The belly. Oh is it growing. I'm finding myself farther & farther away from the sink as I wash dishes. A swift leg kick/pump helps me get off the bed every morning (and about three times in the middle of the night for potty breaks, too.) I waddle. Majorly. And I think she's going to be early.I don't know what it is but I just have this feeling that sooner than later in the next six weeks my baby will want to be born. I might be wrong. But it's just this feeling. And I am so not ready. I mean, I do have all the stuff. It's just all piled in a closet.
I want to have at least some sort of order before she gets here. And time is sifting like sand through my fingers. I love it. I love that I'll have that little girl in my arms so very soon. I just want to have my head not in this place of wackadoodleness.
Side View:
And I guess the only other thing on my mind today is that yesterday alone I had three different people respond with an assuming ugly tone "you're done now" when they hear I am finally having our girl. I never said we were done. I never said we weren't. But FYI just do not assume that because I have three boys and am now supposed to be having a girl that we must have only been trying for a girl all along and now that we "got her" we are done. There. I said it. That feels better.
Oh, and also last night someone actually pointed and said "look at her belly button!" I'm a show, I tell you.
Belly 32 weeks.
but you are a beautiful show!
ReplyDeleteI think your belly is adorable. (but then again, I'm not the one subjected to all those late night kicks!)
Your belly is gorgeous. You should seriously be on that show "Runway Moms" about the pregnant models. I loved meeting you in the Mom Select swag suite and I promise to never ask you to babysit my kids on a Saturday night! xoxox Jess
ReplyDeleteThe belly button comment made me laugh. I always referred to mine like it was the thermometer in a frozen turkey. When it popped out, the baby was done cooking.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me it was a child and not an adult that pointed out your bellybutton... When I was pregnant, my 8th graders recoiled with various shock and horror at my bellybutton, but I excused them for it for being 8th graders (and also, I figured it was good birth control).
ReplyDeleteI think you are beautiful and my belly button is already flat at 11 weeks, so Im sure it will look much like yours later.
ReplyDeleteI also hate people assuming you're done because of sex. When I told people G was a boy, they were like "Oh, one of each, you can be done now!" I loved watching their faces when I said, "No, we want to have 4".
Love the baby belly!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic. People make inane comments all the time regarding children, or the lack thereof. Apparently the filters stop working when it comes to procreation comments, both positive and negative. :)
ReplyDeleteoh! I just left a super long comment that didn't save!!!
ReplyDeleteWent something along the lines of-
Grr people have not tact! you have the most gorgeous belly (button and all!)
I think there is something to be said about that feeling but I definitely thing babies come when they're ready.
Take it easy! Those closets can wait!
You are beautiful and we are all waiting to see Ivy!
ReplyDeleteThis week's shot show alot, your belly and beauty. (I like the pony tail, its darling)
I did see a lot of people looking at your belly at the fair and almost pointing, mostly adults. You look great and I really like your waddle. I agree that I think Ivy will come sooner than planned. I think it's just something people have the habit of saying when they see you are expecting again.
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful show - I agree! And people can be so rude....sorry!
ReplyDeleteI don't often comment, but I do enjoy following your blog :)
My belly button never popped out. It made me a little sad, I was looking forward to it for some reason!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how people make assumptions about when a family is "done." It's so hard to ignore them when they say rude things like that!
yes, the same people that said things like "that's ok", or "i'm sorry" when you had your 3rd boy, will now conveniently flip to being snide and rude and assuming that now that you "got" your girl, that you're done with babies. i can only guess that this will NEVER change, and we just have to live with it, and realize that not everyone is like this.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you look beautiful, and you'll be ready, whenever the time comes!
OK, I've been reading your blog for awhile and thought I'd comment on this one.
ReplyDeleteI am my parents first girl and I have three older brothers (very much like your little Ivy). My parents had two boys and decided they were done. God later convicted them and started trying to have kids again. After two miscarriages, my parents had my third older brother, than me and, later, three more boys and three more girls. My oldest brother is 28 and his wife is expecting their third, I am 17 and looking forward to being a wife and mother someday, and my youngest sister just turned 5.
All of that just to say... May God bless you as you raise your children!
Hannah
Why are people so negative about large families? My mo basically gives me the same tone when she asks if I'm done. I just don't get it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, love your belly. There isnt an ounce of fat on that body! Just all baby belly.
We get a lot of the same comments because we're finally having a boy. After 2 girls, of course we must have wanted a boy, right? Of course we were trying for a boy each time, right? Wrong.
