I am so tired that I almost couldn't type this post.
Last night I narrowly avoided a car accident- I'm still a little shaky inside from it- and that woke me up for a little bit.
But today, my body begs to hibernate. I have kids to dress and feed and cookies to bake and things to write and packages to mail.
I'm so tired I forgot what I was going to say next.
If things get done, they get done. If not- oh well. Of course my kids will be dressed and fed and even loved on some.
But that other stuff? We'll see.
Steph,
ReplyDeleteMy dear you need to rest. You are super mom, but even super mom needs to hang up her cape every now and again. You will not be useful to anyone if you're not rested, or worse, if you were in a car accident. :( Please take care of yourself and go easy on the holiday cheer.
Hugs,
Nat
Take care of yourself. Your health and sanity are the most important gifts you can give your family. Crud, I just realized I have no sanity left to give my family this year. Take a nap, Steph. Try to do better than me. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey mama. You've been running hard and fast, and I think you're body is definitely sending you an SOS . . . Time to take care of yourself, girl. Take the day off. Take tomorrow off. Cancel appointments and commitments. Do whatever you need to so that your body, mind, and spirit can be nourished and replenished!
ReplyDeleteI've learned to ignore a lot lately and just focus on what I can get done. If the house is messy and if the cookies don't get baked because you take a nap, that is okay. It's more than okay, it's necessary. If packages don't make it before Christmas, the gifts will still mean just as much. I know that you have to take care of the kids, but just ignore the rest and take care of Steph, too.
ReplyDeleteForget all the other stuff like baking, rest. You need it.
ReplyDeleteSteph, you do need to take care of yourself! Cookies can be bought at the bakery and stamps can be bought online, too (if you know the weight of your packages...)
ReplyDeleteHeck, go online to staples.com and order a cheap postal scale. It has saved me so much hassle. Trips to the post office are a complete waste of time. Especially painful if you need tr drag little ones along.
Hang in there! Can you get a sitter to come over after school so you can take a break?
I feel your pain today. I feel like I'm sleep walking. Try to take care of yourself. I wish you rest and health.
ReplyDeleteHere the advice that I am so awful at taking myself --- REST! Everything can else can wait! Your kids need a healthy, functioning mom and the more you push the worse it may get! I always find a day of rest brings for better productive days later! But I also know how hard as a mom it is to take this advice. So hang in there!
ReplyDeleteDitto to all those pps ... feed love and dress the kids, but then rest and rest together, all snuggled up.
ReplyDeletePraying for you!
I have been there (but with 1/2 the amount of children) - go get some sleep this afternoon mama! Take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteKnow the feeling our little blessing Sarah is nursing non stop and I'm not sleeping during the night and I'm awake with our little Monkey Rebekah during the day!!!!
ReplyDelete24 hour of work is getting me sooo tired bet it's the same with your family!
I can't even imagine what I'm in for when this new baby comes!
ReplyDeleteI'm with the others...the other stuff can wait or be skipped out on. Put the gifts in gift bags ;)
Nell
Take care, Steph! You need to rest. If packages are late, it's so fine. If kids stay in their PJs all day, they're fine.
ReplyDelete:)
Hang in there... this too will pass... and everything will look so much easier and achievable once you have rested... so how do you rest? It is amazing how much rest you can achieve by setting up bed camp and I have slept solidly while my kids have sailed the ocean blue (theoretically) - all they really want is to be close to you and if you are half asleep it won't matter... snuggle down and chill out - let everything else go - no one will remember any of this in 10 years time, let alone 100!
ReplyDeleteWe both need some rest! Let's get some today, ok? We'll be glad we did.
ReplyDeleteYou are so preaching to the choir. I am so overwhelmed that I am almost can't don anything. I only have 3 children and I'm exhausted. Many hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass, right?
Dear friend - do take care of yourself! While being a super mom, one must also realize that perfection comes with too high a price tag - sanity. I've learned with each addition to our family that I can't do it all right now, somethings have to wait, or can be done good enough by my little ones. . . not sure if this is exactly where you are but know that I've been there too :)
ReplyDeleteIs there someone you can call? You need to take a day off to sleep.
