Every Little Bit

A fellow blogger, Jodie from Jodie's Random Thoughts, has some very big news about a very tiny little baby boy soon to come home to her family.

She and her husband Brent have been chosen to adopt a beautiful baby boy. He was born on September 1- 15 weeks early. He was 1 lb 12 oz when he was born. They are both thrilled and humbled at this new adventure, but because they weren't exactly planning this adoption, they are in need of some help.

Please stop by their blog and send your prayers and donations their way if you can, even if it's just a kind word of encouragement or just $1, every little bit counts.

  3. How does one come across a child you were not planning on adopting? I am not trying to sound bitter but we have been trying to adopt for a long time and i know there are plenty of other people out there who have as well.

  4. Thanks for the heads up Steph. I just offered them a gift certificate and encouraged them to give me a call for some brainstorming on what they think will work best out of some choices. I have no experience with such a little one so they'll have to see what they think tool

  5. It's a good question, actually. We have already adopted twice. Both of our adopted children have special needs. Our son has Down syndrome and our daughter was born pre-maturely and drug/alcohol exposed to a birth mom with no pre-natal care. We ONLY want to adopt children with special needs. Because of that, we often get calls from our adoption agency asking us if we are ready to adopt again. We didn't know if we were ready this time but after a great deal of prayer and talking we realized that it was time. I just wish our finances knew that. :)

One of the hardest things for us is knowing that there are so many out there, including many of our friends, who are waiting for their child to come home and we seem to have them fall at our feet. But, again, it has a lot to do with the fact that we adopt children with special needs. We also believe that the right child goes to the right family. We have said no to situations at times when we were more financially in a position to do it. But those children weren't meant to be in our family.

I truly wish you the best on your adoption journey. After years of infertility and a couple of adoption miscarriages, I know how hard it can be to wait. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

  6. Jodie,
Thanks for your answer. We adopted our son from Russia two years ago and he is also special needs (surprise) and we know that we can not emotionally tackle another special needs child.

The world needs more people like you who can.

Godspeed your little one and if you want to tell your story to a larger adoption audience let me know...http://achildchosen.com
