One time I forgot to put shoes on Gray and realized it when we got to the kids' hair place. I said I forgot baby's shoes! What kind of mother am I? and Noah said You're a GOOD mother.
Just yesterday at the park Carter stopped playing and came up to me to say Mommy, I love you. It was in front of my friend, too, and almost made me teary.
Gray's independence at two years old can be a bit unnerving yet also glorious. But when he comes to grab my hand and ask for my help doing something that's just too big for his own confidence, it does feel good to be needed and know that I make him feel safe.
This baby girl inside me kicks and pushes around more than my other pregnancies combined. And I love it. I wonder what she's thinking in there. And I hope someday she knows how much I've been blessed to carry her, and how much it has changed me.

so sweet. Honestly, if I was a bad mother because a kid didn't have shoes? I would have locked up that title long ago. More than once I have had to buy shoes for the littlest one because she forgot them en route to somewhere and I couldn't go back home. A couple of times we have just shown up with no shoes.

One of the positives about Florida living- if the child is staying in the shopping cart, no shoes are needed!
My daughter was definitely more active than my sons; she still is.
Isn't it funny how a little thing like a child getting dressed by themselves can make you so proud and yet so sad at the same time.
At least he had a diaper on, right? I'll never forget how I forgot to diaper Justin when I was pregnant with Evan... He got out of bed in the morning soaking wet and I realized that his butt was completely unclothed! I searched for the missing diaper until I realized that he couldn't have taken it off and then put his footy jammies back on!
Oh the independence can break my heart sometimes!
My thinking is as long as you don't forget one of the kids along the way, who cares if they have shoes? :):) No, I have never forgotten one of the kids, but I have at one time or the other bought diapers and or wipes on the fly.
I forgot to nurse Kolby when he was a baby. We started our morning and about 11, I couldn't get him to stop crying and then thought back through the morning and nope, hadn't nursed him yet! It was the only time it happened, so far!
Aren't those sweet words from our kids so priceless?
Oh, and I've forgotten to put shoes on my kids too. I also forgot to bring my daughter to a birthday party once. I felt bad for days!
I love it when Sam says he loves me. I never have any idea what prompts it, but it really does make me proud how often he tells me and everyone else in our family how he loves us. I'll have to try and always keep it in mind in the midst of a huge tantrum of wailing and gnashing of teeth.
No worries... I, too, have forgotten my kid's shoes.
My girls were so much more active inside then my boys but way calmer on the outside :)

doesn't it just melt you when they say things like that. My 3rd is known for saying special things to me daily.
oh and #4... ozzie... was CRAZY in my belly. I said he kicked more than the others combined and funny thing. He's my most active one. :)

I loved reading this. Today, my daughter reached over and gave me a hug and told me she loved me. It wasn't at the times she usually does that, so it was quite unexpected and much appreciated.
It is validating when your kids do things like that. I love when my daughter and I play this game where we point at each other and (as loud as we can) sing song, "I MISS YOU!" or "NO, I LOVE YOOOU!!" Love, love, love it!

My validation is when Esme looks at me with a beautiful smile as a put her to bed, says "Mum," rolls over, and falls asleep immediately. I want more moments like that!
If your baby girl is anything like my baby girls, she is dreaming and thinking about SHOES - hence all the kicking. Can't wait for you to find out just how different the girls are from the boys :)
