The Ultimate Blog Party, Come On In

Hi, I'm Stephanie and welcome to my party. If we were meeting for the first time in real life, here are some things that you would soon find out about me.

As a little girl I dreamed of being a writer or a teacher or singer or an actress. I ended up going to college for all those things and didn't finish any of it. But I do use what skills that I did learn pretty much every day of my life as a Mom.

I have three boys but you'll most often find me blagging away about my new daughter Ivy LaRue. I try to explain why here.

But speaking of the boys, I can see chocolate on the wall from where I sit, or maybe it is blood, or...? We haven't had anything chocolate in a while and no one has bled recently, so...

Anyway.

I am still trying to figure out this being a Mom of four deal as well as deciphering just who I am as a regular human being despite the Mom persona, and, well, who I want to be. All the while wearing my baby along the way. Or is she wearing me? Whatever. At least we're in style.

Are you going to BlogHer? I will be attending, (wearing cute shoes and Ivy, of course- probably in a ring sling or a mei tai in case you were wondering) thanks to my full sponsorship by Tiny Prints.

Addicted to Twitter like everyone else? I'm there, too.

So, what would you tell me about yourself if we just met?

Oh, and so nice to meet you. I hope that we can be friends.

Tomorrow I'm admitting something personal that I could use your help on, too.

If you would like to be a part of the super awesome Babywearing Bloggers blogroll, check that out here.

  1. If we were to meet, I would tell you that your blog inspired me to wear my baby. Seeing how beautiful your baby looked in a sling, I wanted that, and now I do.

I would also talk about my 6 year old, and how much she is a mommy's girl, and I love that about her.

I would tell you that I cloth diaper, and it is the best decision I have made, next to breastfeeding.

Oh you also inspired me to cloth diaper too. I sound like a stalker, I know. But I love your blog, and not many people have inspired me, but you have.

  2. Hi, it's so nice to meet you! I'm a babywearing mama too, although I know not a thing about boys ;) I'm going to stay a little while and get to know you and your lovely family a little better.

  5. Hello,I'm Cierra! I am a new Mama to my 8 month old son,Tytus. I love being a Mama,it's what I've always wanted to do. I am in love with pregnancy and birth,it is now my passion next to attachment parenting of my son.
Your blog is wonderful,I enjoy reading it! Hope to get to know you better!

  6. Well, I might tell you that I'm a WAHM, home school mom who wants to be just like you when I grow up...hehe

Your blog is amazing and inspiring. Love 5 Minutes for parents. Also, I had a hard time baby wearing but when I found a sling I liked, well my baby was attached and hard time breastfeeding, almost gave up and she continued nursing until 27 months.

Well now, off to mingle with the other guests. xoxo

  7. It's great to meet you! I've been getting your feed for a while now, but I don't think I've commented before. I LOVED wearing my last baby and will definitely do it again!

  8. STEEEEEEPH! Yes, expect a greeting something like that. I am incredibly loud so it is impossible to meet me. Ivy would probably smile so big with those two little toofers I wouldn't be able to help myself. (apparently when I talk to children I sound like sponge bob)

I am usually incredibly random and will spout off whatever pops into my head first. This trait gives the ability to do seventeen things at once but in everyday conversation can cause some confusion. I can be pretty timid at first but once I feel comfortable...get ready :)

  9. My name is Alyson and I've been reading you now for a few years!! how crazy!
I was very jealous when you became pregos with Ivy....but now I am joining you on the mother of 4 adventure, and my goal is to take as nice of prego pics as you did ;)

That's it. oh...and I love how even though you have a zillion readers you always reply.

    you rock steph.

    ReplyDelete
  10. hey, steph. good to see you parting with your little ivy-girl. she's so precious! wear her well.

  11. Nice to meet you - your baby is cute!

  12. If I have the honor of meeting you at blogher, I'll probably ramble. Just a warning. Love your party post :)

  13. Well, I'd probably say that I didn't know anything about babywearing until I discovered the blogosphere and started wearing my first baby when she was about 3 months old - loved it and will wear the little guy who is due on June!

I'm an outgoing, WAHM who loves the outdoors, loves reading, loves blogging, loves sewing, loves scrapbooking, loves cooking, and just usually enjoys life in general. However I hate housework... but because I love my husband and want our home to be a peaceful place to come I try to get that done too :)

I'll be joining the party next week. I've had a really sick little one this week so we're behind on everything.

  14. I am so excited to be participating the the Ultimate Blog Party. I read your blog daily anyways as well as 5 minutes for parenting. You have inspired me to try wearing my baby this time around. I am also trying a birthing center for an all natural birth instead of a hospital birth. You are a great inspiration.

If i were introducing myself i would say, i am a mom of 2 boys ages 4 and 3. I am currently pregnant with baby #3 and praying that it is a girl. I have been married almost 5 years to a wonderful man.

