We awoke with no plans, other than possibly not getting out of bed at all. Somehow I gained two extra children in the night (not counting Ivy.)
Some had morning baths while I put away laundry. We all ate something different for breakfast and I headed out to the farmer's market with the baby. We picked colored tomatoes and peppers for salsa, and a little box of kiwis. We bought fresh pita bread and hummus. And said hello to a friend. Or two.
Daddy had done all the dishes and was cutting up a watermelon just as we got home. We were invited to an impromptu pizza party with cousins. So we packed the melon and piled in the car. Afterward we called up my grandparents and stopped by for a visit. The boys caught an inch worm in the backyard. (He has now inched out of his jar and is possibly somewhere in my kitchen.)
On the way home we played our own made-up game of Hoop! - we'd try to be the first to spot a basketball hoop. There are a lot of basketball hoops in Northwest Indiana.
At dinner (leftovers from the grill last night) and brownies baking in the oven, Noah smiled and wished out loud I don't want this day to ever end. I don't want this day to ever end.
I have no pictures from today, but I'll see it in their eyes forever.

Love it! You've captured the true essence of summer, or at least what I aspire for it to be ;)
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteThose are the very best days: The ones we don't have captured anywhere except in our hearts.
ReplyDeletePerfect.
ReplyDeleteI love days like that!
ReplyDeleteToni
Sounds like a truly fabulous day!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's the simple things, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBetween you and me (and your thousands of readers), I almost think the diamond days that surprise us with their beauty are better than the most anticipated holiday (such as *cough* Christmas *cough*), partly because they shine without all the work.
They are organic, not manufactured.
I love days like this!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I love Saturdays...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous day you had! Perfection.
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I love those simple, happy days that, when they are finally over, I wish I could relive a thousand times more. What a joy.
ReplyDeleteAnd...I must say that I love the farmer's market! We went today, too, and I just don't know what I'd do without it. There were PILES of cherries. Oh my.
It sounds like the perfect day. No picture necessary :).
ReplyDeleteDays like those embed themselves into children's memories. They never leave.....
Wow, that is a banner day. The best kind and I love that I saw a glimpse of it in person. Makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing you today. And Ivy, too. (Brian and I miss her, k?)
Oh, I just love those days. Mine was one of those "Banner" Days too. And, like Noah, I didn't want it to end!!
ReplyDeleteDays like that are the best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect day. Those are the kinds of days you'll remember for years to come and you won't need pictures to remember it.
ReplyDeleteThose are the very best days in my opinion. : )

ReplyDeleteI think you just made my day!
ReplyDeleteYou know that song with the lyrics... "Those are the days, my friends/I hope they never/We'd sing and laugh forever and a day..."
ReplyDeleteNoah GOT it! And he will never, ever forget it, either. Perfection!
Steph: This post brought tears to this 'ole Aunt's eyes! Noah's comment . . . priceless!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Aunt Diane
That is just so lovely. I miss having tomatoes and peppers from the garden so early. You midwesterners are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fantastic day :)
Days like the day you had are fleeting and far between , but those are the days you never forget.
ReplyDeleteLove day like this!! They always seem to happen when you least expect it. Glad you had a good one:)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds perfect - it's always those days that start out with no plans. I love those...
ReplyDeleteUnplanned weekends are the best - we had two days of bliss just like you described.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a heavenly day and I'm glad you lived it to its fullest. What a cute wish to have the day never end. I've had a few of those days and you are right, no pictures needed! I hope you have many more of these lazy days of summer.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day!
ReplyDeleteSometimes those "full" days of living are the very best.
ReplyDeleteI love how you wrote "I don't want this day to ever end"...twice...just like a child wold say it. Like a wish.
