How does it feel to have a girl? I am asked this a lot these past few days. To be honest, I am enjoying every sleeping and waking moment of my new baby. Of Ivy. And the fact that she happens to be a girl hasn't really mattered just yet. Sure, there's the changing of the diapers and little girly squeaks and songs (she sings already, I tell you.)
But she's my baby. Gender not really thought about.
Maybe when I start to pull out more of her pink clothes and very non-boy outfits, maybe then it will start to sink in. But for now, I'm in baby bliss. It's all snuggles and kisses and her warm head resting in the nook of my neck. It's just right. And she's my girl.
Photos by Beth.
She's so yummy :)
ReplyDeleteAnd a beautiful girl at that!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet...the photos and the writing. She is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to snuggle. Those photos are perfection! She, is perfection!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little baby. I love baby bliss! A warm head snuggled close to your neck. jealous.
ReplyDeleteI can't even tell you how much all of these posts and pictures are making me want another baby RIGHT NOW! She's beautiful, and I love the picture of the two of you.
ReplyDeleteSo, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYou've just described how much I'm loving my second son. We have three daughters and a boy who's almost 9. I have a sister and was raised by a single mom, so the girl thing just seems normal. But boys, to me, are just pure magic, and getting to do the boy thing again is a special grace that I thank God for every day.
ReplyDeleteAlso, did you take the photos yourself? I'm have ZILCH luck getting something sweet and, you know, not-potato-looking of my new little man.
Oh she is SO cuuuute!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of you. Even amongst all that beautiful baby bliss, you still blog and respond to blog comments. You are amazing and Ivy is so lucky to have such a fabulous mommy. By the way, she is really gorgeous... love those cheeks.
ReplyDeleteOMG! She is so adorable! Enjoy those warm fuzzy moments - Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh so sweet! I can't wait to snuggle mine!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the photos, she is so cute and she is so lucky to have you as her mother!
ReplyDeleteAll these bloggy babies are definitely giving me the baby itch...that and my little girl growing up on me so fast!
Take care,
Steph
When I was expecting my first girl, a mother who'd had 2 boys and then a girl said it didn't feel different for her until her daughter was about a year old. For me it was different immediately.
ReplyDeleteShe's a little cupcake!
She is the most precious little gift. You look like a natural with a baby girl. She is so lucky to have you for her mommy.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are always on my mind...... I love the pix! Can't wait to meet Ivy!
ReplyDeleteI so need another one now. She's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteShe looks delicious- I could just eat her up. Soak in that sweet baby smell.
ReplyDeleteYeah, at this age the biggest difference is that girls pee on you less.
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely.
She looks like she's about a month old already! So full and round:) I'm on my way to talking theFM into another one:) he usually says "NO!" and the other night he said "we'll see." Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeletePrecious!
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely beautiful. I love the photo of her all curled up. What a doll - she's amazing!
ReplyDeleteChanging diapers must be a little different though, right? I don't know if I would know how to change a girl! HA!
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet pics - keep 'em comin'! : )
It really sank in that I had a GIRL after she began requesting dresses and frills. When she wanted bows in her hair and princesses as her first choice of things to play with. The fact that I am taking her to ballet class tomorrow? Still blows my mind. I HAVE A GIRL!!
ReplyDeleteShe certainly is delicious...
Oh wow - she is adorable! Congratulations and welcome to the world sweet, sweet Ivy (I love that name).
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right, gender aside . .. she's YOUR BABY! Enjoy!
Oh that first pictures makes me want to "smoosh" on her, as my family would say. Those cheeks resting on those little fists... oh they are only this tiny for a little while. Enjoy, my friend. Although it sounds like you are!
ReplyDeleteBaby bliss! Enjoy :)
ReplyDeletethe little head breathing on the neck. there's nothing else quite like it.
ReplyDeleteshe's practically perfect, and beautiful, just like her mama.
The pictures you've posted are so darling... she really is one of the cutest newborns I've seen! And your contentment and happiness are infectious :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you know I've walked this same road (a girl after three boys). I felt just what you described. I think she was well over 1 before I stopped thinking "baby" and started thinking "girl".
ReplyDeleteBut OH, honey...we started ballet lessons last week. And let me tell what yumminess you have in store.
Gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeletecongratulations. She is Gorgeous! What beauty in your writings! I could feel the love and the beauty! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteGirls are gorgeous - but babies in general (no matter what gender) are devine.
