Like Chuck, I seem to be the only person who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem.
That's not me. That's not the usual me, at least. Not the me I want to be.
I am so thankful I have a new stocking- a pink one!- to hang up this year.
I love it that Noah is the only one who can make Ivy laugh the deep belly laugh.
It makes me sad that today Carter wrote "My Mommy is tyred sometimes" but also happy that we can talk about it...
and rethink just what is worth it: nourishing my soul, shining a Light, investing more time in seeing the world through these eight eyes instead of a heart-less computer.
Sometimes it's not about balance at all. There really are things in life that are just more important than others.
When I think back to the past couple months, yeah, they were rougher than I'd like to admit.
But this entire year? Amazing.

ReplyDeleteIvy and Noah have a special connection...he is her comedian, but what is so neat about how he makes her laugh is, he is so quiet about it and it is so effortless. She looks so protected by her Bros.

So true. I think the holidays can really make a mom reflect like this and leave us feeling a bit like we are failing. I just posted about this on my site a few days ago. I was amazed at how many women have said that is exactly what they needed to hear.

ReplyDeletegirl, i can totally relate!! it is not always easy. in fact, it is rarely easy! i find myself having to take a step back and get my footing before jumping back into the maddness of my mommy life quite often :) you are incredible!!

ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone, great honest post. Every time I reflect on a difficult time in my life (like the first three months of both of my children's lives) I try to make the best of it while going through it, but it really was hard. Maybe it's the optimist in us.
