This Post= Not The Post

I have nothing to write today. I've been looking through my archives for something to post because the post I really want to publish? I'm having second thoughts about.

Hubby says I should post it. I'm afraid of hurting feelings and turning people away. And really, this thing I wrote about probably isn't a big deal to anyone else but me. So that is why I'm going to hold off until I feel right about it and can handle the criticism in the comments.

Anyway. I think I'm going to head out to Target with all four kids where I'd much rather deal with criticism in people's eyes. We'll for sure be the show to see.

  1. I agree - don't post it until your ready.

Of course we all want to read it, because it sounds juicy and controversial. Because we're nosy like that.

But I get why you would want to wait until your "in your right mind to deal".

  2. yep, even though I'm curious I say wait until you are ready!

next Friday night, all by myself*, I'm taking my 18 month old to Disney on Ice along with my 11 year old niece, 9 year old nephew and 7 year old niece too... oh and I'm 27 weeks pregnant - I'm sure we'll be the show to see! I just might have to pretend like they are all mine for a night :)

*Hubby has to work and I'm giving my Brother & Sister-in-Law a date night! The kids are spending the night too - we're going to have a crazy fun night!

  3. I went to target a few weeks ago with my six girls and one little boy. I kid you not we had a few people laugh at us. i think i am going to ban Target for a while. the last two times i have been there with my children most of the women are very snooty and look like they want to give birth control because i am so pathetic. Or maybe next time i should wear a sign that states how blessed I am to have seven gifts from the Lord.

Have a great time and relish in being the show.

  4. Sometimes just typing it out for yourself can make you feel better...

even if you do decide to post it, we all love you for who you are, no matter what.

  5. Definitely don't post until you're ready, but do remember that you have a lot of support here :)

  6. On one hand, it's good to think before you post (much like speaking) but on the other hand, it's your blog. If you're concerned about your readership, who are you really writing for? Yourself or the masses? I would think it through, but don't hold back indefinately. You have a voice, use it girl!

  7. I think that you're right in waiting until you're ready to deal with it....

But there's a reason you really want to post it...... So remember that....

You are by far NOT controversial... you write about truth... and sometimes that hurts..... the ones who walk around eyes shut.

Doesn't it suck having to tip toe around people because you might offend someone?

I say forget that noise and embrace honesty.

  8. I'm right with Emily (designHERMom) wait till your ready. But then again your hubby knows you better than anyone, and can support you with all the criticism.

    {big support for you mama}

  9. I wish I were off today to tag along with you to Target! I love spending time with my 4 little dumplings. You have me curious about the post you are holding off on. But, when in doubt, don't post until you are ready to do it.

  10. No one would look at you funny here with 4 kids :) It's still pretty normal.

  11. i took all 4 girls to target the other day (after being at starbucks)...hope you don't find the criticism in their eyes today, but the love & admiration for the beautiful family you've been blessed with!!

  12. One of the most important things to remember is that what people think is not about you, it is about them. If they make comments it is only their perspective. It is as bad to take offense as it is to give offense. Jesus said that before you worry about the speck in another's eye you should take care of the log in your own. Also another is "judge not lest ye be judged."

  13. wait until it feels right, or you might always wonder. i had to laugh at a few posts back about breakfast versus lunch. My now 3 year old daughter and I went through that when my 15 month old son was born. I figured she couldn't control any of the other changes in her life, so wanted to control what she said. It made me feel better that I'm not the only mommy who face some of these challenges. (your taking your exclusively breastfeeding baby with you post also made me feel better) Thanks for sharing these with us.

  14. Post when you're ready, and while it's easy to say ignore the criticism, the couple times I've gotten it it still hurt. So, i won't tell you to ignore it.
You are amazing, just remember that there are TONS more of us who think that than those who don't.

  15. I just got back from Costco - where I had all three of my kids riding in the gigantic cart and even with just THREE kids, I felt like people were staring at me thinking, "God, that lady has a lot of kids." Bugs me.

  16. You know me, I'm all about just putting it all out there, but I'm also all about not feeling badly about sharing your feelings. So, trust yourself and wait.

I'm proud that you are thinking this through and know that whatever you decide, it's the right decision.

