The Pink And The Purple, It Is Invading

Today the hugest package arrived on my doorstep and inside was pink, pink, and more pink clothes for my little baby! All sent by the generosity of a blogger and Twitterer that I don't even know. But she's awesome and that I think you should know. Thank you, My Chicken And Cheese!

So, for those of you that know me and are wondering just how I'm handling the pink and the purple and the bows and such... I think I'll be ok. I'm still not so sure about bows- much to my Mother's dismay I had them remove the large bow from the back of my wedding gown- but I can deal with the pink. And when it's my little girl inside that pink, I know I'm going to love it even more. But bows, um, let me think on that.

  1. I love it! What a welcome change to all the brown, green and blue!!! And that Mrs. Chicken is awesome!

  2. Do you have bald babies? If you have bald babies, you will love bows so much as it doesn't matter if your daughter is wearing a bright pink dress that says "IT'S A GIRL", someone will undoubtedly come up and say, "What's your son's name?"

  3. I used to be the biggest tomboy ever. I hated pink. Hated. Now in the last few years I love pink. I wear pink all the time. I still, however, can not do bows. I had a massive bow removed from the back of my wedding dress too. :)

  4. It so cute!!!! I love pink clothes but I have a baby girl!!!!!

But we don't know the sex of #2 yet! but I'm not sure that I would like dressing a little boy like as much as I do with Rebekah!

I think we might be on the same page with bows but they might grow on me!

  5. We are in boyland over here, my Bubbalu is one of 5 boy cousins! No girls! We wouldn't have a clue about girls...

  6. Wow! How generous!

I'm hoping to mix some red and yellow in with all the pink and purple... just to help me keep my sanity!

  7. SO cool, Twitter is amazing!

I was never a fan of bows until I saw Capri in them. There are more tasteful and mod-ish bows you can find (check out the clippies I reviewed recently for MamaSpeaks, they have adorable hair stuff).

  8. I have 3 boys as well. Not sure what I'd do with a bow. Or anything pink! ;)

  9. I was all anti-pink and bows and frillies and things too. Now I wear pink myself. And I enjoy it! My girl is a girly girl and it totally rubbed off on me. Which is perfectly fine - I needed it. ENJOY IT. REVEL IN IT.

  11. Yay for Pink & Purple!
I am not much of a bow person either. They are cute on occasion but some of it can be overkill.

How nice of her to send you all those clothes. I just posted today about how wonderful it is to have bloggy friends...

  12. I love bows! Not on wedding dresses though, and not on anyone over the age of 6, maybe even 5:) but they are just too cute on little girls. And I agree w/ des...My niece was bald so my sister pierced her ears and some lady said "I can't believe you pierced your son's ears!" Seriously.

  13. I don't know how I'd react to pink and purple. I say I'm not a fan now but if I found out I was having a girl I might go crazy with it...at least while she was a wee little one. My kids are always loaded with hair so I'd probably do up her hair also ;)

  14. what a nice gift! I have a few baby girl things laying around here that I need to get rid of since I'm having a boy. I'll give them to you if you want, I only kept the really cute outfits

  16. Pink is addicting.

Bows...not so much. But oh! the clippies! There are so many clippies that will make you swoon!

  17. Very cool.

I never saw myself as a bow kind of girl either but once you have a girl, geez she if fun to dress!!

  18. Get used to it, people LOVE to buy little things for girls!

  19. I had two boys and then when our third child arrived a girl the house became very pink very quickly. Weird thing was, that I had not worn pink for years but even started wearing some pink myself!

  20. Oh YAY, that was so sweet of her!! :) You are SO gonna love PINK...I promise!!! :D

  21. Oh my goodness. I just *love* bows. Not the ghastly enourmous ones they put on wedding dresses, but the little tiny modern sweet tasteful bows? My favorite. Even on grown-ups who are so inclined. My SIL bought me earrings with dangling balls and black bows in Italy, and they are among my very favorite. Purple I can mostly live without.

  22. I never really liked pink until I had a girl. I still don't wear it much myself, but she sure looks cute in it! It has grown on me.

There are lots of tiny bows that are really cute, I still don't like the super huge ones, eventhough my daughter is almost 3.

  23. PS. I totally know how to spell enormous, that was a typo!

  24. I thought I'd put a bow in my daughter's hair every day, but we've actually used them sparingly. Not because I didn't want to pigeonhole her into a gender role, but because she pulls them out and she's just so pretty even without a bow :-) I don't worry about dressing her in girly clothes (until she gets old enough to articulate what she'd like to wear) but I do try to make sure most of her toys are gender-neutral. She appreciates it I think. Her wooden train and cars are some of her favorites. (And if I ever have a boy, he will have a doll, too.)

  25. Hilarious! I had the train cut off my wedding dress, and the seamstress thought I was insane. lol

I had the same reservations about pink, and after three girls I can say that I've seen a LOOOOOOOT of pink.

It sort of grows on you. Like a fine mold... It does bring out the rosy in their cheeks.

    :)

  26. Oh Steph... how cool and how nice!!!! So cute!!! Look at those shades of pinks and purples!!

  27. I am totally a girly girl, and I love dressing my little girl in pinks and purples. But I have yet to use a bow or headband or other such thing on her. I'll wait until her hair is long enough. She has a good head of hair now, but it's one less thing to worry about losing!

  28. Gosh, what a nice donation! I'm not a big fan of pink and purple either but some of the girly things are super cute.

I've been buying up some things for 12 month boys but I think AJ and the baby are going to be way off in seasons...AJ was two when he came home and the baby will be one. Looks like I will have fun shopping again!

  29. I agree, butt bows stink. But I bet you'll love it on your new arrival!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You are most welcome. Enjoy! And hopefully there weren't TOO many bows ...

  31. Wow what a change in palette, how fun! And we needed one of these little girl thingies on the MS team, way to be a team player ;)

That was a very cool Twitter hookup!

  32. YAY for girly clothes. When I was pregnant with Liv I was REALLY worried about all of the pink, then I realized all that mattered was my daughter, not what she was wearing. She hates hairbows more than I do, so we're good there!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh just you wait Steph until you experience the No Slippy Hair Clippy for your daughter. Once you do, I guarantee that you will become a bow addict. (insert big wink here)

    ReplyDelete
  34. That is just too cool. Bloggy pals are so fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  35. That is *so* nice!

I'm with you on the bows, though...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love pink! But my hubby wasn't so sure, so we've avoided it as much as possible.

At 13 months, though, it's no longer possible. Little girl heads straight for the pink, regardless of whether it's a toy store, clothing store, or hardware store. I don't know what it is . . .
