The first moments of Gray's life outside the womb are some of my most treasured. We were able to bond and nurse immediately, and hubby and I snuggled and ooohed and ahhhed over our newest son for a good hour or so, all alone before anyone had to come tend to the routine hospital stuff.
Initiation of breastfeeding within the 1st hour of birth is the first and most vital step to reducing infant and under-five mortality. To me, it was just so natural to do right after he was born.
And still, with Gray being almost 22 months old, breastfeeding him is so natural and not something that I ever view as shameful or a burden. The fact that I am still nursing him at this age is something I enjoy and know is best for him and me.
Whether you nurse your child for one day or one year or even more, every little bit of that Mama's Milk makes such an important difference in their entire life.
