And I guess if you have any non-related babywearing questions, I'd be happy to answer those, too. So, ask away. It will give me something to post about while I'm away at a spa day retreat and movie night slumber party with my local Mama Speaks girlies this weekend... don't be jealous- I'm sure a massage and foot treatments and food and girl talk can't be that much fun, right? : )
Be sure to follow me here on Twitter if you want to monitor that fun. And also- I am giving away $250 for Blogher, if you're going. Enter here! It's probably going to be pretty easy to win these smackers.
So anyway, what do you need to know? Leave your q's in the comments here.
Enjoy the spa darlin'!
ReplyDeleteAh. Spa. Jealous.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any babywearing questions at the moment. God willing, I will next winter... :)
Hello. I am delurking to ask you a babywearing question. My children are both adopted from Russia. We adopted them when they were 5 - 7. We are going overseas to work in an orphanage in the Fall and will pray about adopting a younger child (maybe more). Is there any info about Babywearing and adoption. I just assume that this will be an awesome way to promote attachment between baby and mom. What about while working in the Orphanage. Children will be 18+ months - 7 years old, but very small in size. Is it hard for little ones to adapt if they have never been in a sling? Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteDeanna........thought I'd drop in my .02.....it would be AWESOME if caretakers in orphanages used slings to help care for the children!
ReplyDeleteAs for building an attachment with a new mom and an adopted baby.....I can't think of a better way!!
good luck on growing your family!
Enjoy the spa night! No, really I'm not jealous :-p
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at the Spa!
ReplyDeleteDeanna, go to THEBABYWEARER.COM There are whole forum boards n babywearing and adoption.
ReplyDeleteIf you can Steph -- try out some of the high end wraps for me! I just got a Didy Indio off the TBW FSOT board and I have a few DIY wraps and slings but I would LOVE first hand observations of the $$$$ slings and wraps.
I want to know if its possible to carry a baby beyond 35 lbs. At 6months my baby was already 22 lbs. That was a month ago. He's gotten heavier since. I'm scared he's going to outgrow all of my carriers before he outgrows the need to be carried. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a blast at the Spa. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy question is..
When did your boys start crawling? Jackson is not trying to yet and I'm just wondering how me compares to other boys.
As far as the money for Blogher goes...you've got my attention. :-)
What I want to know is...do you snore?
ReplyDeletewish I was going to the conference...it's really not too far from me, an hour or two tops.
ReplyDeleteI have a non babywearing question. I would like to hear about how you time manage your boys, home, having fun and still having a rockin' blog that you maintain so well.
Either you are superwoman, or have time management skill I need to know, or have a messy house and dirty kids....which is what I have.
Anyway, have a great spa day, paint your toes for me!
What shoes are you going to wear?!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with a girly getaway Steph!
ReplyDeleteI have a babywearing question for you....I have a 14 month old who is only 16 lbs, so I carry her everywhere. I am also 5 1/2 months pregnant - so I am wondering what you have found that works. I am really running out of room for her on my front and side. I have her in a Peanut Shell at the moment, but welcome any suggestions!
Thanks
Blogher sounds so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteMy question, what is the best carrier to carry your baby so they are facing out. I've looked at so many, but don't know what to get. Plus, I'm not a super skinny mama! Pea loves to look, and while she will be worn facing in, she prefers to be facing out to she can see the world! We use the ring sling most of the time, but I'm interested in different carriers. Thanks a bunch!
I had my kids when I was 19 and 21. I was young. I had a friend who gave me a sling and I just couldn't figure it out with the first one.
ReplyDeleteWith the second, it was a little easier, but weird. Because I didn't see anyone else doing this. Being young, dumb, and stupid, I didn't continue with it.
Now that I've been around these awesome moms for awhile and have seen all this stuff on babywearing, I hope that one day I will have another baby so that I can participate in these things that I missed out on the first time around.
And I'll be at BlogHer! :D
Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I am also impressed with your blog. It seems we have much in common. ie babywearing, vaccination info, Jesus...blessings on you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMy son is 11 months old and has been walking for a month now. I don't wear him like I used to because he's so "independent". Have you experienced this? I would still love to wear him sometimes (especially in the evening when he's not so independent but whiny and tired wanting to be held but I'm cooking dinner:), but I don't think I have the right sling/carrier for us. Some of this sounds contradictory, I'm just wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think someone already asked the question that I wanted to ask, but I too want to know what the best carrier is to carry a baby out. I use my ring sling on my hip for my 7 month old chunky monkey, but I was thinking of going the ergo route, but it doesn't face out in the front.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
What is your advice for type of sling/carriers to get right from the get-go? I'm expecting my little one in a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

Have fun at your conference!
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI want to write about the Babywearing Conference on Being Savvy: Chicago (http://chicago.savvysource.com)because it sounds like a great event. Can you tell me what the "best/not-to-be-missed" events are going to be? I am looking for an little insider info from a girl who KNOWS! Thanks! Happy weekend.
Ohhh, I'd looove to go to a babywearing conference someday! How fun! My question is the same as one of the others already left here...I'd love to hear what you think about the more expensive baby carriers...I am a cheap mama at heart - but I will occasionally spend the big bucks if I think it's worth it!
ReplyDeleteCool! I'd love to go to the babywearing conference!
ReplyDeleteThe spa will be so fun! I would like to maybe get more details on how to nurse and babywear-I am having a hard time figuring out how to carry the baby and have them lined up for nursing without having to just flash everyone.....
ReplyDeleteTake lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteHere's my non-babywearing-related question...
ReplyDeleteHow did you go about weaning your boys...? I know you nursed into toddlerhood and I'm curious how that process worked for you.
AWwww... have a tin time at the spa.. please let us know how it went!>!
ReplyDeleteI think this was asked already... What are the best carriers/positions for larger kiddos. My 12 month old is 33 lbs and 30 inches tall. She's not walking yet, and I don't want to give up babywearing!
ReplyDeleteI have a ring sling and just tried it out on my 4 month old (really wished I had started earlier), but anyway, I just can't seem to get it. He feel like he is slipping out...what am I doing wrong?? He seems to enjoy it, so I really want to be able to do this!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHope the spa was wonderfully relaxing ... can't wait to read all you post about the babywearing conference. My first three kiddos were sling babies but with number 4 I discovered mei tais and wraps!!!
ReplyDeleteMy question: If you could only bring one carrier on a long trip, which one would you choose? I know ... just one??? thats not likely to happen ... even when I travel to Argentina and Hawaii I take 2 or 3 - a wrap, a mei tai and a sling ;-) But if you had to narrow it down what would you choose?
Hi Steph! I have a question re: babywearing. I have the maya wrap baby sling. My 9 month old is almost 23 lb now and every time I wear him, I feel like he's going to fall out. Is he getting too big for it or is it the way that I am wearing him. I wear him on my left hip with the sling around his butt with his legs dangling. Is there a better position for him? I appreciate any suggestions you might have! Have a great time at the conference!
