Patent Pending

So, the baby high is showing no signs of wearing off anytime soon.

I mean, this is what I get to look at all day long. I tell her she's delicious and nutritious and if I could bottle up that feeling of her velvety hair against my chin and face, oh my, I would.

She giggles in her sleep. And smiles. A lot. Just the other day when I was saying how Daddy tells her that Mommy is going to teach her all about shopping, she laughed so sweetly. In her sleep, of course, but obviously she's already dreaming about shoes.

I still can't leave the house yet- not until she is two weeks old- midwife's orders. I don't mind at all. But I did sneak out into the backyard last night and my bare feet snuggled into the cool evening grass. It felt sooo good. And was even worth the seven mosquito (or skeeto as Gray says) bites on my ankles.

  6. It's amazing how babies can smile already! I didn't leave the house until 12 days but is it because you had a home birth?

  10. the baby hair...why does it ever have to go away?

when lennon was first born (and he still has tons of soft hair, thank goodness!), i kept thinking, "wouldn't it be great if they could make a blanket out of baby hair, without hurting the baby, of course." in retrospect, it seems sorta creepy, but i have to admit...the thought crossed my mind, several times.

  17. My husbands grandmother always said that when babies smile in their sleep they are smiling at angels. I love that, but I am also loving the shoe theory too :) She is just beautiful!

  23. If you don't mind sharing I'd love to know more about the 'not leaving the house' order from the midwife.

We were eating at restaurants and shopping together when Princess was 4 days old. Was this a giant mistake? Is this why I didn't have the glorious baby love fest that you are enjoying?

Just wondering and eager to learn.

  36. Leaving the house is overrated! what I wouldn't give to have a sweet cuddler again instead of a biting teether... want to trade? Just for a couple of weeks?

  37. Oh, I love not being able to leave the house. I try to make that last as long as possible.

Kiss that baby for me. She sure has smooching cheeks!

  50. Her smile is so precious. I know what you mean. Every afternoon when my older daughter is napping I should attempt to get some work done but always find myself curled up on the couch just taking in everything baby from Stella knowing too well that it doesn't last nearly long enough!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Precious smile! I'm sure in no time (like the minute she is 2 weeks old) you will be headed to Target for her first lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  52. great 'orders' from the midwife! i overdid it last time, and i'm trying to avoid that this time round. (my girl was born on sunday!)

  56. There is nothing like rubbing your face against that soft baby hair. I still rub Boo's when he'll be still long enough (or when he's in the sling or mei tai).

    She's beautiful!

  58. I just read your tweet about product reviews. It wouldn't let me DM or @ you because your not following me. I'd be interested in reviewing a few products. What can I do to help? Thanks.

  59. "Delicious" is such a great way to describe an adorable snuggly bundle of smiles and giggles. My own snuggle bunnies were smiley and giggly too.

On the down side, I am so prone to "skeeter" bites so I smell like OFF all day every day. Still, I doubt I could resist the evening hike out to the backyard!

  60. that picture is priceless...ENJOY!!!

  61. LOOK at that grinning little beauty! She is so adorable, Steph.

  62. she really is beautiful, I love when they laugh in their sleep. My kiddo had colic for the first 5 months (yes 5 months) so I didn't get those sweet moments.
