Mo ve ment

I awoke early this morning, suddenly, and realized I couldn't remember the last time I felt the baby move.

I'm not normally a kick counter, but I do pay attention to every nudge and turn and cherish it, so not being able to recall the last time she told me she was there got me out of bed quite quickly. I moved around a bit, drank some water, and laid down on my left side again. Almost immediately I started feeling little hiccups and flutters inside.

I've possibly never loved her more than in that moment.

Today has been productive and I've done more nesting than resting, but I feel good and it's ok. Going through all my baby things I realized we didn't have any baby pants. So, I figured we'd venture out to Target and look for some baby pants and just finish up all the school supply shopping we had left to do.

I bought a pink tee shirt with matching pink pants. Pink with little apple trees. And it wasn't a gift for someone else.

Coming home and organizing all the school supplies and looking at the precious pink baby pants over and over has me feeling ready. For real we are ok. For real she is ok. And for real she is going to be here so very soon.

I've loved every moment I've known there was new life inside my womb. I can only imagine the bliss once she is living and moving with life on the outside.

  1. Oh I've so been there! It's amazing how they can scare the bejeebus out of us, and they aren't even out yet, huh? This wee one included has done it to me too.

I, myself, need to get the ball rolling and get more organized with the baby's things myself. This move was killer, it's thrown me off my mojo :)

  9. I can hardly wait to feel a baby inside again! I feel the love you're growing for her. She will be such a blessed little girl!

  10. Oh, I freaked out about movement many times with my most recent pregnancy. Like you I would do all the little things to inspire her to get moving and sure enough she would.

I'm impressed at your restraint, only buying one pair of pants and a shirt. I pretty much have to avoid going to the baby section altogether or I will walk out with numerous items.

  11. Bubbie hardly ever moved...I could eat candy and lie down- and then I could feel him. Oh and he had HICCUPS! all the time!

Peanut was the exact opposite. He moved constantly from the first time I felt him...and never stopped!

The miracle of a baby moving inside is awesome. Your words were beautiful and I know you can't wait to see her and hold her!!! Not too much longer!!!

  13. I had a baby freakout today about her not moving...had to do the drink a Coke, lay on my side, count kicks deal. Was so scared I'd be making a trip to the hospital but thankfully she was plenty kicky with some caffeine in my system. It's so scary though!!

  17. I think that's the only part of my pregnancy I really miss. All the flutters and hiccups. Now that she's here she is still a big mover. Can't wait to meet your little Ivy!

  22. Being able to feel the baby move is definitely the BEST part of pregnancy. That must have been a scary few moments though, when you hadn't felt anything for awhile!

  24. I am just sitting here smiling.. I bet that apple outfit is soooo cute!

I do miss the kicks as well, its such a miracle how God forms this wonderful child inside of us and trusts us to protect it for nine months. Such a great miracle!!

Not much longer until you get to meet her face to face :)

  25. Oh my goodness, how I know this fear. After 3 miscarriages, I was blessed to have the words busiest baby. He moved all the time and reassured me that everything was fine.

I'm so glad she gave you a little reassuring kick. Now, go rest.

  26. I remember waiting for my daughter to be born. I wanted her out here with us, where she would be safe and sound. And where I could listen for every little breath and movement to be sure she was, indeed, safe and sound.

Plus, I JUST HAD TO SEE HER! Aren't you DYING to know what she looks like?

  27. You are so blessed. I have three sons (and LOVE being a mom to boys) but sometimes think about litle pink pants. Reading your post made me want to have just one more. Pink or blue? Who cares? That feeling of a baby stretching and pushing around and promising to come soon is so beautiful I wish I could bottle it up and take it out when my kids are frustrating me and I forget to remember how wonderful they are. I'm living vicariously through you! -Katina

  28. Shopping for little girls' clothes is so much fun but DANGEROUS!!! I don't suppose you'd enjoy hearing about the huge sales happening at our local outlet mall starting on Thursday????

  29. that's funny... I just had a similar experience with lack of movement.

how fun it must be to buy girl clothes... I can only imagine. Even if we did know I couldn't go clothes shopping right now. Guess I'll have a lot of fun afterwards if they're girls.

  30. Oh I remember moments of panic like that! Thankfully, they always ended well. I have friends who didn't have a happy ending, so I was always (ALWAYS!) thankful beyond words when I would start to feel those little bumps and prods again.

  31. I remember those moments! So, so precious.

  32. Duh, I didn't get this at first. What A special "moment."

I remember that fear, and the waiting, and the excitement you finally get from the tiniest flutter. I remember my babes slowing down a lot near the end. I think it gets cramped in there.

  34. Those moments of not remembering the last movement are terrible. So glad she is ok and you got so much stuff done!

  35. I do the same thing too!

And buying pink clothes, for your daughter! How fun! Enjoy.

  36. so sweet! I can remember those moments being pregnant and the cherished anticipation that went along with the excitement. I can't believe that you are getting so close now. What an exciting time for you and the family!!

  37. I had a few too many of those panicked moments. And always the same sense of relief when I felt her moving. Actually, she had the hiccups almost daily for the last 6 weeks, so that was always her way of reassuring mommy that she was okay!

And then she had the hiccups for about the next 4 weeks after birth too! It was so funny!

  38. when I was pregnant I use to freak when I didn't feel my kiddo move, I am bad I use to drink pop to make him move. Now he doesn't stop moving!

  39. Oh my goodness, I have done this with both my babies. So glad to hear everything is all good.

  40. Can't wait for her to be here!!

  41. As much as I hated when the baby had hiccups - especially in the middle of the night - I loved them just as much! There's nothing like feeling your baby move inside of you and knowing that everything is o.k.

Can't wait to see pictures of little Ivy in the sweet new pants!

  42. Oh I am getting SO excited for you! Can't wait to meet that little GIRL bundle! : )

  43. Oh, I hate that feeling. I'm not a kick counter either and sometimes I'll stop and think "oh no... when was the last time...?" Of course, she's an active little bugger so she doesn't let me panic for long.

But, like you, I'm ready to get this chick on the outside! :-)

  44. My second daughter just about never moved. No kicks, so tugs, no discomfort at all. I spent about 5 solid months freaking out that she wasn't okay at all. Turns out, she was just sleeping. And she slept for the first 4 months of her life. No noise, not a peep. At about 5 months old, she woke up and has been an active, energetic little girl ever since! Now, at 18 months old, I definitely miss those sleepy days!!

Congrats on your baby to be!

  45. Those last few weeks of pregnancy when the baby moved less were very frightening for me - I always breathed easier when I felt her hiccup or push or kick again... now she's 11 months old - where has the year gone?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I remember when that same exact thing happened to me when my daughter was in my belly. It is one of the scariest feelings to stop and say to yourself "when was the last time I felt the baby move"? You go through panic trying to recall it. Just when you are ready to call the doctor to go in to hear the heartbeat they kick a field goal. The panic goes away and LOVE sets in. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and with the new baby when she arrives.
