Either You're In Or You're Out

FYI- I am Irritable Mom today.

After waiting too long in a too long line at McDonald's this morning they proceeded to be out of everything I order. How can they not have bagels or hashbrowns or biscuits? The only thing out of my children's mouths come sung to the tune of a whine. And so far every person that I've responded to in email is not getting my email today. Surprise surprise even Twitter isn't working. Or maybe it is now. But it won't be later. Sheesh I have the grumpies.

The kids play outside with water guns. They come inside for a snack. They go back outside to ride bikes. Then imagine a revolving door as they come in and out and in and out for one thing or another. I'm just not into it today, and find myself a much stubbier, rounder version of Heidi Klum warning either you in or you out. I even do it in the German accent. And I have the bangs. And shoes.

But other than that I am Irritable Mom. Please don't mess with me. It won't be pretty.

  1. Is it the celery withdrawral? I'm sorry you're having a crappy day. Hope things get better for you soon. I have no words of wisdom for you though :(

  2. You go girl. Very well expressed. Thought the title meant you needed more celery!!! Too funny.
I have a 2.5 yr old insisting on underwear and yet he seems to have no CLUE when he gets the feeling...too early for potty training??

  3. But at least you still have your sense of humor about it. And with your theater training I'm sure the accent is pretty good, ya? Or would it be "da?"

  4. You deserve a day of crabbiness. And I think you deserve a round of celery too. :)

  5. Maybe if you spread some peanut butter on that celery it will help you digest it better so it won't make you sick. Then you won't be grumpy because you haven't eaten celery.

Just remember that tomorrow is a new day! You can get through ANYTHING for just one day.

  6. I'm having a grouchy day too, and with no celery withdrawl or big-kid rowdiness. Nope, my almost 18 month old is sleeping like a precious angel and I'm grumpy anyway. Um, I'm pregnant. That's always an excuse right?

Have you heard that the new season of Project Runway is 1) starting in like a week or two, and 2) will be the last one on Bravo? Apparently they are moving to Lifetime. I'm not sure how moving to Lifetime makes any sense at all. How will I get my husband to watch PR with me if it's on *Lifetime*?

  7. Oh my goodness. And I though you were Perfect Mom. Thanks for making me feel a little less alone in my irritability, but sorry you are having a bad day.

Glad you kind find the humor in it though.

    Hugs. Jen

  10. Oh I sooo feel your pain. Like standing there with the door open.

  11. Okay, so I may or may not have locked the storm door once or twice in order to make the kiddos knock to get it.

  13. I'm so sorry, Steph. Hang in there. Feed them whatever they want. Turn on the tv. Let the children run rampant while you put your feet up and try to get some rest. REmember, growing a human being takes a lot out of you...

  15. So it isn't just me? I am just having the nastiest day!

  16. I totally know except it isn't a revolving door, it is a case of annoying each other as. much. as. possible. Which in turn, annoys mommy!

  17. I can so relate. Forget the celery and go straight for the chocolate. This is serious! ;)

  18. Ahh... summer fun!
Keep yourself cool... being pregnant in this heat can't be helping too much either.
I just got home myself to 3 boys all itching to GET OUT ... all with 3 different agendas. And Henry... who just will come along for the ride!
    Keep smiling!

  23. You have all my sympathy on the McDonalds snafu. It's like Taco Bell being out of beans or something.

Not on the celery, though. Try cabbage doused in lemon juice. Or sugar snap peas. Or better yet, potato chips and chocolate chips.

  24. Celery withdrawal for you must be as ugly as coffee/Starbucks withdrawal for me.

    Rawwwwr!

Hope tomorrow is a better day for you...

  25. If you didn't have crabby days you wouldn't be human :)

  26. I had a very similar day! No McD's - but as my little one's were napping the older two were outside - most of the time. . . it's hot, we need water, I have to pee, we need a snack, and on and on! With every slam of the door I am certain someone will wake up. So I start to threaten no outside - but think - then they are in MY hair and my quiet. What's a mom to do?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Is the title what you were saying to the kids all day? I would have been. We all have days like this! UGH!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hope your grumpies go away soon. Just one piece of celery!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey, but even if nothing else is going right, just think, you can do a GERMAN ACCENT! That, my friend, is truly something to be proud of. My husband's friends sit around TRYING to do European accents while playing cards.

    And you have awesome shoes.

Though that is too bad mickey d's was out of biscuits-I love tomato and egg biscuits.

I hope today is happier for you! I'm sending good thoughts your way.
