G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S

The highlight of my day? Buying new cloth diapers online.

How is it possible to fill 15 hours up until now, the moment I can sit here and stare blankly with the quiet finally, wondering just what did I do all day?

What didn't I do?

I took a shower -highlight number two- and actually styled my hair (I blew it dry with a brush! And put a little pomade in it.) I met with my child's teachers and made a really important decision. I managed melt downs and breast feedings, failed at nap time and succeeded at snacking and watering all the kids of the neighborhood.

Overheard Noah trying to sell his friend on coming to our house for dinner, "we have the best food."

Dirtied pots and pans and cups and plates, juggled homework and housework, and Ivy called me Ma for the first time.

Had not one moment to myself- just as I got the kids and baby to sleep, hubby pulled into the drive way.

Wanted to do so much more. I did what needed to get done now and put off what can be done tomorrow. Tomorrow doesn't have a lot to compete with. But I still feel like I did the best I could.

And it was a pretty good day.

  2. I look at my living room overflowing with toys, books, homeowrk, backpacks, bottles and baby socks and I already know how much I'm going to miss it when they are grown.

I revel in our mess. :)

  3. I completely understand! I've done a lot of sitting and holding in the past 24 hours - but it's been a good day because I was able to simply "be here" when my little one needed me to be.

  7. these are the days of our life feeling like much doesn't get done and feeling overwhelmed.
trying to keep in the front of our minds that leaving legacies in our little ones hearts is all. that. matters. yes, these are the days of our lives as mommas (or ma's!!!)

  8. OOOOO! What diapers did you buy? Cloth or sposie?

The highlight of my day was buying diapers too. Two BumGenius with the new fleece inside and two Swaddlebees EcoNappis.

    :)

  11. Sounds pretty good to me, and soon enough, all of the kids will be in elementary school full time, and you'll be like me, wishing for the days where they were running around in their Scooby Doo undies, drinking from sippy cups and squishing handfuls of goldfish into their mouths while we watched Sesame Street. Instead. I am here alone waiting for the 2:45 bus to bring them back to me and debating on a shower or the laundry. Neither sounds good.

  14. Well, I think Ivy's diapers are stylin'. Glad you were able to take a shower and style your hair. How sweet that she is calling you Ma! I almost came out last night to hang out with you guys.

  20. Awwww babytalk! So cute.

I get positively squiggly over buying cloth diapers. And I haven't bought myself underwear or a cute shirt or anything in like a year.

    Ridiculous.

I've gotten so sucked into cloth diapering. I even enjoy hanging everything out on the line. Wow.

  21. She said "Ma"? I am so jealous. Baby Sister has not said anything yet. Well, she has signed a little but not Ma or Da.
Buying new cloth diapers would be the highlight of my day too. :)

  22. i was day dreaming about cloth diapering yesterday while nursing bianca. are you still loving it?

although i usually keep up very well on laundry, i decided yesterday to put it off as the girls were just not into playing nicely together as they usually do for that 1/2 hour. i'm glad i traded a piled up laundry counter of clothes waiting to be folded for "Go, Dog, Go & Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" =)

  27. Ah I love that Ivy said "Ma" -- so special.

meanwhile, how funny that Noah is totally hyping his mama's cooking up. so cute.

  28. It sounds like your day was pretty busy and teacher conferences are pretty important. Be glad your kids like your food and hope that they don't get over it when they become teenagers. And trust me, all work left undone will sit there waiting for you whenever.... My favorite saying is the no one on his or her deathbed ever said they wished they had cleaned the house more or did more dishes.

  29. Glad you had a good day! I can relate to all of the little (important) things that take up every single moment. Loving it! :)

  32. Hey. I have days like that.

Hope you are happy with the decision you made at school. I'm pretty happy with the most recent, difficult decision we made for Justin. He and Corinne are thriving being homeschooled....

  33. It sounds like my kind of day everyday. And some days that's more than enough and other days I crave more, but, like you, at the end of the day, I'm glad I spent it with my family because I couldn't even imagine missing things like being called 'Ma' for the first time.

I'm glad it was a good day and I hope you have another one today.

  39. Wow! This has got to be one of your best posts.... just now reading it! Ha! Tells you how far behind I am at this blogging stuff.... sounds a pretty typical day in the life of a mom of more than one child. Wow! Your life is full, crazy, hectic and above all- you're a blessed mama! :) Anyway, great post!

  40. Busy day! Buying cloth diapers is certainly a worthy highlight. It can be a tad addictive though. I often have to stop myself. :)

  41. Sounds to me like you did quite a bit! Lately, I'm just happy if I manage to take a shower, eat, and reply to an e-mail or two. I just feel like I'm nursing *all* day (oh, wait, maybe I am...).
