut Butter cups, by the way!!!!

thanks for finding the happy in the small things. We all need to be reminded of simple blessings.

And the Sharpies - one of the happiest things I own. I actually hide them so nobody else can find em...

I think my favorite moments of my day are the quiet times when I am nursing Ms. Dimples. I try to memorize each time.

This is just a gorgeous set of pictures. I am especially fond of the nursing Ivy picture. Those really are special daily moments, aren't they? I like to think of them as God's way of making me stop everything and simply relish what it is he has given to me.
