We found our way back and also found the shoes (Aldo, you never let me down!) and I hope I don't regret this but for the first time ever I am taking only this ONE PAIR on my trip. I've packed 3 pairs for Ivy.
I thought you might want to see them and- OH!- the snow that just happens to be falling Right Now.

On Tuesday morning I get to meet all sorts of neat people at the Hallmark Headquarters in Kansas City and they are curious about what you think about stuff, too. I am going to refer to the comments here and will post about it when I get back.
I'll link you and blog the answers- and I hear that I'll have some goodies to share and giveaway, too.
Do you have any card stories to share or questions you'd like me to ask the Hallmark folks? Can be totally normal or crazy off-the wall. I'll ask it!

Oh gosh Adam and I ended up in Michigan on accident once. We were on the toll road, missed our exit, and the next exit wasn't for another 30 miles or something insane like that, and by the time we COULD exit we were forced into Michigan!! We made the best of it and happened upon a roadside flea market. It was actually a fun accidental trip.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Have a great time on your trip! : )
ReplyDeleteAdorable shoes--and yeah, how about this snow? Chicago/NWI has some crazy weather.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was in Michigan was about four years ago--eep! My mom and I took a trip to Amish country and I wanted to visit 3 states that day--IL, IN and MI. So we drove over the border and came right back. But that was on purpose of course :)
Love the shoes. And I love that you packed more shoes for Ivy then for yourself. That is something I would totally do!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip!
LOVE Aldo!!
ReplyDeleteI have a question for Hallmark ... do they use much recycled materials? What about recycling cards?
ReplyDeleteVery cute shoes! Have a most wonderful time!
I'm a bit of a card-a-holic. Hallmark should love me. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered how they find writers. It's a very specific type of writing, you know?
Oh! And how much do writer and artists collaborate, if at all?
Have fun!
I have never even been to Michigan. :) Love the shoes though. A few things for hallmark - why can we only find Bar/Bat Mitzvah cards around communion/confirmation time? Bar/Bat Mitzvah's happen year round? Also, how about having some more Godparent options? And lastly, I would love to see a few decent options for cards for birthmoms (for mother's day, birthdays, etc) and for adopting moms (for showers and congratulations - ya know so the card doesn't have a pregnancy joke or lady with a big belly on the front). Okay that all makes me sound like i hate cards but really I love cards - sending and getting them - so I want more options. :)
ReplyDeleteI want to know where the cute hallmark commercials went.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the one where a little boy named Max stays inside and plays with a boy at recess I think. His teacher puts a card in his bookbag. If memory serves me, the card read something like "You didn't have to do what you did, and that is what makes it so very special." Anywho, Max's mom finds the card, and asks him about it. Max tells her why he got it and she hugs him really tight. You hear his muffled voice say "Mom?" - "Yes Max" - "You're squishing me."
It's so cute. Makes my in-laws cry.
We would love to see military related cards in our BX. Congrats on your promotion (and rank), welcome home from your deployment, etc. The shoes are adorable! Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a blast at the Hallmark event. I LOVE your shoes - I might have to check those out at Aldo! Great color.
ReplyDeleteI like Hallmark, but I always have the worst time picking out cards. I have heard you can order cards and have them mailed out from their website, I would like to find out more about that. Sometimes I hate dragging myself to the store and searching for the perfect one!
I live in Michigan! Not a bad place really. :)
ReplyDeleteFor Hallmark -
1. Why don't they sell Hoops & Yoyo cards that are NOT musical cards? I love Hoops & Yoyo but I don't have the $5-10 to spend on a musical card all the time.
2. I would love an option on their website to save money if you order in 'bulk". Like buy 3 get one free, or free shipping after 5 cards. Something like that. I LOVE to send cards but it's so expensive right now! I end up in the $0.99 section and those are never as fun.
3. Why did they change their ecards and make some of them cost money? I just can't justify $1.99 on an electronic card.
I think that's it! I love Hallmark and all their cards, thanks for passing on our questions!
I live in Michigan, too - great place to live, but the winters stink.
ReplyDeleteCute shoes and enjoy your trip :)
I like the idea of the military based cards, too.
ReplyDeleteCute shoes, have a great time!
Have fun with Hallmark. Sorry we don't have better weather here for your visit!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe the snow....I still can't believe it. My son has spring break this week and now "go out and play" just isn't as much of an option so I have to figure out what to do with him now.