And if you decide to post it and ANYONE talks shit to you - it will not be pretty for them.
(do I sound like the terminator or what?)

  17. just wishing you peace as you make this decision. i always worry about how what i say will impact others as well.

  18. i agree. i think about posting things and then just don't feel easy about the response I COULD get. curious what the post is now, but will eagerly wait!!!

enjoy tarjey with your 4 beautiful children!

  19. Well you knew we'd all be curious but I totally understand about not posting something until you're ready. It's like you want to hit "publish" and then run! Do what your heart tells you.

  20. I don't hold much back, but there are some things I do hold back or never ever post. You'll know when and if it's time to post.

I have something I've been wanting to post about, but not sure if I should. Even though it's on my mind, it might offend others who don't see it my way.

  21. I get it - sometimes I've published something and then reading it in the light of someone else's eyes made me want to crawl in a hole.

  22. Obviously I'm with everyone else in that I'm insanely curious about what that post is about. But that's just the human, nosy part of me.

The rest of me, however, loves your blog so much and is content with whatever you do, or don't decide to post.

  23. If you aren't sure, then don't post it .. yet. I do the same thing, think about things and put them in writing and then force myself to wait for 24 hours and see how I still feel about the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Personally, I'm offended that you haven't posted it yet. So in protest, I am boycotting that post until you decide to post it.

    Harsh, I know, but that's how I feel. :)

  25. Posting or not posting about said topic, I just have to say taking all four kids out to WalMart? Impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Around here, people seem to be having more kids. Three is more the norm now...although I still get some looks.

    Hope the kids surprised you.

  27. Brimming with curiosity, of course, but you know I'd be satisfied with you telling me about another pair of cute shoes, too...

You'll know when you're ready to spill.

  28. I think that if it matters to you, and it's your blog, you should post it. I've found Four Little Men and Girly Twins blog recently, and she's been dealing with a lot of negativity for some of her beliefs (like healthy eating, nursing babes, no vacs, etc...) But I seriously think that if you have something that is soooo on your heart to write about, then know that those of us who LOVE reading you will stand behind what you say and support you.

The naysayers - well, we'll just remind them that on a personal blog, you're welcome to say whatever you want.

Be strong, be encouraged, and know that you are LOVED!

  29. You're certainly making us all curious!! But, don't post it until you're ready!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You shouldn't feel like you have to censor yourself. This is your blog after all.
When you're ready I think you should post it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Maybe you can make it a password protected post? Get it off your chest without actually sharing with the world? Or turn comments off.

  32. If people are staring at you and your beautiful family, it is only because of that, how beautiful you all are together. And happy. And some people are jealous, or happy for you, or perhaps remembering a time when their children were younger. Don't let them get you down.

  33. I think everyone feels like that sometimes. And I know it helps to just write it all out, whether it gets posted or not!

  34. I'm sending a hug through the computer :) And I hope your trip to Target wasn't too bad.

  35. Okay, now that you have said you have a post but aren't sure whether to post it-- you have to- you have me wondering! Plus, blogging is all about being honest and being able to write about whatever comes to mind, right?:)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nothing like a trip to Target with four kids to toughen the skin a bit! I have four under 9 as well. Lots of show when we go out. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'll be here to read your post whenever you're ready. Take all the time you need.

    I'm not going to say I'm not interested now...because I am...but I'm also patient.

Plus, I respect you and would never leave a nasty comment.

  38. You know where I stand on posts you aren't sure about...

  39. Ahh ... the Target run with kids in tow ... almost everytime I go with all 5 kids I swear I won't do that again. But sooner or later we need something so off we go :-)

    Blessings to you Steph!

  40. Now you have me very curious, but I can wait if that is what you need to do. Just remember that you have lots of support here. Hope the trip to Target was fun. My daughters love Target!

  42. Oooh - now I'm curious! Like all your other readers, I'm here for th long haul. I love reading all of your posts, whether I agree with you or not. You always make me think.

  43. I saw wait until you are ready! I agree you have a lot of support when it does come time.

Today was a rainy day...not bad, just rainy.

  44. I saw your "tweet" about this and now I'm *really* curious.

But I agree with what others have said: wait and post it when you're good and ready. Or don't post it at all. You have to do what is best for you and that sweet family of yours.
