I'm nesting. But it's hard work.
So, I've been running around like a crazy woman lately and am giving myself a much needed house arrest. Except for a few nights out that we have obligations to attend in the next few weeks, I am taking it easy. But I still feel the need to fluff the home a bit and get ready for baby.
It's exhausting, I tell you. Especially with these other people crowding my nest.
I twittered: nesting. but the other people in this nest are seriously annoying me and Antique Mommy tweeted back: That's why the mama bird eventually kicks their feathery little butts out.
So true, so true, my wise friend.
My day has consisted of putting in a load of laundry, carrying one upstairs, looking at it, deciding to lie down on the bed while I look at it, then close my eyes for just a little bit. Then I wake shortly thereafter because the boys are all eating popsicles in their bedroom on the top bunk, Carter is humming quite loud and quite irritatingly the Indiana Jones theme song, or the second showing of Fire House Dog today has ended. (Or all of the above.)
So then I get up and fold that laundry basket and consider finally organizing the baby's clothes. I make it through two boxes and sort them by size. Another lie-down-on-the-bed session sounds so much more appealing than putting them all in the drawers right there in front of me. So, it's like my body doesn't even give me a choice. My head soon hits the pillow again and soon one or two children appear as close as possible to my face requesting another popsicle or another Lego man needing his hair put on or another showing of Fire House Dog. (Or all of the above.)
In the meantime I check my email and the size of my inbox quickly crashes my iPhone. For good reason. Offer up a gift card to Target and they will come.
And now, I'm totally planning to make something healthy for dinner and then really get back to those baby clothes. It's not like I mean to put it off. I love looking through each and every piece. It's divine. But so is my head hitting that pillow...
I think you absolutely deserve to nrest. I honestly don't think I could keep up with your schedule, and I'm not even pregnant or raising three boys!
ReplyDeleteI'm going crazy trying to get ready for my Marine to get home. The feeling is reminding me so much of my nesting days that if I didn't know better I'd think I was pregnant. But I'm not, and it's STILL wearing me out, so you should definitely be resting up, girlie girl.
ReplyDeleteOh I so remember those days - but I don't know how you do it, I only had my husband to take care of, not 3 young boys!!!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you take care of yourself too - get some pillow time!
Steph, I don't even know how you are still sane! :-)
ReplyDeleteI mean, I just have my one and some days I feel crazy...you are amazing to have three little popsicle covered lego toting guys and still managing to try and fold the baby clothes!
Get some rest girl, you're making me tired! :-)
Sleep. It's good. Especially while making a baby. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel that way, too. Minus the nesting part. This is baby #3, and I've never felt the need to nest.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I didn't realize I had found a kindred spirit!
ReplyDeleteI have three little boys and am expecting my 4th child around Thanksgiving time. We don't know yet if it's a boy or girl.
It's too early for me to be truly nesting, but I have been having spurts of busyness none the less that leave me worn out and exhausted. I feel ya sister!
I totally love your new term, "nresting". It's perfect!
Kimbrah
But girl clothes are so much fun to fold, hang up and organize! Enjoy it while you can. I miss those cute little dresses hanging in Zoe's closet when she was a baby. Long ago are the days when I could choose what she would wear.
ReplyDeleteThat's a GREAT word!
ReplyDeleteClothing in drawers is highly overrated anyway. As long as you can get to 'em, they're fine. Leave 'em in a pile and go get some rest!
You have been one busy lady. It is weird in those last few weeks how we nest nest nest... but oh want to rest rest and more rest hehe.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS)))
Take it easy if you can, you deserve a rest!
ReplyDeleteNesting. I'm kind of missing that stage right about now! The baby should have been born tomorrow but is already 9 days old! She cut into my nesting stage and the house definately looks like it! Two kids are kicking my butt so you are pretty much my idol for expecting #4. You definatley deserve the pillow!
ReplyDeleteFrom one grand multi-para to another---relax....relax....fold clothes....relax ;o)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
That sounds like my whole last month of pregnancy with my third. I'd take my second child into my bed for naps and we had to set an alarm to make sure we met the schoolbus - I could just sleep and sleep and sleep!
ReplyDeleteSleeping is the one thing there won't be time for later! Do it now!
ReplyDeleteI love the kicking their feathery butts out of the nest! And you so deserve to nrest!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be yet another person to tell you that resting is good. With three boys I'm sure you already know that. I only have one little one, I also don't know how you do it. You're my hero.