I really enjoy blogging about my life and my kids. I hope you have a chance to stop by and check me out!

  15. This is quite the party. Yet another bloggy buddy is partying. I suppose I should party too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hello Steph! If we were to meet in person, I'd say that much like you, I'm still trying to figure out my overall role :) I'd also tell you how adorable your and your family are and how much I enjoy following your blog now that I found you.

I'd probably tell you a little about myself, though I tend to be a bit socially awkward :) I'm a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. I would probably talk non-stop about my two year old daughter and the grief she is already giving me with her sassy-ness (it's great stuff for my blog too).

I would love to meet you at BlogHer if I make it there....I either need to dig up enough money to go or find a fun sponsor too.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love Ivy's pettiskirt- she looks like a perfect spring blossom!

I hope to meet you at BlogHer this year.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm in the Chicago area too. I have twin 9 month olds, so I'm a tad jealous I can't baby wear as much as I did with my 3 singletons.

Hope you'll come check out my blog sometime, when time allows. I have a couple baby item giveaways going on. Thanks for having me.

Stephanie of And twins make 5!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would introduce myself as wife to Aaron, daughter of loving parents, sister to a hero Airman and a sassy diva, mother to only a dog at this time, photo-taking, flip-flop wearing, blog stalking, non-stop talking, computer knowing, loving shopping, book reading, cookie baking, baby wanting, family adoring, music loving, karaoke singing, theatre acting, digital scrapbooking, college reminiscing, good deal finding, lots of laughing, life loving child of the King. Nice to meet you. :)

And I can’t wait to meet Ivy at Blogher, and officially meet you, again.

    Natalie

  20. Nice to meet you. You have a beautiful little one. I was a baby wearer too. My littlest one wants nothing to do with it though. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  21. You're so cute! Have a good day!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi there! I'm not new to your blog but I wanted to stop by the party. If I met you in person I would ask for a tutorial on how to wear my 5 week old AND nurse. Is that even possible? :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Steph, I've been following you for a while so I'm going to own up to being a lurker!
Hmmmm, about me. Well, I'm newly a SAHM after being laid off - kind of a mixed blessing and definitely a new adventure in budgeting!
I too went to college to be a writer and a teacher. I finished the English degree part, not the teacher part, and ended up working in real estate.
Now that I'm no longer working, I'm exploring the writing again.
So, that's a bit of me - nice to meet you!

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's so nice to meet a fellow baby wearer! I've got my twins wrapped up in sleepy wraps (taking turns, of course) whenever we're out and about. It's wonderful! I love your blog! Check out my party if you get a chance!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi! I just stopped by from Tiaras and so glad I did!

If we were to meet, I would say it sounds like we're a lot alike. My children are my heart but I still strive every day to be the fabulous individual that I am - LOL - even if I'm still in my sweats at 1pm and buried under laundry. ;D I would tell you about my dumplins - 3 yro son, Ryder, and 18 month old twins, Lincoln & Ruby Jane. And I would tell you about all of my latest BIG ideas or crafty design projects I have planned. *Note the use of the word "planned."

I've enjoyed my time on your blog - it is fabulous and I'll be back!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, when I did actually meet you in person I was not yet a follower of your blog. If I were to bump into you again, I'd probably talk your ear off. After following your blog, I feel like I know you and would have tons of kid stories to talk about!

    ReplyDelete
  27. If we were to meet and sit around your kitchen table, I would tell you how much I adore your blog and what an inspiration you are to me, an aspiring mom who plans to babywear.
I would talk to you about photography and pick your brain about freelance writing. Since you are a writer, I am betting you love books so we would talk about what we are reading and who are favorites are.
I would talk to you about family, about my husband, about balancing kids and husband time, about balancing work and family and finding time for yourself.
You'd learn that I am five years old at heart and would love to wear Ivy's hot pink tutu.
You find out that I love antiques, crafting, and finding new uses for old things.
You'd know I am desperately scratching my way to finally receiving my BA degree in Publishing at the age of 27.
    Basically, I am a dreamer.
And then we would turn up the music real loud and dance around the kitchen with your kids until we dropped to the floor exhausted and laughing, if Ivy would let me borrow her tutu ;-)
You're awesome and I am so glad to have found your blog. Thank you for letting us all into your life.

  28. Hello! im a baby wearing mama too, and a random fact about me is that I am addicted to blueberries and strawberries and blackberries...well, all berries i guess. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wore the Tongginator constantly until she learned to walk. Then she rarely LET me wear her. Hee hee.

I'd tell you that I'm a child of God, a wife, a momma, a former teacher, an adoptive parent, a woman-who-hates-laundry and a coffee addict. And then I'd continue to ramble and babble. That's IF I had the honor of meeting you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's nice to meet you a little more!

