Hubby set up a tent in the playroom so the kids could campout last night. I was going to let them stay up late (and hope that they sleep in late!) but Noah decided he wanted to go to bed early so he wasn't going to stay in the tent, but was too lonely to sleep by himself in his room. I need my brothers with me.
My heart smiled so big it squished any guilt I had about them having to share a room. They wouldn't have it any other way.
They all three ended up in their own beds and were up niiiiice and early.
It's fall break here and there's no school today. (Neighbor kids came over. Tents do not cause children to multiply.)

I think sharing a room is great for them, actually. I think we instinctually want to be together, especially at night. My kids end up in our room most nights, and it seems totally natural to me.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes feel bad for putting our little girl and baby boy in a room together, but in reality, that's what they're used to and kids do enjoy the close proximity. Your boys will have good memories of their time together, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI love that my boys share a room. And when Dash is old enough I'll move him in, too. Nicky is SO ready for that. He loves being surrounded by his brothers.

Okay, so some of my fondest memories are from my mom and dad putting up a tent or a fort and letting us eat and nap in it. This picture brings back awesome memories!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I shared a room with my sister and honestly, I have so many fun, loving memories because of that. Having a child of each sex now, I wish that they would share a room but alas, despite being attached at the hip during the day, there is no way either one would share a room. Because in my son's words, "that is just not right". :)

ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest thing I've heard all day (the room bit...). My kids share a room right now (well, when they chose to sleep in their beds and not ours..) but right now Fynn keeps saying it's only his room, LOL, no warm fuzzies here!

ReplyDeleteI have the space for my girls to have their own room, but they insist on being together at all times...they have to sleep in the same bed, or else they get lonely. I used to think it was odd, but it is just too sweet.
ReplyDeleteTents are so fun... especially indoors - we love ours!!! Everybody shares here - 2 bedroomed home and eight kids!!! Luckily the rooms are huge... my kids really can't sleep without each other... like major trauma... my kids consider isolation to be the ultimate punishment - I just couldn't do it to them!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd my 4-year-old asks me to put her baby brother in her room all the time. I don't think he's quite old enough yet, but I could see us heading that way, even though we have the room for them not to share.

so much fun. and i think sharing a room is great. all 3 of my girls share a room and i know they would be so lonely without each other.

Such a sweet pic! My boys sharing a room this past year has been a trial for sure (the baby's a light sleeper...), but I think that now we're past the first year and sleeping more at night, we'll stay together! :)

Oh that is so sweet!! Sharing a room can be so wonderful I think. I have read a few books that talk about how it makes siblings that much closer. And hey my grandparents had eight kids in a three bedroom house. Girls in one room (five girls) and boys in another (three boys).
ReplyDeleteMy boys share a room as well and have since they were 1 year and a newborn. They know no different and i am sure they would be miserable without each other as well.

ReplyDeleteIndoor campouts are a ton of fun. Our kids love them, same with backyard camping. My boys also share a room, we asked them if they wanted their own rooms & both said NO. It's very sweet.
ReplyDeleteNothing like putting up tents and camping in the living room. My kiddos love to put blankets over the dining room table to create a fort. I just love watching their imaginations at work.
ReplyDeleteAs far as sharing bedrooms, my two have their own rooms, but Dylan has a bunk bed and the top bunk is often occupied by little sis. She has to ask his permission and most nights brother is thrilled to share his room. I think it is great that the boys appreciate having each other nearby.
