Like Chuck, I seem to be the only person who can take a wonderful season like Christmas and turn it into a problem.
That's not me. That's not the usual me, at least. Not the me I want to be.

I am so thankful I have a new stocking- a pink one!- to hang up this year.
I love it that Noah is the only one who can make Ivy laugh the deep belly laugh.
It makes me sad that today Carter wrote "My Mommy is tyred sometimes" but also happy that we can talk about it...
and rethink just what is worth it: nourishing my soul, shining a Light, investing more time in seeing the world through these eight eyes instead of a heart-less computer.
Sometimes it's not about balance at all. There really are things in life that are just more important than others.
When I think back to the past couple months, yeah, they were rougher than I'd like to admit.
But this entire year? Amazing.

ReplyDelete{{{HUGS}}}
Yes, yes, yes! I can totally relate! You have such a beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteIvy and Noah have a special connection...he is her comedian, but what is so neat about how he makes her laugh is, he is so quiet about it and it is so effortless. She looks so protected by her Bros.
ReplyDeleteAnd who couldn't just fall in love with those beautiful kids every time you look at them?!
ReplyDeleteNell
I agree with Mama Bub. Your words do hit home.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone, and many of us are in the same boat.

Great reminder to "keep perspective," as always.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I just wanted to say that I love your blog post titles. They're so creative and they always "draw me in."
So true my friend. Hang in there, it has to get better :)
ReplyDeleteIt's always about evaluating and reevaluating your priorities. ALWAYS.

ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad, I think everyone is in a funk this Christmas. I don't know what it is.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful perspective. And beautiful picture too. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts. Perspective is always such a crucial thing, and it sounds like you are stepping back and getting a good dose of it!
ReplyDeleteI need to do the same.
"Sometimes it's not about balance at all. There really are things in life that are just more important than others." So, so true.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of all your kids!
What positively joyful feelings.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great post, Steph! At this time of year especially, your comment about balance is a great reminder.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your balancing act!
So true. I think the holidays can really make a mom reflect like this and leave us feeling a bit like we are failing. I just posted about this on my site a few days ago. I was amazed at how many women have said that is exactly what they needed to hear.
ReplyDeleteHere is my post:

So true! It isn't all about balance sometimes, but about priorities instead! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeletegirl, i can totally relate!! it is not always easy. in fact, it is rarely easy! i find myself having to take a step back and get my footing before jumping back into the maddness of my mommy life quite often :) you are incredible!!
ReplyDeleteokay, time for the silly sewing mama comment:: look at the pretty amy butler boppy covers!! love 'em!! :) and of course the sweet little girl surrounded by adoring little boys is pretty darned cute too!
xo,
erika
What a sweet picture! I love how they're crowded around her. Such a beautiful post....
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone, great honest post. Every time I reflect on a difficult time in my life (like the first three months of both of my children's lives) I try to make the best of it while going through it, but it really was hard. Maybe it's the optimist in us.
