Girl, Uninterrupted.

girl

There's so many voices, little ones heard around me, written on paper, and on the internet. Sitting across from the table, at my knee, by my side, through my phone.

I want to be a good listener, I want to know peace in the stillness, and am reminded of how much I love my uninterrupted moments.

I'm trying to be mindful and put thought before I interrupt someone else's moment. Their story, quiet-ness, feelings-sharing, or nothing-time.

Even my kids'.

Especially my kids'.

Sometimes there's just too many words.

  2. Oh yes. I hear you. It takes so much for me to slow down, to quiet the voices. This weekend has been good for that. I think I should do it more often.

  3. First of all... that photo speaks volumes.
Second. I know what you mean - I find myself interrupting my kids all the time, for no good reason. Not cool.

  6. Sometimes all the voices drown out my own. Sometimes my own voice ringing in my head drowns out God's voice. Sometimes all the voices make me want to bang my head so I can hear no voices. So many voices.

  9. so beautiful - the picture and the words. I remind myself often that I can't expect my children to wait their turn and not interrupt if I consistently interrupt them.

  10. Yes.

Sometimes I just shut it all off, particularly the Internet, which is the biggest trick of all because this computer is deceptively silent but it's NOT. It's not.

    And ohhh, that picture!

  15. Steph that picture is gorgeous. What a wonderful moment to catch. I left my 19 month old yesterday while he was talking to his stuffed puppy...even refrained from snapping a pic (*gasp*) so he could have his moment. You are so right - we all need our time, our reflection, our private thoughts and conversations. Gorgeous Post!

  16. This photo took my breath away.

And what you wrote -- so, so very true. I catch myself doing that too often, and have to remind myself that more often than not, the best thing to say or do is nothing at all.