If we were to meet, I'd say you just have to spend time with me to get to know me. I'm a little quiet in person at first and the more time I spend with people, the friendlier I become.

I'd also say that I have a huge soft spot, but that most of the time you can't take me seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't know if I've told you yet that I'm going to BlogHer and I'm SO excited! I really hope to meet you Steph, since you are one of my faves.

    Enjoy the party! : )

  33. I look forward to reading more of your blog. I'm about to have our second baby and plan to "wear" this kiddo quite a bit. I'm still looking for the perfect wrap or sling! Glad to meet you!

  35. nice to meet you, your baby is adorable i want a dress just like that do they make them in my size?
    have fun party hopping

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know that the blog party is designed to meet "new to you" bloggers, but how can I resist partying with my current blogging buds. You pretty much know a lot about me...my kids are 5 and 2 now, but I pretty much still wear them...just without the slings. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm partying too... this is my first ubp, and I'm really excited! I even plan on a special "UBP blog makeover" tomorrow if I can swing it. I'm getting tired of the old look.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi, Steph! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I love the look of your blog. I've only got one boy myself and most days that's plenty. ;-) I recently reviewed a wonderful new book about parenting boys called Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys.

That's cool about the full ride to BlogHer. You're the second person I've seen mention getting a full scholarship. I'd love to learn more about that for next year (or this year if it's not too late).

    Now, back to the party!

  41. One more thing...I just read what you wrote about not vaccinating and I'm almost in tears. My husband and I have taken this position and just this week we were dismissed from our ped. It's hard, but it's good to know that we are not alone and that God will provide!

    ReplyDelete

  46. Just wanted to drop in and say hello! I love your blog. If we were to meet, I'd probably be super shy at first and then you wouldn't be able to shut me up. I'm from the NWI region as well!

  53. I would probably be so distracted by your little ones that we would hardly get a word into each other. Well, that and my kids are rather loud when meeting new friends. After awhile though, we would finally get ready to chat only to both fall asleep from exhaustion before the "Hello, I am..." gets out. Love the look of your blog, love your theories...plan on lurking for a while!

  58. Hi Steph,

I'm a longtime reader of your blog, but I'm usually too shy to comment - it's nice to meet you!

If we were to meet I'd probably ask you for babywearing advice (brand new at it and not entirely sure I've got the hang of it!). I'm working on cloth diapering too (waiting for my daughter to grow into our diapers - they looked sooo small when we got them and then turned to out to be sooo huge on her - three weeks old and she's just made it to seven pounds!). We love our cloth wipes though.

I'd tell you that I really wanted a home birth for my daughter but I think I've made peace for the moment with the fact that a home birth wasn't for me and won't be in my future either (the surgeons totally refused to operate in my bedroom). It's nice to be able to have the home birth experience vicariously though others such as yourself.

Anyway, I really enjoy reading your blog! Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I stopped by your blog in part because of the Blog Party and in part because a friend of mine highly recommends your blog. I love the photo of you and your daughter. I have one boy and one girl and God was good to give me a girl so I could dress her up in pink and frills. It is so much fun to be girlie!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I enjoy your blog on a regular basis, and I love your party! :) I would probably tell you about myself that I miss being a mommy to a baby girl...my baby girl is 8 and growing so quickly! So it's nice to see all of Ivy's beautiful smiles and outfits!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I would say I wore my baby as well, but now am sad he is not so babyish anymore. OK, I know you can still put 1-year-olds in a sling but mine just wants to walk on his own now. :(

  66. Trying to figure out being a mom to 4? When we had our 4th, it was all I could do to survive day to day, there was no time for the brain power of trying to figure out being a mom of 4 LOL. I just counted the hours until my dh got home. But we survived and the kids are growing up, my youngest is 4. BTW I love your kids names!

  73. I'm here from the UBP. I couldn't resist your blog name. I don't wear my baby daily, but I do love my ring slings, and I was using a Mei Tai in the garden last week while planting potatoes and onions. :)

I was at the mall this weekend, and I was wearing my 6 month old in an unpadded ring sling. I walked past a couple with a baby and she said, "Look, honey. That's one of those things I was telling you about. LOok, that brown thing she's wearing."

I kept walking past her but was tempted to turn around and pose so he could get a look. I realized he was only seeing "that brown thing" from behind at that point. But I didn't want to embarrass them, so I kept walking.

I always get comments on my slings when I go to the mall. :)

  95. Hello Stepahnie! That's my daughters name, so will be easy for me to remember!LOL!! Dropping by from the UBP to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Erin and I am from Georgikids (my blog). I will be hosting my own little Georgikds Shindig in honor of UBP week all day today so please drop by and join in on the fun. Yummy party recipes, fun Easter crafts, beauty tips, and what ever else comes to mind. Mainly just a lot of fun and meeting great people. I will also be giving away some great prizes from my shop, so don't forget to stop by. It was so nice meeting you.