ReplyDeleteWow. I only have one child. I can't imagine being a mother of three and being pregnant. I know people do it, but just my two year old wears me out!
ReplyDeleteI remember the nesting, though. I was on bed rest the last month and people were constantly chasing me back to bed. I wanted to paint the nursery and fold all the clothes and all those little things that you feel like HAVE to be done right away.
Why Hello famous blogger! I just read about you on five minutes for mom. And now you've graced me with a real comment on a real post. I think I must be dreaming.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment about being understanding with my friends. You're exactly right.
She is totally coming early. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you already have the perfect combination figured out... work a little, rest a little.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I also agree with some of the other comments that you should rest because I pretty sure your little girl is going to be ready to meet you sooner than later.
Take care.
man oh man! I don't know how you do it. you need that sleep but waking to faces in your face or just plain quietness (as a mother) that's totally freaky!
ReplyDeleteOH! with how much baby's go through clothes, who needs to fold? just lay flat. but that's coming from someone who doesn't like folding or ironing... LOL
good luck.
I remember those days so vividly. Oh the exhaustion. I hope you have a blissful nights rest. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new word! I think that I'll have to use in during my next pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteSome days that's how I feel like folding our laundry. Most of the time it just goes from being in the laundry basket waiting to be folded, then to the top of my bed waiting to be folded, and then back into the basket again before I actually get it done. Then there's the whole issue of putting it away...
ah - so how did I find you? not through the gift card actually - lib posted something about a "comment crusade" and I thought it would be fun :-)
ReplyDeleteand you are so worth bumping into - I like your writing style
very fun
and the bit about popsicles on the top bunk - I am actually some what amazed this has not yet happened in my house... really
I hope you get 5 minutes to rest
I remember when I was preg with #4 putting on my Hypno Session and just relaxing - even if I didn't get to sleep I did relax. It was a solid 20 minutes where my little ones knew not to touch me. At least they tried! Every little bit counts - your doing great :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteNesting is good if you can make yourself do it. I remember before I had my son I was obsessed w/ dreft!
Happy nesting!
Kristen
You need to rest up for the big event. Enjoy nesting!
ReplyDeleteTake your time. You'll get it all done.... and if not, the baby (or anyone else) won't know! Good luck nresting!
ReplyDeleteIt's true that a pregnant body knows what a momma needs, and that, apparently, is sleep. So SLEEP, woman. The rest will still be there when you wake.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to nrest. And the craziness of resting and nesting in weird cycles just prepares you for the baby that much more lol.
ReplyDeleteTake it when you can! I'm not expecting a baby in mere weeks, and I day-dream about my pillow. Rest up, and it's ok if they watch Firehouse Dog 15 times.
ReplyDeleteUs internets love us some Tar-jay, huh?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting some rest (sorta!) I adore your new word!
three kids and heading toward four? You so should dive for that pillow any chance you get--- oh wait, two out of my three are boys, and therefore I'm betting the chances of true mama naptimes are slim, no scratch that, none....:) Secretly though, I'm jealous. My youngest is six months and already I'm going...oh....I want another...
ReplyDeleteoh girl. I so remember that stage of pregnancy and I didn't have three kids to look after. Take it easy, okay???? And dontcha just love how close they get to your face when you're lying down? hehe. We used to pry my mom's eyelid open and say....'you awake?????' ;)
ReplyDeleteGrowing a baby is hard work! On top of preparing for her arrival and mothering your boys, you must be exhausted! Don't feel bad about the rest you need - take it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog! It means a lot to a new blogger like me!
Get all the rest you can, you remember the good old days of having an itty bitty baby in the house. I think they are often more tiring than my days can be now. OK, if it's a meltdown day maybe not so much the case, but you know what I mean. Get some sleep girl!
ReplyDeleteLife with a baby belly! One day I'm all fired up to mop and clean and rearrange the nursery AGAIN. And the next, the boys are wakin me up to let me know that Bob and Larry is over and they watched it a second time after their first attempt to wake me, but now they are hungry and the clock says that lunch is late.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to the party here, but I'd like to tell you that I took a nap today. You are my inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember the sweet days of nesting. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh girl. I'm so there. Unless it's food and resting, I'm really starting to drag! Here's to next month! :)
