me me me it's all for meeeeee.

I am about to conquer one of the largest mountains of dirty dishes I've ever let grow in my sink (and spread to my countertop and maybe even across my stove). It's been chilly here and so I baked homemade beer bread and cookies and some other recipes I found for lunch today and we, like, EAT MEALS and there are a lot of us and so now every bowl and pan has piled up.

The boys had to use the really big spoons for their cereal today. Which they ate in fancy salad bowls.

A couple weeks ago I finally snapped and guess what? NOW I am getting a dishwasher!

My friend Love (yes that is her name isn't it lovely?) was having a big sale to raise funds to bring home her two babies from Uganda. And Sarah saw the dishwasher and they all thought of me right away!

And the best part? Ok, one of the best parts... it matches my fridge!

Think of all the time I will have now.

When Frigidaire GAVE me the Gallery refrigerator to keep (in exchange for a few posts like this one), they encouraged me to think about all the Me-Time I'd now have. I thought about how much more time I'd have to do dishes! And laundry. And straightening and picking up all the things needing picked up constantly throughout the day. And sorry I have to go there but the bathrooms... four males live in the house. I won't say more.
But really, that is NOT stuff that I think should qualify as good things to fill up with my ME time.
I've picked up my knitting needles again. I am writing more than ever. I'm reading BOOKS! And watching movies with hubby. Hanging out with friends. Lying in the grass with my camera. Star gazing during my conversations with God.
Now that is what I call Me time. What would you do in your perfect "Me time"?

But, I still like to get my chores done before I play so I better get washing. We're out of spoons.

If anyone deserves a new dishwasher, it's you! :-)

  4. its funny how perspectives of "me time" can be so different.
I work 10-11 hours a day.. I see my 8 month old baby boy for exactly 1 hour a day! During that 1 hour he is nursing and falls asleep. I see him awake every day for maybe 15 minutes. My husband is a stay at home dad so I never feel bad that he is being raised by someone else. But I still miss him so much..
If I could choose any kind of "me time" it would be with my baby!

  5. ooo - gadgets on the dishwasher are so fun to figure out! my apartment-standard dishwasher never gets my cups clean enough for my taste unless I put them on the bottom rack and use the hot pre-wash option. But - it's worth it to not have to re-wash every cup.

Are there enough hypens in this comment? I'm not sure...

  7. Oh girl, honestly, you don't know how excited I am for you that you are getting a dishwasher. It will change your life. My "me" time usually involves scrapbooking or shopping. But these days, it's mostly napping. ;)

  8. I love driving to the beach for the day. Either with alone or with the husband or with the whole family, it's just so nice to get away without the worry of packing and arranging and reserving. Of course, living in NC, I have the luxury of being on the beach 2 hours after I leave the house.

  9. I like those star-gazing God-conversations.

And writing Sharpie words on very white paper.

Cupcake afternoons with babies sleeping in cuddly quilt wraps.

    Books.
    Big Books.

And taking the time to read the inspired words of a never met friend:)

  11. Use "paper" plates and plastic ware, eat outside and tell them they are camping.

  12. Last night was pretty much my perfect me time--wine and friends! Also, a hot bath and a book, which I'm about to do now that both boys are napping (cross your fingers that it stays that way).

  13. When I get Me Time, like I did last week, I love to do the not-so-fun chores with no interruption. Then I love to break for movies and books and time with friends.

So yeah, last week was perfect Me Time!

  14. I am so happy for you. I think my favorite me time is watching a good movie at the theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn. Now, I need to come across a deal like that so I can replace my broken dishwasher. I have lots of extra spoons if you need some.

  15. I am so glad that you are getting a dishwasher! I have spent much time without one myself. It is never pretty. We bought one last year, worth every penny. Although I still find a reason to let the dishes pile up on the counter...

  19. I have been carving out time to read, listen to music, write, and just take in the quiet moments. I found that if I don't I am not able to be the mother I want and can be.

  20. Me time is dance time. Bellydance. I love it so much.

Other than that, I sew (though usually for my little) and occasionally get to lose myself in a good book.

  21. Oh gosh! Books, music, baths, walks in the woods...

I could come up with a list a mile long.

  22. Writing while sipping a chai sounds like wonderful me time. Thankfully, I have a dishwasher and am about to indulge. :)
But I, too, dot chores first or they never would get done!

  23. I love that you are finally taking some much needed "me" time. Good for you.

  24. Yay for your dishwasher!!! We didn't have one for years... now I don't know what I'd do without it (well... other than lots and lots of dishes...)

Me time? What's that? ;) A quiet walk on the beach, or curling up under a comfy blanket with a "can't put down" book. Both those things sound heavenly.

  25. Oh word, child, you don't have a dishwasher with all those children? Thank goodness now you have one.

And I love the idea of stargazing while talking to God. Love it!

  26. I'm a dishwasher holdout myself, but if I had more "me" time I'd totally spend it reading.

Unfortunately a dishwasher wouldn't increase my time at the moment... I have contemplated getting a little one for sterilizing my canning supplies though. I'm lobbying for a larger freezer, myself.

  27. coffee w/ friends, etsy screen shopping, pedicures, people watching, sleeping, hanging out with God.

hope your time for you...doing whatever...really is increased!! (it WILL be!) =)

  28. Lately I have gotten a pretty good amount of me time; but I would enjoy shopping for MY clothes without the kids! My toddler is in the stage of telling me things look terrible or wonderful, and usually he says terrible. AND when he is ready to go, everything is just terrible. :)

AND if you ever hear of a washer/dryer giveaway you have to give us a heads up because I REALLY need a new dryer... :)

  30. For me I had to have six kids before my mother in law stepped in and said "You have to get a dishwasher NOW"... never one to disobey (!!!) we finally got one. I miss the reverie of staring out the window for hours while mindlessly washing dishes... I don't have the excuse anymore... more time to dash about isn't always best!!! But I do use it twice a day and never looked back. It doesn't really take less time to rinse, stack, unload and so on - I am sure... but the machine is doing the work... Here is my take on the dishwasher:

  33. I've been reading more lately too. Just finished "Too Small To Ignore" (It's an excellent book).

To be honest, I like to hang out with my girls...A LOT. So, in this "season," I don't feel like I need a lot of alone time. But I do go out for a 20-minute run by myself three times a week. And I enjoy that...sort-of. I like how I feel afterward anyway. ;)