ReplyDeleteGet a sitter, Steph. It's the best thing you can do for EVERYBODY.
Slow down and take it easy on yourself. The holidays will go on regardless of how much or little you wear yourself out! Stay healthy and play catch-up in the new year. At least, that's what I am trying to do...
ReplyDeleteI'm there with you! Are you like me too and refuse to delegate?
ReplyDeleteDoes SOS stand for "Save Our Steph?" ; )
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about that other stuff... just take it easy & love on those kiddos!
Put the husband in charge of dinner/kids/bath/bedtime and go to bed. Like at 5!
ReplyDeleteThe other stuff is not important and will get done when it gets done.
you are super mom indeed! i say just spend a day in your jammies snuggling with those sweet little ones... that should refresh you a little :)
ReplyDeleteHUGE (((HUGS))) from one mama to another,
erika
RELAX! You can do it, relax that is. Don't worry about everything else. It is 11:33 here and we're still in our jammies. That's ok :) If the letters don't get written, that's ok. If the cookies don't get baked, go buy some :)
ReplyDeleteLove on those sweet kiddos and enjoy them.
love you!
kim
I really hope you're able to get the well-deserved rest that your body is craving. I know you have a huge support system around you so I hope you will reach out and let others help you out. You always do so much for everyone else. Take care!
ReplyDeleteOh, Steph!
ReplyDeleteHire a babysitter for the day and take your baby to bed with you. Get your husband to buy the Christmas cookies and REST UP.
aw sweets,
ReplyDeletei know how your feeling. i was in the Urgent Care last night for the absolute worst sinus infection i have ever had. Feeling better today, but resting as much as possible. Yesterday, I was one milisecond away from death.
You deserve a little rest sometimes, you work so hard and do so much. Glad Jeff stayed home today to help you out, sometimes a hubby's just gotta do it, glad yours recognizes that. Mine on the other hand...eh, not so much.
Get feeling better and rest up!
Jen
Now I am worried about you...almost getting in an accident. Buy the cookies you need to bake.
ReplyDeleteI like your mama's idea of buying the cookies you need to bake -- that is why god made bakeries in grocery stores.
ReplyDeleteAnd if that just will never fit with your holiday traditions - for get about everything else but the kids and bake the cookies with the kids. Then sit down and eat half of them as a reward for doing it all.
I did see your twitter that your husband stayed home. Good. Hope you took a nap.
ditto! little babies, holidays, too much to do!
ReplyDeletehope you get some much needed rest and have a peaceful week!
britt
Thinking of you today, Steph.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you today, Steph. I'm having one of those weeks myself.
ReplyDeleteLots of love.
Forget the cookies and the wrapping, you need rest! All that other stuff can wait. :)
ReplyDeleteI could tell you to take the time you need to rest but I know you won't ;) I wouldn't either. Its the holidays, and somehow egg nog and cookies powers our abilities into high gear to allow for us to do the things we do... usually. Every now and again we need a breather. It *is* ok to do that, you know.
ReplyDeleteI was almost in an accident too! Dropping my daughter off yesterday, this lady went way too fast and fishtailed almost into me! Totally not my fault, and man did it have me foot-stompin' mad, but I realized, before I began to foam at the mouth that she wasn't trying to hit my car, and while she wasn't driving smartly, I needed to chill, there were babies who needed me in the car, my babies. So I continued on, even if I did seethe a little to myself.
So try and slow a little for me, ok? Pace yourself. *hugs*
"If things get done, they get done. If not- oh well."
ReplyDeleteYou are my kind of girl. Get some rest (easier said than done) and just enjoy the kids this holiday.
Big (((HUGS))) Girlie.. It's hard to admit sometimes but it does catch up to us. Since hubbs has been out of work on medical leave since August, I have been pulling about 70 hours of working to just trying to keep us afloat with bills. It's catching up to me... fast :(. But I would not change anything for the world because I know I get to work at home and hubbs is alive from the accident. It just feels good to talk about it though to other moms that understand.
