Release Me

I am still in awe of this new baby.

When I speak to her, I feel she really truly listens. Her deep blue eyes take in my every word. Maybe it's the look on my face that is so interesting.

All I care about is that she knows she is loved.

I watch her fall asleep so innocently and so vulnerable- there in my arms while I just stare at this sleeping beauty.

If someone stared at me while I slept I am pretty sure I would not like it.

But I cradle her and she rests. Her body completely given up to me. I can feel her surrender. The peace.

And how good this makes me feel- to know
she knows I will take care of her. I will love her. And everything will be ok.

To feel her
let go and let me. A lesson again my children teach me... as I am a child, too. A reminder to let go already. And just let God.

  1. So so sweet Steph! What a beautiful post to an adorable Ivy :)

I love watching my girls sleep when I crawl into bed with them each night. I have to hold their hands while I fall asleep.

  2. There's so much to learn from newborns. They just inherently know that they're safe and will be protected and can sleep with such abandon. If only the rest of us could always feel that secure.

  3. I love that i can watch my boys sleep. I feel like you - that if someone was watching me I would wake and feel odd. That our children sleep while we look on is a huge testament to their knowing how we love them.

  4. I love watching Baby Mo drift off to sleep. I have the Golden Touch as for getting him to sleep, but of ocurse I do, I'm his Momma! He is two weeks younger than Ivy. I also love watching my other two children sleep- they look so peaceful.

  13. AMEN! That time of holding them to sleep is sooo short and over so fast! Enjoy every minute of her! An amazingly beautiful post, a great reminder, thank you for taking me back to those days of holding them and rocking them to sleep and the awe of not being able to put them down, even while they slept!
