Walk Two Lines Down Memory Lane

We were married just 6 months when I suspected I might be pregnant. I just had this feeling. Well, I hadn't been feeling well, but that's not the feeling. I just sensed that I might be pregnant. So, one night on my way home from work, I stopped at the grocery store and filled my cart with random items to go along with the one intentioned pregnancy test. I think I picked the cheapest one (I could go look right now as I saved them all. I know I'm not the only one that has done this.)

I brought the groceries in the house and snuck the test upstairs. I think hubby was home by then. I nervously took the test and there was definitely one line and one very faint, if you squinted the right way, second line. I remember feeling a numbing sensation and an excitement. We had planned to have at least two or three kids, but thought maybe that would be after two years of marriage. It had only been 6 months. But I had a hard time hiding my delight.

I asked hubby to sit with me in our living room, and I really gave him a scare at how serious I was. He was so excited to hear this possible news, to my great relief! We went out and bought several more tests (like 5 or 6 or 7, I think) and every one of them had that light second line. Little Noah was in our hearts and in my womb.

You can share your feelings of the first time you found out you were pregnant over at MomsBlogging.com.

  1. I just had to giggle that you got some random items to go with the intentioned pregnancy test. I've done that EVERY time! Funny, the things we do for no apparent reason.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  2. To add to this story...

I remember when you guys came over and I was a few months pregnant. You started with "we have some news..." and then I was elated to know we would share in pregnancy journeys and then again with Gray. :) Good memories!!!

And I have both of my positive sticks tucked away in a drawer.

  4. I rarely wear my wedding ring, but everytime I've bought a pregnancy test I make sure I wear it and flash it- just so I don't look like a hussy. I don't know why I do that. It's so silly!

  5. leeanthro-not silly! I position my hand just so for the exact same reason. :) Anyone else? I wouldn't even think twice. I guess I can hear my mother in my head.

When I was pregnant with Syd, I came home, took the test went to do laundry and forgot about it. Yes, I know. I forgot about it. When I finally remembered I strolled into the bathroom looked at it and freaked out. It was positive! I managed to hold it in until Marc and I went to dinner that night.

Second time around, couldn't wait. He was outside on the phone with my mom. I went out and told him to get off the phone. I wonder if I ever told my mother what the hang up was about.

  6. I have my pee sticks too! :) I keep them in my dresser drawer because I don't think anyone would want that in their memory books!

  9. Sweet story. I have yet to be "surprised" and we're DONE, but I have always thought it would be exciting to have it just decided for us.

  11. Such a sweet story; thanks for sharing. "We went out and bought several more tests (like 5 or 6 or 7..." I did two tests, too. And would have kept going except that the second one was positive without a doubt.

  13. I kept my sticks for a while, but then later they turn dark yellow and gross me out! So I get rid of them. But, in the beginning I need to look at them at least 15 times a day to convince myself that I really am pregnant! LOL!

  14. I would blog about the first time I found out, but my dad reads my blog and even though he loves SlowMo, I don't know how he'd do reading about it all again, since I was, ya know..17 and all!

Cute story of your though!! I saved theBeasts test for about a year, but have since thrown it away.

  17. This is my first stop at your blog and I cried when I read your story about little Noah. What a miracle!

My younger brother started having siezures at 2 years old also. They would happen every few months and he did take medication for them. I don't remember much since I was just a little girl at the time. However, what I do remember is that God healed him at 13 years old. He's now 26!!! Yes, our God is an AWESOME God!!!

  22. Steph,

I have my test saved and tucked in a zip-lock bag with the date I took it and the name of the baby to be. LOL. I have no shame in admitting that either. :-)

    I like your sweet story!

  25. I finally got my story posted!

I bought a cheapie test & it showed NO lines. I had my hubby check my pulse. It was kind of like getting a fortune cookie with a blank fortune!
    :-)

  26. LoL I did the same thing.. cheapest test I could buy (because there was no point in buying an expensive one.. I couldn't possibly be pregnant) and about 3 million other random things in my basket.

Wonderful and incredibly heart-warming story you've got there :)
