Yesterday we had an impromptu picnic at the park with Crooked Eyebrow and Beth. It was the first time our children had ever met, but within less than two seconds they were already buddies.
All six of them.
Oh, and yes. I didn't know I wasn't before, but I do feel better now that I got to be with my friends.

I've wondered the same thing. What happens to that friends with everyone mentality? Fun park play date!
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely something to cherish about the innocence of childhood friendships. I think my boys could rattle off more friends names than I can. They remember everyone they ever met and played with at the park, library, church, etc. (don't always remember names, but could describe em to a T".
ReplyDeleteGlad you all had a fun day at the park!
i found this great website the other day and wanted to share...http://hrbaby.com/
ReplyDeletethere's tons of helpful information to make the everyday topics of a mothers life seem a bit less overwhelming even has information about babywearing.
loads of tips and helpful ideas for fun for the family, organization, alone time, etc.
There really isn't anything like friendships during childhood.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way!
ReplyDeleteWatching them play, accepting each other was awesome. Grown ups could learn a lesson from kids more often.
Mommy time does us all good!
There is definitely something to be learned from how easily accepting children are. It looks like everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeletegreat Impromptu Photos!!
ReplyDeleteThey all looked like best buds! Next year Ivy will be running or crawling around with them. What a fun day!
ReplyDeleteSo true about kids. I would love it if adults could be that way!
ReplyDeleteI've marveled at that same thing. David can just hears someone in the other stall in the bathroom & he says they're his new friend. We should be so lucky!
ReplyDeleteI was just talking about that this morning. Another friend said, "Why are we so busy we can't ever get together with our friends?"
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering the same thing about my cousin. (Waving to Jen who NEEDS to come visit!!)
that is so cute he wanted to make you feel better. Friends always make me feel better!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Love the pics, particularly the black and white--and you're so right--it would be great to recapture that sense of friendship and instant rapport!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Simply adorable. I often wish I could be like that again, so carefree....
ReplyDeleteSometimes I meet people who do. Last week I went to a babywearing meeting in another town (I usually only go to the one nearby, but several of us decided to try the larger one out). I met this awesome lady who homeschools her six kids and she immediately sat down with me and we discussed it for like 45 minutes. I just love meeting people like that!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true about kids... it would be so much easier sometimes if we, as adults, were always like that, too. So glad you all had fun!
ReplyDeleteJane
Ah, to be a kid again. :)
ReplyDeleteRoo is actually very shy with big groups of kids. It takes her about 20 minutes before she'll run off and join in. Still, I wish cocktail parties were that easy!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I wish I lived just a little bit closer so I could do playgroups with you. I love how kids become instant best friends- I wish adult women were more like that ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely feel better after going out with my friends tonight! I like the picture of them running.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteHe looks so big... :(
oh how funny! i take bubbie to play group and mops to play with his friends, but i secretly have a great time interacting with all the moms too! love the last pic where the kids are running!!!!
ReplyDeleteFriends are a breath of fresh air. I am glad you had a great time together.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Why can't we be instant best buds with the neighbor and be laughing and having the time of our lives?!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a weekend trip we took to the beach last year. While the grownups were sitting at their separate tables eating solitary, quiet breakfasts, the kids were altogether in the lobby talking about the best places to go and all the fun things to do. It was a great moment to watch, especially since my "quiet" daughter who doesn't make friends easily at home was the center of attention...and completely comfortable with it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, us grownups could learn a thing or two from the kids. :)
That it awesome that you got together and the kiddos got to meet! Fun!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures! Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteI think kids make friends more easily is that they live in the moment - the now. They aren't carrying all the "baggage" that adults seem to drag around. Maybe we need to find our inner child again.
ReplyDeleteJust another way kids amaze me. My oldest makes friends with older boys wherever we go to play. And we get in the car and he's all like "Brian is my new buddy!"
ReplyDeleteCute shots and glad EVERYONE had fun! (mommies too!)
How fun! Love the pics ladies!
ReplyDeleteSo true, so true. Adults get so caught up in their own "stuff," they forget that making friends is so important!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a blast.
ReplyDeletefun pics. :)
ReplyDeletei just wrote a bit about this in my post w/ our vacation pics today. ava made a friend at the resort we were staying at and was hugging and kissing her in less than 30 minutes time. friendship is so simple when you are a kid.
I think it goes back to the whole innocence that kids have. They are so trusting and accepting of each other. At what point do we lose that?