ReplyDeleteShe is devine, and so loveable. Now go and enjoy her :)
She is so beautiful. I jus melt whenever Stella tucks her head into the crook of my neck too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you, Stephanie. She's beautiful, you're a beautiful new mom, and I love her name! (and all along I thought you were going to give us another Ruth)
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely!! And such wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos... again! : ) When we had Elizabeth, diaper changes seemed to be the most different thing about her! And my husband wouldn't do it, he said, "She's broken! See, she's got a crack!" ; )
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy every moment. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just want to cuddle her! Just looking at those pictures makes me want to smell a new baby.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! That little face just begs to be kissed. The pictures are precious.
ReplyDeleteSteph,
ReplyDeleteshe is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to cuddle with her too! She's too cute to resist! :) I'm glad you're enjoying it so much!
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful!! Love the pics, too :)
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of her!! She is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had internet so I haven't seen pictures. She's adorable! I'm so happy everything went well! Congrats! Enjoy your girl!
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute! I love the baby part - the snuggling and the baby smell. And your boys are too sweet.
ReplyDeleteI loved hanging with you two GIRLS so much yesterday...and Gray, too. With his dinosaurs. When can I come back?
ReplyDeletesuch tender photos mama
ReplyDeletehope all is going well
notice any big differences between your babe's personalities just yet?
What a wonderful time for you and your family! Children are the greatest miracle of all. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an angel!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely lovely. And I know just what you mean. Peabody's sortof gender neutral still too. He wears cute little boy things but still, he's just a little lump of sweet babiness now, just like his sister was at his age. I'm sure the boyishness will kick in soon though, and Ivy's girlishness!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, what a beautiful baby she is! I can see why you are so proud. Congrats to you:)
ReplyDeleteAwww adorable picture!!! Gender make no difference babies are just cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYou both look so beautiful! Congrats to the eager big brothers and daddy too.
ReplyDeleteBeth took some awesome pictures. Ivy looks darling! Oh, the way you describe the sweet newness of a newborn almost makes me crave another. But then I remember they grow up (too fast) and the baby memories fade. I'm just going to have to get my baby fix elsewhere. Savor each moment!
ReplyDeleteLove those pictures!! She looks so much older than just 3 days old! She's ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how easily you can go from being miserable and hugely pregnant to a state of utter and complete overwhelming bliss?
ReplyDeleteI love that time in the beginning the best before the baby realizes it is separate from you and you still don't quite believe it either.
She really is precious.
Your pics make me wish I was much farther along then 10 weeks.
ivy is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI NEED A FOURTH BABY TOO!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, she's so beautiful. Lucky, lucky you.
I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't think there is a difference in the feelings in the very beginning. Just the same baby bliss with a boy or a girl :) She is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the gender issue comes up for at least another month or so... although with Jasper the whole diaper change/pee thing rocked my world... ha!
ReplyDeleteShe's just adorable! I'm so having a baby craving right now, and mine's only 10 months old. I miss his little newborn noises and the constant cuddling. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteawe girl u are making me want a 3rd!! stop that! :-) she is just beautiful... if you are ever in NC let me know I have got to photography a baby named Ivy :-) w/ all her brothers.
ReplyDeleteShe is amazingly precious!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll share Ivy's birth story sometime :) I'm so happy for you, and I really want to see some great babywearing photos of you two! Has she been enjoying the sling?
ReplyDeleteHow precious! I love the pictures of her; it makes me yearn to hold the little girly one in my womb! (Only 8-ish more weeks!)
ReplyDeleteOh wow- she is so cute. Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my. You sure know how to make a gal want another baby. And what a great job Beth did. I'm wanting to see the rest of them now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of a beautiful girl! I'm so jealous...I want a baby now.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny that you remark about that - I had our 7th child in April and we only have 1 girl, and we waited to find out the sex and everyone wanted a girl but turned out he was a boy. And now people ask me "do you still want to have a girl?" I just say "Now that he is here, I realize, I just wanted a baby. He was the first in 10 years. I so missed it!
ReplyDeleteSteph,
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely beautiful!Congratulations! :)
She is just so cute! Keep up the good work, mama!
ReplyDeleteGetting to play with my daughter's hair and when she started liking dolls was when I think it really sank in for me that I had a girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying her so much! She is adorable!
I'm squealing right now. Totally. Squealing.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I am drowning, just drowning in the precious! She is so gorgeous and I hope she grows up to look just like you!
ReplyDeleteOh she is just so precious - what a sweet, sweet girl you have there. :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, she is PRECIOUS! Good job mommy...and daddy! ;)