ReplyDeleteLove the belly! You are pretty big. So am I, though, and I'm 9 weeks behind you. I just haven't gotten around to posting any pictures of mine yet.
Wow, that sounds like what everyone was saying to me when I found out my fifth was going to be a boy. They would say, well you have 3 girls and now you'll have 2 boys I guess you're all done, right? HaHa! It's like they want to make sure this is it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know if I'm done, yet. My little one is going on 20 months and anything can happen, like it always does ;-)
You look so pretty, even with the protruding belly button. :-)
You are so cute! And I got that comment after I had my 2nd. "You got your boy and your girl. You can be done now."
ReplyDeleteURGH!!
I got the same thing with mine. Most people these days think that two is the limit on kids. One boy and one girl is perfect, but if you have two of one gender, well, that will have to do. If you have more than two, it is obviously because you wanted a specific gender really badly, not because you like a big family or you believe in letting God choose how many of His precious gifts you get! So funny to me.
ReplyDeleteYour belly is gorgeous. I remember loving all the kicks and swishes, I miss my baby belly! This momma pooch I have instead just isn't cutting it...isn't crazy how people assume you are or should be done based on their assesment of your family?
ReplyDeleteTake care, hang in there!
Steph
People are so funny, aren't they, like they can determine the proper number & order of children that you SHOULD have. I can't believe the things people assume sometimes!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! :) And yeah...we get SO many comments about being 'done' now that we have a boy and a girl. It is actually quite annoying. We are planning to have more kids. :) And the commments "one of each...oh that's so nice! or "you have the perfect family now" are kinda annoying too...soooo they're saying that if we'd had two boys our family wouldn't be perfect? haha...I know they don't mean any harm, but those types of comments do tend to get on your nerves after a while!
ReplyDeleteOh Steph I love you belly pic!!! preggo is so beautiful (but your pretty all the time no matter what)
ReplyDeleteI personnaly love the outy (belly button) I wish mine would do the same but a couple years ago I had to have a surgery (appendix needed to be out in a hurry) so I had laparoscopy and instead of a huge scare on my side I had a cut in the belly button
People do say the weirdess thing when your preggo! I keep having people saying to me "wow you are big, how far along are you?" and then when I tell them that I'll be 17 weeks soon they ask me if I we're having multiple or I have my date wrong!!!!! Ahhh! it is kinda annoying!!! I was all belly for my first and this one is the same (I didn't even gain one pound yet and all my shirt are way to tight LOL
God has plan this little girl entrance in the world and the number of child for you So if you need to answer to some people you could always say that we let God control the size and arrivial of you little one
But seriously who are we to decide how much God is suppose to bless us
God will open the wood and He is in total control
I will probably need to remind myself of these word as I get closer to our due date!!!
have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Lord's day tomorrow
Renee
I'd feel like telling them, "how can I be done with something so wonderful?", just to see the look on their face.
ReplyDeleteI know most people don't mean it to sound like a judgment, but nothing wrong with letting them know it could be taken that way.
Man. People are rude. And the more I get comments about having "so many kids" (3 is that many???) the more kids I want to have. I'm sassy that way. ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to have two or three more kids. As it is it will take some convincing to get hubby to agree to one more. ???
You look beautiful!
oh girl, you better get ready! I hope it's not "any day now", because that would be a bit too early.....but it's gonna be soon! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteH! I hear ya on the 'show and tell' it's crazy when we go out... especially with all the boys. And I can totally relate to the "are you done now". Crazy people!
ReplyDeleteyou look adorable!
brittany
I don't know if this is nice to say or not, but I felt the same with my son. Like I would go early. I just KNEW I would. I was finally induced 2 days after my due date.
ReplyDeleteYou look so lovely and glowing. I always think that people who are just great parents should bless as many children as they can.
I think that you should say "no, were not, but next time we hope to have a puppy."
ReplyDeleteMy 3rd child i didn't find out what she was til she was born - so when I finally got irritated with people asking what I was having or speculating on the sex, when they asked what are you having i would say "A puppy." this pretty much ended the conversation.
You look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love your belly :) You still manage to look so feminine and pretty. I don't think I felt that beautiful at 32 weeks!
ReplyDeleteAnd well, people should just not make assumptions. Especially when you are far from the 'main stream' parent. In a world where people have 1.2 children, I think you have a most beautiful family, whatever size you want it to be.
Such a cute pregnat woman you are! Wish I had only looked that good in my pregger days. Nice to see you stand up for yourself (even if it was on your blog.) I have 3 boys and had someone a few days ago ask if #3 was supposed to be a girl. Crazy what people will say these days.