ReplyDeleteI have a question for Hallmark but am not sure how to word it so it isn't obnoxious...."Why are cards so expensive?" I know I can get a .99 one that is plain or ugly or doesn't quite say what I want but I honestly have stopped buying cards because of the cost. I won't buy a card just to buy one if it isn't perfect and $5 for a perfect one cannot be justified in our budget.
Maybe a better question is "Has Hallmark been affected by the state of the economy and have they made any changes because of it?"
Ooooh, I love aldo shoes (that's where the red shoes I wear all the time are from)! They are one of the few places my size 11 feet can find shoes consistently at.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm from Kansas City originally, born and raised. Hallmark is pretty awesome.
Haha that is funny! Great-looking shoes - they look comphy, too! You are very brave to only take one pair. I always take at least two. I love Aldo shoes. I have great shoes from there, and an amazingly funky canvas bag. Enjoy your trip!!!
ReplyDeleteDid Hallmark *really* invent Valentines Day to fill in the gap between Christmas and Easter?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I've always heard.....
Aside from that, have a great time!
Although I'm intrigued by how you ended up in Michigan, I really want to hear about your first Sephora visit! Did you buy anything? Did Arianne? I need details! Sephora is like my mecca.
ReplyDeleteGreat shoes!
ReplyDeleteI went to Michigan twice... once to interview for grad school and once to drive our church youth group to their summer mission trip. The fastest way to get to Detroit from Buffalo is to drive through Canada. Totally weird, but true.
Have a great trip! Love the shoes :)
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes!
ReplyDeleteI think the question about the military cards is a great one. I think they also need a selection of cards for same sex relationships.
Have fun on your trip!
Enjoy Kansas City! The forecast is calling for pretty nice weather, especially on Wednesday. It sure beats the crazy snow in April that we just got here!
ReplyDeleteCute post, cute shoes! KC is fun.
ReplyDeletePlease ask the Hallmark people, if they will create cards for us people who travel, for work and leave our families behind! I can never find one and end up buying blank cards every time. My kids earn double allowance, when I am out of town and they do their chores and whatever else they are asked and are basicly well-behaved! Just a thought!
Only YOU Steph would end up in another state on a journey to buy the perfect shoes. At first, I thought you bought the snake skin 10 inch heels on the picture and was thinking, how in the world you would walk around with Ivy in those heels!! Then I saw the ones you got (love them). You can click the heels in a little bit saying you're not in Indiana anymore! Tell Hallmark I said hi and I love their products...Can't think of a question right now. Be Safe!!! Don't get lost.
ReplyDeleteHmm, you are going to be in my neck of the woods. I live in the suburbs of Kansas City. Eat some BBQ while you are here!
ReplyDeleteMichigan (at least where we were) has some stories to tell, me thinks. And some creepy, otherworldly ones at that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun, the food and the lip gloss gushing. Have a great trip!
I'm loving the shoes! Hope your trip is a blast! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove love love the shoes. I want some.
ReplyDeleteOh ... LOVE those shoes! Hope you and Ivy have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to echo some others and say, "Do the cards really need to be so pricey?" I don't even go in to Hallmark for the most part anymore, although I used to buy there all the time. I just can't justify spending $4-5 on a card that will probably be thrown away. I think they are awesome cards, but come on, that's a little ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Too funny. Sounds like something my girls would do. I love the shoes. Very cute. Have a great trip and tell us all about it when you get back.
ReplyDeleteCute shoes!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a song from Juno...
ReplyDeleteVery cute shoes! Hope you have a good trip.
You are only taking one pair of shoes? I don't think I could do that... I'd have to have at least 2 pairs :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trip!
One of my favorite memories as a "tween"...going to the Hallmark store with my grandma! We would be on either side of the card racks and would hear each other laugh, then we'd hand the card over to the other person to laugh too! :) I can still hear her chuckle! Enjoy your time!
ReplyDeleteQuestion for Hallmark: Do they ever plan to host a "contest" and allow people to submit photos they think are worthy of appearing on a Hallmark card?
ReplyDeleteI have a crazy card story. It's kind of a family thing. My mom, my aunt, and myself can spend hours reading all the funny cards in the hallmark store. Like until tears are streaming down our faces and people are wondering if they should call security. We have a very off the wall sense of humor, so all those cards with the old-timey pictures and ridiculous sayings just crack us up.
ReplyDeleteHow comfy are your shoes? Did your feet survive the weekend? I need some new shoes, but they've got to be comfy :)
ReplyDeleteOh you're a brave girl to leave town with only one pair of new shoes! I'm always scared of blisters and tuck a pair of comfy flip flops into my luggage.
