  1. I had an uncle who was ridiculously good at those things. Congrats to the little one who now has a cookie monster to love. :)

  5. But can he repeat the trick? Anyone can get lucky once.

(I say this to placate my wounded ego in the face of all my own lost quarters.)

  8. Ugh!! I spent YEARS trying to convince my kids what a waste of money those things were, and all it took was one kid to win ONE TIME for all that hard work to go down the drain! :)

  9. I say the exact same thing! Maybe we just have to believe in the positive sometimes. Too funny.

  10. My husband has won at least three things for our kids with the same machine! They get bummed now and don't understand when he doesn't get one then! :)

  11. I say the same thing, but it's usually because I don't want one more doll/trinket/dust collector to come home with me. My husband is always the sucker though and has to go "try".

  16. Those crane machines are programmed like slot machines. They may look random but it's done by some algorithm that basically says "X many loose grabs and then on the 52nd try become firm and grab for real."

It won't always be the same amount of tries which is why it looks random or like it takes skill.