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the comments. We had a boy first (one boy--just one!), and as soon as our daughter came along I frequently had people saying to me, "Ohh, one of each. Perfect--now your family is complete."
Never assume...
definitely a beautiful, glowing show!
ReplyDeletewhy do others feel they need to impose their values on everyone else?
Your a BALL of sunshine. pregnant ladies spread joy wherever they go!! I loved that.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you know you are not ready means you are getting ready to nest my dear!!!
I will never forget my first. I was a basket case until I bought cotton balls (because the list said I needed them). I still don't think I've EVER used them 6 years later !!!
I do not even have words to express how completely I can relate. Just hugging you and nodding. Yes. Fork. Early. Go. Done.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI keep getting comments about how they hope it is a girl this time.
You look great!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stand how people assume things about you.....just cuz you think it in your head doesn't mean you have to say it aloud - MYOB peeps!
Love that belly! Oh, and that nagging feeling she's going to come early....pay very close attention to it!
ReplyDeleteI kept feeling that way about Jackson and sure enough he showed up 6 weeks early!
Glad to see you are well!
Still lookin' great!
ReplyDeleteI, personally, think you should go for a couple more girls. Of course, I loved the Brady Bunch! ;-)
You look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAfter 3 boys, I always hear "are you going to try for a girl?" comments ALL THE TIME and the baby isn't even 4 months old yet!!
Several beat me to it - but you are a beautiful show, a beautiful example of motherhood! I have one boy & one girl and people have always assumed we're done, too. It's sad that Americans think so little of children. A message from Voddie Baucham entitled "Multigenerational Promise" changed my outlook on children completely. (I know it's time consuming, but you can hear his message online. I recommend it to everyone I talk to!)
ReplyDeleteoh - can it actually be that I am jealous!??! But I am!
ReplyDeleteMy little baby is going to be one in just a couple months and I just can't take that she is growing up so fast. I may need to have another...
People talk before thinking. I get- Oh, your hands are full- all the time. It does drive me nuts to hear it over and over again, but I think most people have good intentions and don't realize how it feels to be me. I've even mentioned to others how this gets under my skin and even those people don't get it.
ReplyDeleteI also got some uglyish comments when I was pregnant "AGAIN"
whatever....
And you look so pretty!
Jen
you are radiant! -
ReplyDeleteand try to ignore all the ugly comments, it's not worth your attention right now. I've got 2 and 2 and people could not understand why on earth we didn't STOP after our first girl and boy.
People say the dumbest stuff to pregnant women, don't they? I think you look awesome!
ReplyDeleteBut you are such a cute show! I think you look amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute. She's really stick out there, isn't she? :) Love your belly button! I think I said that exact thing when I saw you pregnant with Noah :)
ReplyDeleteSteph, are you sure there is only one in there? You are glowing, positively! Enjoy these wonderful times!
ReplyDeleteHey Steph
ReplyDeleteI think its great that you are standing up for yourself. I have a girlfriend that has 7 daughters..everyone assumes that they are trying for a boy, but they really are not. (actually at this point its really easier to have more girls!!)
I wish you the best and hope you get a family as large as your heart desires!!
I hate it when people assume I am disappointed JR is another boy, and I hate it when people assume we want more children because I want a girl...I do want a girl, maybe, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE having boys! I also LOVE kids and want 3 or 4 (I have always envisioned 4), or even 5! Who knows...
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you have a very lovely preggo belly!
You have the cutest bump!!! I wish I stuck straight out like that, but all bumps have their own beauty. Cute pictures. I haven't had time to comment on all your posts - love the name IVY! GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI honored you with a bloggy award on my blog.
OK, I totally HATE that when people assume you are done because you have at least one of each gender. We have a girl, and now a little boy, so people automatically assume we are done-even my Father-In-Law!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful!!!
You have the cutest baby bump! The belly button is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt can be frustrating when people make assumptions... I guess sometimes we all forget that people are all different from each other. Just because I'm done after two... or that if I had three boys, I might "try" for a girl and then be "done". But I can definitely see you having more! I can see why that phrase "are you done?" can feel rude... I hope I remember to never say that to anyone.
You look so cute. I love it when the belly button pops. I only had that with my third, but I loved it.
ReplyDeletePeople aren't always very sweet, are they?
That is one pretty bump, girl.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know, don't you totally feel like an over-ripe peach? I feel like any minute a small hand will pop out from between my legs and wave.
Oy.
Here's to the final stretch!
I always wanted my belly button to poke out but alas it I could not will it to. I think it's cute! That's one pretty belly!
ReplyDeletePeople always say that to us and we only have 2 boys. So you gonna try for a girl? It's so annoying...
I realize I am echoing what many have already commented, but I can't help chiming in.
ReplyDeleteI only have ONE son, and yet people are constantly saying to me, "Oh gosh, it's a girl? One of each! Geez, now you can be done, you must be so relieved."
1) I would have *loved* to have another boy. I also knew I'd love to have a girl. Seriously, "relief" was not one of the many emotions I felt when I found out our baby's gender.
2) Thanks random stranger at Target for your input on the size of my family!
It's a good thing I wasn't with you when all those lovely things were said, because seriously I've been in the mood for punching someone lately. No one in particular, but people have really been getting on my nerves:)
ReplyDeleteYou totally look like Kelly Clarkson in the side view shot!
I get so sick of people saying that to us about well are you done. We have 6 girls and don't know what number 7 will be we just want it to be healthy. And we will be done when God tells us we are done. I really think people don't always think before they speak.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know your daughter is going to get so spoiled. I know because I am the fourth child after three boys.
I was just looking at a picture of my oldest from when she was born. And all I could think was, "Wow. How did that fit inside of me?" Seeing your belly reminds me it's possible (and I don't mean that in a mean way, lol).
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you on the "done" comment. We have a nearly-six-year-old son and when people found out I was expecting a girl with our second, they automatically assume that we're done. Geesh.
ReplyDeleteThen there was the other comment a few weeks ago at Whole Foods. I had my son in my cart, along with my daughter and one of my son's friends. A shopper looked at the group (THREE kids, only THREE!) and asked me, "Are they ALL yours?" Honestly, some people...
I don't understand people sometimes. It really is nobody's business how many kids you have.
ReplyDeleteI got a comment last night that I didn't really know how to take. It was just me and Peanut at the store. She smiles and waves at everyone. This little old lady says, He is so cute. I kindly said, She is a girl she has a pink bow on her dress. I normally don't say anything either. But the lady says, I didn't even look at the clothes I just look at the baby. Was she saying my little girl looks like a boy? You would think at her age she would know better! Anyways, with all that said. You look beautiful. Those last few weeks are going to fly by.
Wow, you look GREAT! Is it appropriate to say how jealous I am of how great you look? My entire body grew with my baby, and being a tiny petite person, it was not so much fun. Dang, I can't get over how awesome you look.

Awww, your belly looks just like mine did when I was pregnant with both of mine (but I was lower). I remember being so far away from the sink it killed my back.. Congratulations on your little girl soon to be born!
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the "now you're done" bit. Of course, it was never a question for me. After four, I AM SO done!
Love your shower curtain btw.
You look great!!! I'm told I look "small" on a weekly basis and no one has even tried to touch my belly, yet. Guess I'm just not sticking out enough past my own personal space. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI SO feel you.... my scheduled c-section is 13days away and I am nowhere near ready. And getting out of bed does require some momentum. :)
ReplyDeleteWe will be ready when we need to be, I just keep telling myself that. Right now I am so focused on fitting in all those fun Lucas-and-Mommy things that may or may not get to happen once little brother arrives! The clothes can be sorted later. Right now, I want to take my little man to the zoo. Now if it wasn't so darn hot!!!
You do look awesome with that beautiful belly!! I am inspired to take a side view of mine now... :)
I've seen your blog mentioned everywhere...you are just adorable! Have I got some babysitters for you! Good luck with your last few weeks! Adorable belly b...
ReplyDeleteI had the belly button too...hard to believe it was just a year ago!
ReplyDeleteI CANNOT believe the number of people who say to me, "Oh, you have a boy and a girl - the perfect family." or "Oh, you guys are done because you have one of each right?"
Like it's any business of theirs anyway! And NO I'm not done, but I'm not sure if we'll have anymore or if I'll be the one pregnant for our next kid either. It's just funny what people assume. I'd love for my son to have a brother and for my daughter to have a sister as well.
Hugs, Heidi
People are silly - and you are grogeous!
ReplyDeletewe have two girls and a brand new little boy, everyone assumes we're done now that we have our boy, SOOOOO annoying!
ReplyDeleteStephanie - you look fabulous! Thinking of you during your countdown.
ReplyDeleteisn't it funny how the standard seems to be that you have kids until you have one of each gender? Since I have a boy and expecting a girl everyone I meet seems to think we aren't going to want anymore kids because we have one of each.
ReplyDelete
